Not possible to exp. in outdoor playfields?

I am having a lot of trouble playing in any outdoor playfield. If I dont have a wall to hide behind while my pet kills I am getting creamed. I am just above 60 and was trying to do the 80 hecks and while my pet can easily dispatch them; If I pull more than 1 I die almost immediately because my pet cant get hate. I am not using aura's and I am using aggressive trimmer, + A/D trimmer etc..

You an try tanking the adds by going to full defensive and using Disruptive Photon Absorber aura to blind the adds.

First off, for add try going full deffensive, and using one of the blinds from the blind school we have. http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=154715 There are a few with lower skill requirements than this so you should be able to cast one of them.

When you pull, pull by yourself, do /pet wait then have this macro on your hot bar "/macro attack /pet attack" so work on learning to pull 1 at a time, then set your pet on it once you get it back from the group of other hecklers.

If you get more than 1 heck on you cast the blind aura and run around the pet and 1st heckler. So the pet will kill the 1st one while the 2nd heckler runs around in circles after you. After the 1st one is dead put the pet on the 2nd one and don't attack. After 3 or 4 health bars your pet will get agg and keep the heckler off from you.

Take special care to cancel the blind aura before you go to pull the next one as it has a taunt on it and could pull more adds on you.

If you're really getting used to pulling hecks, you can pull one heck at a time even out of a cluster of three, so just approach them very carefully, sometimes I got the feeling that jumping makes them pay you more attention, so step up, jump and wait a bit. They're stony creatures, so their brain isn't all that fast...

Also note, that using a reflect might be nice for damage reduction it can pull of more hecks if you get accidentally hit while pulling. (As the heck takes damage due to reflect, it triggers social behavior)

Thanks for the replies. I have some of the aura's but I didnt notice the blinds, ill look into those. My runspeed is the sux so I suppose I need to cap it as the last time I ran from Hecks they caught up real fast. About the pulling ... ive been trying to pull only 1 from groups but just seems impossible. I was able to learn to do that with croakers but having trouble with the hecks. I will work on the suggestions and many thanks again for the help.

What I do when I pull a heck is I walk up to it (not at walk speed but at run speed) while facing it, once I get "close" i slowly move forward then when it gets up run back right away.

Fairly certain you mean to ass pull sir.

What you do is face your ass to the heckler and then slowly back up until your booty gets close enough to pull one then you start running.

I pull one mob from a group as such:
-Have snare auras running on pets, send pets to attack the one you want.
-Run in and blind all after snare ticks on mobs.
-Pew pew the one you want to kill.
-As soon as snare breaks on that mob set pets to follow and run to the hills.

Now unfortunately your snare at that level is less reliable and not as large, and you prob don't have the defensive tools to keep yourself/pet alive while you break the snare on your target, but at 220 this is the most reliable way to pull a mob out of a dyna camp that I have found.
This was what I was wearing. Tell me I asked for it

The OP is "just above 60"...

Regarding other answers here like running in circles: have you guys tried that lately with hecklers and a runspeed of a lvl 60 engi? All SL mobs have a really large range when it comes to melee attacks. "Running in circles" will be more like "running a quarter of a circle and then die horribly" if I remember correctly from my attempts at level 150 after I having upgraded to SL.

Also don't forget that all blinds have a taunt attached to them. If your pet has trouble to hold aggro it will have more trouble to hold it when you run close to the mobs and spam blinds. A low level engineer has much less means to buff the pets to better hold aggro than a 220 engi.

Going to full defensive is a good idea ofc. Try to stay nearly out of pet range. If you get the message "your pet is out of range and will soon return to you" move closer until you see "your pet is in range again".

Move to places where you can hide. Move to places where you can flee into dungeons (if you don't want to jump over the edge of the brink). The Core might be a good starting place.

I would suggest first of all to choose different playfield to level solo when you are over 60. I think kolaanas, hiathlins and malahs nearby P7 in ely would be just better target than nascence hecks and you will level pretty smoothly without any problem. Exp gained/time would be very similar (or better when we speak about risk of possible death, return and rezzing...)

Blind auras, full def and IP in evades make life oh so much easier. You may need to spam it though in case you get hit. Things will get easier once you get a more powerful bio cocoon for those "oh crap" moments, you'll live a second more at least

If you can kill hecklers in Nascence, you can easily solo about half the dungeons in Elysium, where LoS is your friend, and you have faster re-spawn timers, SL nanos, and pearls.

Hecklering should be a group activity for speed leveling.

Do be careful if you level in twink tower, one time while leveling Tech I got up to take a leak came back and my friend who was leveling with me had died. I naturally was ignored by the mob for some reason...

Problem with Tinker Basement is the first hallway from the entrance room. It has a spawn point right in the middle, but is on a weird timer and unless you've been jumped by it before, it can surprise you if that first hallway is where you setup you camping rotation. It also is buggy, and sometimes the mob is spawned close enough to the door to trigger it open, and if you are in the center of the entrance room sitting, you can draw aggro. I tend to park whatever toon I am dragging around in the back corner near the entrance door, and only afk outside the zone.

For someone in their 60s though, I was thinking more like Riftweed Hollow and those kind of dungeons. A little easier than level 165 dryads, malahs and voidprojectors.
