I'm really glad so many people realize how vital the beginning area is for the over all health of AO. I concur that this should be the number one priority for the Dev team. Getting and retaining subscriptions is paramount to all else.

I am so much for it. I cant tell you, how I liked this whole thing and being arrival to Rubi-Ka. Talking NPCs, few information speaked by voice over the hall (About reclaim and shuttle crash). Then, there was NPs talking about Omni and Clans. actually, as a newb, you could fell, what this game about.Originally Posted by Suicidal

1. Change Startup Experiance
- return to Arrival Hall
- reuse Backyards somewhow
2. Bring back the War!
- rework NW experiance (OSB, Towers hp, Ninja CT)
- Add new low lvl pvp zone for players 70-90. I Have syggested a Mine, which was introduced in AO trailer. Would be nice to see Clans vs Omnis fighting to take over The Mine for VP... (like BS< buts diff design, more AOish)
3. Rebalance lowbie/Mid PVP
4. Make Rubika-Ka Part of AO. Bring back hounting experiance. Its cruel, that so many land, so beautifull desing lays unusable by anyone. No team missions, no hunting, actyally nothing.
- Apply DynaBosses PVP lvl ragne, co actually it will be fun to kill them by teams/twinks
- Rework money reward and money drops by human character NPCs in team missions.(like 3 times higher), so players (especially newcomers) will catually get money for ammo, atleast and some nanos/armor. Totw gives so much cash compareing to missions.
- Change name of Missions to Assigmenent. It will be more AOish - like it should be. Its about conflict, war, fight, makeing something to secret agents that are never seenable to players. I felt, like doing missions is like doing... quest. And in most times, its killing mobs or spy something... looks like assigment.
5. Add low mid AXP zone. Like many said (gazzilion of times), there is Noobisland AXP and S10. And thats a huge Gap. LE missions are boring like nothing, and its wors designed area (imho) in game. No nice view, suroindings are all the same weach time. No good animation of starting ship... you just enter glowing circle and thats all.

Whoa. Posting from my froob account now, didn't know I could. I can post even without my main account being active, woo!
Anyways, on topic, I'm with the majority of people here. The starter experience needs the improvement the most. I've tried getting many friends into the game, but they've all been turned off because they "Don't know whats going on"
Most people trying MMOs seem to start with WoW, I don't want AO to be like WoW, but the fact that such a simpler game is what most people recognize should be taken into account at the very beginning at least.
After that? More SciFi in the game. I love Rubi-Ka, and while I have nothing AGAINST the Shadowlands, and AI And LE have added decent amounts of scifi to the game, aliums is not all there is!
No. Make one basic shop innewb island to have a fixed set of items and make it clear to the players that
1) usually they can use higher ql ingredients than required, which is certainly true for clusters, and
2) make it clear that shops don't necessary stock all items at all qls at all times. Thats it.
You have to log in to register.funcom.com to set your forum login and password first.
Then wait a few minutes for the info to transfer over to the forum server.
for bothoster, keeping char stats up to date is horrible atm.
parsing the html at people.funcom.com and then get corresponding org xmls to update local char database results in lots of data to transfer (for you and us).
so possible offer a daily whole xml over all toons besides in org or not (i would prefer a json file rather than that ****ing xml) - so that we can easily update our databases without that much overhead.
I'd also like to see major cities like omni-1 districts revamped, so it really feels like a blade-runner (or "Deus ex") atmosphere.
Rework textures ? Add random people / robots ? Lots of things to do
Most people go and try AO for the Sc-fi but the immersion looks poor to me.
Player startup could then be set right in the middle of those cities.
Martialmad - Guru
Rome, Omni-trade, and especially Omni-Ent are pretty close to that 'Blade Runner' look now, they just need a few touches: steam/limited visibility in parts (should be easy to do under the new engine), lights in run-down area that flicker more, some stationary indigents.
Just piling on the website issue, but it is horrible. Do you realize you are linking to both dead and freaking hacked sites? Someone needs to look at this. This should not be the same person/people who were previously "responsible" for the site.
How about you start with removing this link - http://www.aomarket.com/ - in the Fan Site section. After that, how about removing links to sites where the last post happened years ago.
In total agreement that the "new player experience" needs an overhaul.
Included in the overhaul, it would be good to see either a boost to the amount of credits a newb can earn easily (to cover basic expenses) or a reduction of said expenses.
Something that may be worthy of consideration are "profession trainers" or the like. An npc or place that you are requested to report to every level or few levels or TL (whatever) that can provide guidance and information along with profession specific quests.
I'd also love there to be more general "quests" in the game, not so much for the rewards, but more to provide direction and immersion.
Please provide more AI related content for lower levels. I always get the 3 AI levels at noob isle, because I know it's going to be the only opportunity for a very long time.
Level locked items and nanos. I'm not against this concept. It's a good way to prevent "overpowering". What I'm against is putting a level capped item in a place that's practically impossible to reach at the level the item is capped at; be it a dungeon or an SL garden or whatever.
In the case of SL nanos; yes you can ask someone else to buy them for you. My response to that is; if it's that easy to side-step, why have it like that at all? I'm not suggesting that SL nanos go into RK shop terminals, just that they are placed in more level appropriate areas.
Thanks for all the hard work you have put into AO; here's to a prosperous future :-)
Well, Haxi and other have right... AO site looks like abondonned while ago. I mean, look at the news... or links![]()

1. Obligitory fix the beginning of the game, both the Island and introducing new players to mechanics of the game. perhaps a quest chain that starts on island, or backyard or whatever will be the new starting point in game and allows players to earn say a set of leveling armor, weapon upgrades, cash, nanos, hud items, implants etc so that by the time they are done with it they can be decently equipped to go to totw. these quests can require players to use whompas, talk to bartenders in shops, use grid, subway, maybe an npc in front of totw etc etc so they learn the lay of the land and there class....
2. Bring life back to Rubi Ka via making shop items usable, reworking dungeons(slight update to Subs, completely update of xp/loot/expand map in cyborg barracks, smug den, foremans, will 2 fight, CoH, IS, team mishes, mercs, HI, RK uniquies ie the pest, soldiers, etc etc etc) , give people a reason to be in the wilds of RK.
3. get bs at all level ranges running, red v blue it or something, maps that fit tl RUNSPEED, new maps, new games. .
4. fix the normal leveling experience in sl so that A) people actually use scheol and pen, and B) there are better options for leveling then heck noobing. maybe its different level locks, maybe its fixing team missions, maybe its new dungeons, better statics etc...
5. ai instance for lower levels.
6. do something with the pyramid in Hope for TL7 super Raid.
7.Story line developments
8. do something with neuts
Awesome plans there.
To answer your question, here is a suggestion and maybe it's possible to shoot two birds with one stone with this one (i.e revamp old encounters, and improve BS).
Start by 'fixing' neutrals. Give them token boards, freddy sleeves, gunships and whatnot, but make them as viable as omnis or clans.
Once we have 3 true factions with numbers in each, change Tarasque:
Make it like a medieval battlestation, with decon room and all that good stuff. But make it so each faction has its own entrance (like A, B, C in BS today). Tarasque would then spawn in what we call Middle in BS.
The winning faction gets to loot it, while the other two are removed from that BS as it ends.
Now that we have 3 true factions, change, actually enable, the Notum War sites that exist in Shadowlands, and let the fun begin ^^.
Very glad to see that funcom finally took a very serious interest in what the players actually want in the game
Firstly New open PvP content + new BS maps.
Pvp is a very integral part of the game, and in storyline terms its pretty much what the game is all about. Trying to get people of certain level ranges to play BS is apparently very difficult ( currently rk2= 150-174, 210-220. 20-45 also runs very occasionallyI propose a reward of some kind for froob or non LE people, not anything as good as ofab armor but just something to entice them to come and play battlestation--which in my opinion is one of the best pvp experiences in the game, however is unfortunately very repetitive so maybe new maps (outdoors, smaller 3v3? larger 10v10?) and DEFINATELY something that allows newb or gimp players be competitive-- not able to kill the best 'twinks' etc but not get completely raped(4hit) all the time from spawn. Also not take and hold type, but maybe free for all (first to 25, 50, 100 kills?) or team based (first team to 500 kills?) --another thought, MAZE PvP :O
Alien playfields at levels below and above Sector 10.
Very important to everybody with ai expansion. Im thinking something like a new small rk pf with s10 style locks, but that you can gain access to. ie, lvl 10-24, 25-49, 50-74, 75-110? as they tie in with both BS locks and some RK pf's (subway, CoH.) however if you are level 24, and wish to get items or better xp etc from pf, then by completing the current pf you are able to go in, then you could 'unlock' the next one, so 10-24 char could go to 25-49 pf and maybe higher if they are good enough--solo mish but team instance possibly? Just throwing some ideas out, nothing is set in stone and obviously other people may have other/better ideas than meThis allows people to cut the crappy grey mobs that they do not wish to fight, while also making for a challenging instance to gain axp, and get bots from the bosses? --AoE root, snare resistant. no jokes.
New start-up experience.
A MUST. No questions asked. Noob island is ok, however I can almost guarantee that most gamers that leave AO on the island dont really see the full picture of how great this game really is--such as PvP(secret underground room at the back of docks?hint hint), implants and twinking, crafting (also something that needs improving), alien ship encounter?, also the giant building that has no meaning?. I think also that 'start up experience' does also mean mainland at low level-- subway could also perhaps be improved, and maybe make a GUI guide to help new players learn the currently very difficult(but amazingly customizable) interface--maybe an NPC that you can choose to have when you go to the mainland that shows you where basic shop and subway are?
Revamping old encounters + loot to today's standards. ie: Hollow Island
Possibly--however i dont really see a way to make this possible without restricting froobs from doing the raids? perhaps upgradable items and less, tougher mobs so the raid isnt 3 hours++ long. Im not sure about other content that follows this example, perhaps some other rk raids.. but to improve loot just make it upgradable with items from different places in the game that are fairly hard to get ( collector, beast, s13,28,35,42, texx, mitaar, DB1,2, battlestation maybe? ) which also may increase the amount that people do the older raids in the game to get new equipment etc.
Just my 10$![]()
A person so secret that no one will ever find them.

Is MassDebater a giant Rtard? : CONFIRMED
I'd definitely come back if you make new, fun BS maps. I know at least 5 more people that would too. PVP is the best part of the game in my opinion.
Based God.
Ugh. No.
Granted, most people level on brink mobs until they can do Inf missions but fix the underlying problem instead of locking areas like a series of dungeons.
I would like the see the dozens of Elysium quests publicized better (maybe the portal tech can help there since we're all chatting him up) and the rewards bumped. Then - do the same thing in all the other zones. There are a pile of cool ways to get xp/creds and explore in Ely but how many of you have done the Excalibur's End mission. Or the Mortiig chieftain. Or know that you can mission a small set of buffing rings.

You are a rare exception unfortunately. Most soldiers do not put effort into their DD, and neither do most adventurers. In the end, there is no way to guarantee the 220 advy on lft is one of the 1% of adventurers who will do significant damage. Unless the adventurers are forming the raids or teams themselves, it is rare that they get invited.
So yes, I am hanging out with the wrong advies, but so is most of the AO population
And about attracting new players, I have always had this idea for an awesome pvp introduction that took place on the battlestation. Featuring all the professions sort of going 1 on 1, one kills another, then the next prof shows up and takes on that player, that damn doctor shows up and messes things up, then an agent unconceals behind em and shoots em at close range, etc etc. I think a lot of games do that, but it is great for attracting players when your character resume is displayed in this way.

Yeah, as much as this game needs new content (especially for newbies), I think new playfields/armor/weapons should come after the engine.
reasons being:
- Artists won't have to design new content for the old engine, then redesign the same stuff to make it shinier for the new engine.
- Any influx of new players running around new starter zones, missions, etc. won't be screaming "0.33fps slideshow! I quit!"
