If you have an older copy of the AO install (such as from the SL or AI cd retail releases) you already have the script. What they did was change the contents of
Tweak_Shadowlands_SunLight_Lavaland.txt to remove the code that gave the heat haze effect (along with some other minor changes). If you install the older build of AO and copy that script out you now have the old effect handy.
It's worth noting that some of the stuff in the old also affected how inferno was lit, as well as how some textures were displayed (ie; the grass texture that used to be all over the garden becomes orangeish dirt when the heat haze effect code is removed, and vice versa).
It's also worth noting that at some point after the removal of the effect from inferno, something was changed with the lighting (and probably how various textures were handled) on outdoor inferno (presumably around the same time they addressed the very PINK and darkened effect the initial removal had on everything) that makes the heat haze effect show up incredibly too bright if you manually use the old script. The garden (at least the clan one, I don't know about the omni one) didn't receive the changes so the effect works properly there.
At best it's good for a bit of nostalgia while running around the garden, a reminder of what inferno used to be like. Of course, it also reminds you of why it ultimately was removed as it does have a noticeable impact on performance (but it looked so nice!).

Kopo: There's nothing wrong with the (NT) profession itself, it's just that the other 99.9% of us playing it are deluded & incompetent.
Unzipped: I'm right, Schmorgi is right... everyone else is wrong and /org lazy.... yep... that pretty much sums up my thoughts.
Mangle: .... even still the leveling curve seems steep. Why must there be an exponential leveling curve? Who the hell invented that crap with MMOs to begin with?

My favorite memories from Anarchy Online were when it had a large population & I could log on a character of any profession, of any level, for any quest & get a team in less than 5 minutes.
You could end up with a multiranged enforcer carrying CDRs on your team, but you didn't care, as long as they did damage & could mongo occasionally if needed.
I recall seeing omni holding the box room @ tara, and clams massing up top to rush. Someone came down the stairs to peek in, got tabed by the Kell's NT team, and then ran back upstairs. This was pre shadowlands... so kells took a bit to cast. Remember most people had 6-8k hp, a mongoing enforcer would have 10-12k. So teh smarts scout runs back up stairs taking 6 slow cast kell's with him, getting the clan rush force gobsmacked for 7-8k haha.
And then shadowlands came out and had no more pvp AoE for nt's everyone had enough reflect to kill you if you used one.

One memory that sticks out for me was a RL friend playing his Adventurer and after a chat about AO in the pub realising that Assault Rifle probably wasn't the best choice for it!
He had got to around level 30 as a fairly unique adventurer, I managed to talk him out of deleting and rerolling the char and we had some great fun playing "aggro tennis" with mobs in Pen missions - one adventurer either side of a mob and backstabbing in turn so the mobs spent all their time running between you!
I noticed the other day that he stopped playing his advy at 220/27/70 now - wonder if he could have done that as assault rifle specialist
Dont know about favourite, but certainly one that I remember is from one of my few visits to Testlive.
Many many years ago I went on to take a look at this new "Temple of Three Winds" place.
Unfortunately I was a little bit too low, around 20ish, and the first mobs I encountered were nasty and red to me.
So I did what every sane person does, turned around and ran back out.
What I hadnt noticed was that someone else was hanging around inside the entrance and he was only saved from the mobs following me because someone had arrived to help him.
Doh!

Well my best memory from AO is getting married ingame with the girl i loved. http://www.waqu.net/~waqu/scrn0033.png and http://www.waqu.net/~waqu/marriage/
I remember having a friends list full of people, several of them often online. And Borealis Lag City. Also, I remember being a noob. I remember leveling, and feeling like I was making good progress at my own pace. I remember going to APF for the first time and trying to get AXP. I remember going to a beast raid the first time and being worried, since my org mates told the bottom 10 DDs were going to be banned unless they are pet professions. I remember WA PvP, and meeting a twinked out agent 15 levels lower than me I couldn't understand how he was beating me. I remember Trash King and his fury. I remember when I asked a 220 org mate to help me kill Kefallonia for kicks, and we failed.
Good memories. I wonder if that's why I am still around.

Well, one of my best memories, also my FIRST memories in Ao:
In 2002 (?) When my mom, and dad where doing missions on their toons, and i kept creeping upp behind them when they where playing, only to press space (jump) so they would get stuck in the mission roof, good'ol days!
... So many other memories tho..
Facebashr: you support clan or omni ? ****: meh ****: omni =P Facebashr: that leaves me no choice. You gained 120 PVP Solo Score.
To give you some DNW-Madness:
I was a neut Fixer at DNW in ... hmmm.. 2002 ?? No pool, so you would loose all XP. I was 199 and I had a nice team doing BS Missions. The race was on, who is gone be the first Neut Fixer at 200... Well I heard during that Mission about 10 times from my doc (Mortitia) "Haha short before Level-Up you gonna diiiieeee" which really became true by accident. She was so sorry, we were laughing :-)
And Wigha ! Wigha was the nicest guy ever ingame. We went on a mission... At one point Wigha got hungry (very common) so he let us know he is gone get something at MCDonalds and be back soon. Unfortunately while thinking about this yummy burger Whigha fell asleep, coming back 8 hours afterwards and he was seriousely complaining (from memory): "WTF are you, lets finish this mission!"
And a lot of more...
speaking of memories and i havent seen many sshots of super old stuff..
so i dusted off a backup dvd of my oldest AO sshots and uploaded a few.. including my very very first sshot.. hehe
