So, this upgrading beast weapons business

Word on the street is, the Xan of (insert name here) weapons are upgraded from beast weapons and the upgrade kits drop in the instance that didn't come with the initial patch. While you do have plans to instance pande, I doubt that will happen any time soon. The work of the AO development team since Sil took the reigns and now under Means has been admirable... but slow. So effectively, on RK2, you've locked out everyone who is banned from the clan and omni Pande bots from getting one of the new weapons.

This isn't a discussion of "you shuldn't have been banned in the first place omg ur evil lulz" like I know some twits are going to start up with. It's especially not an issue because the toon I need a new gun on isn't the banned one . What this is a discussion of, is the fact that FC dropped the ball by allowing players - and not themselves - to control how a zone is raided (which, if you read the EULA strictly, the public point bots are a violation of game rules), and now they've introduced a paid booster that, for the meantime, forces people to use a system that should have never needed to exist in the first place. And some of their customers are not allowed to use this system because someone with admin rights on the bot said, "Because I said so."

And before someone defends the point bots by saying it's best for the community, once APF was instanced I saw all kinds of people who had never done APF before because they didn't like the idea of the bots coming out of the woodwork.

I read it. Is it the same soon that was mentioned after the initial new engine video, or the soon from late November/early December that saw the booster come out three months later when they wanted it released before Christmas?

Because neither cuts it for a product people paid for that's out now.

I didn't say that. I said that, once the xan upgrade kit content comes to live, there's no excuse for anyone being denied it based on whether or not another group of players lets them use a loot distribution method not sanctioned or controlled by FC.

You approached this in exactly the wrong way. You first start by saying "leave me alone about getting banned" and then bring up your complaints about the systems in place, which is just going to turn this into a debate about those systems you claimed to not want to be bothered about.

More importantly, you don't NEED this weapon upgrade by any means. Nor are you locked out of it forever. You have/had three decent options (playing nice with the point bots, going outside of the point bots, or just being patient) and saying that's not good enough is just completely unrealistic.

No point because my shenanigans happened in APF before instancing; there was no reason to play nice with the zerg when 28 can be done with less than a full team. Do you think zergbots are a healthy institution when we once got loot rights on the gen with 5 people, two of which were blind stinking drunk and one dual logger to get 6 toons in the team? There were at least 5 teams in Alienfun at the time, too.

Of course, the route that's going to be taken is being patient, at least for me. But my point isn't about patience; it's about being made to use old systems that never should have existed - and are in fact damaging to the game, if the amount of people who never did APF because of the bots are any indication - in conjunction with a brand-new philosophy behind designing and playing the game.

As for the "not needing" the weapon comment, if the weapon is a distinct upgrade, it's needed. That's like saying someone doesn't need AI armor, or DB nanos, or Ofab; you can keep going down the list in this fashion, but what you wind up saying is, "All someone really needs is a medsuit, a weapon they can get on with a 131, QL200 implants and RK nanos." Then the question that immediately comes to mind is, "Well, then why am I not a froob?"

Retitle your thread to whining about bots. FC is already working to address your complaint. I guess you just aren't patient enough and feel that whining about it some more is going to speed things up.

And no you don't need the particularly minor upgrade. Especially if you don't pvp (can't remember if you do).

I'm not whining about bots, I'm complaining about them releasing content that relies on them.

Of course, Means' "very soon" comment could mean ridiculously soon, and they'll pull a brilliant and come out with the instance the same time as instanced Pande, but that is unlikely.

While the assault rifle would help me self-cast AMS V on Berinda without sacrificing a HUD slot, I'm not really after that. And as I stated in my first post, the toon that needs a weapon upgrade on my account is not banned from the Pande bot, reinforcing that I'm not whining about being banned.

i spent 10 hours questing thru trains and spawn camping in arid canyon, now at half way and i learn xan upgrade not in game yet, reward is a ql 270 ear symbiant nodrop.

i would play just to explore but i cant stop killing to even look at my fukin surroundingsto stay alive, and entire alien playfield is a narrow tunnel with almost nothing inside except variation of 4 alien mobs
i enjoyed walking back and forth in scheol because it was hauntingly beafutiful. in alien pf all i see is grey blocky rocky walls.

Loot distribution has nothing to do with it. A bunch of people decided they dont want to team with you because of your actions in game. FC shouldnt have any say in who I decide to team with.

Good argument... except for the fact it's not an argument. I can join the bots with my two other TL7s that aren't banned. And "a group of people" didn't decide they don't want to team with me - I team with people people who use the zergbot frequently. I've also done APF on a few occasions with people I was ODing pre-instancing and there wasn't any hard feelings.

If you want to make the argument, people who control the points bot shouldn't decide who can team with who, either.

Whining about it many years ago almost made sense. Now it's pointless because FC is doing something about it, so get over it. Everyone likes to be a victim though...

Make your own beast raidforces.

Extremely difficult? Yes. Not impossible. It would be far easier to use a pointsbot (probably: if you DO get a regular raidforce going for beast, it's probably going to take you a lot less raids to actually get the loot you want than it would on a long-established pointsbot). This is effectively a decision you appear to have already made for yourself.

Also, I don't know what server you play on, but where I come from (RK1) bans are very rarely permenant, if the banned person tries hard enough to get them reverted. Think you'd have to have ninja-looted a Burden to be truly perma-banned, and frankly if you did your opinions about "FC sanctioned loot distribution methods" are not much worth reading

ive been banned for raiding outside of the bot for 2 years now... leaving my adv without the ql300 symbs i need, and without boc or what so ever. For the past 2 weeks ive been asking RL of phatznet if i have a chance to get unbanned, but most of em tell me to ask marlark or post on genesis forums, and one told me that i should be banned for ever . Well genesis forums are for registered users only and registration is closed, and marlark is hardly ever online

so no ql300 symbs or new weapons for me. unless omni lets me raid with them (why should they)
