17.7 Preview (Updated)

17.7 Update Preview

The main content updates in the 17.7 version will be a series of new quests based in and around Rubi-Ka.

The Dust Brigade Threat

High Level players will be tasked with investigating how the Dust Brigade seem to have acquired ancient Xan technology. Increased activity by this militant group is concerning the leadership on both sides of the factional divide. Why are they seemingly intent on digging up ancient sites across Rubi-ka? What exactly might they be up to?

Players will be able to take part in a quest line that sees them aiding the investigation into exactly what the Dust Brigade’s plans are. Something has prompted their return to prominence, now you are needed to help discover what it is!

This exciting and extended quest line will also carry forward into future updates, preparing you for events to come and providing information and items that will be vital to battling future threats!

The Mysteries of Rubi-Ka

With many strange discoveries being made in Shadowlands and the scientific communities’ knowledge of the ancient Xan increasing attention now turns to the strange anomalies found on Rubi-Ka itself.

What are the links between the unexplained on Rubi-Ka and the ancient beings that once mastered Notum for themselves!

Mid level players will be able to explore a series of quests that will see them exploring Rubi-Ka for the answers to these questions and more! Split into three distinct level ranges, (starting at level 60, then from 80 onwards and lastly for those above level 120 – there are no max level restrictions either, so you can go back and do them with higher level characters if you wish)

Gameplay Features and updates!

Of course the updates aren't just about the new content, and there will be the usual host of new game updates, new items and changes, here are some of the things you can expect to see in 17.7

New Profession Nanos!

As part of the rewards for the new Dust brigade Quest line each profession will be able to gain a great new set of four new nano formulas. These nanos will require a special new profession nanodeck item that is worn in the HUD / UTILS slots to be able to cast. The nanodeck is a reward from this quest line.

The new nanos will offer some great new abilities as well as some extensions for existing nano lines for each profession.

New OFAB Bracers

New items will be added to the OFAB vendors in the shape of special new bracers designed specifically for use on the battlestation. These new bracers will allow users to fire off debuffs onto their opponents. Different sets of bracers will be available that provide different potential debuffs.

New Rubi-Ka Weapon Modification system

New items will be available that breath new life into some very old weapons! Many of the original Rubi-Ka weapons can now be upgraded through a series of tradeskill processes and upgrades. Not only can you improve their performance, but they can be further modified with extra special attacks and other modifications.

Aimed at bridging the gap between the old Rubi-Ka weapons and the expansion weapons, you will fine weapons of all types that have been given the upgrade. So regardless of what weapons you prefer to use there should be something of interest.

Some of the upgrade items will be available from new vendors, some from the new quest lines and some can be found amongst the mobs on Rubi-Ka. All these weapons will be useable by free players and subscribers alike.

New Shoulder pad rendering Options

Players will now be able to choose which of their shoulder pads renders visibly (or choose to keep both if they want to combine them)

New Locking Hotbar option

Players will be able to ‘lock’ their hotbars through an option so that they don’t accidently remove icons from the hotbars while using them.

New Perk, Item and Nano fixes

There will of course also be the usual selection of other fixes, tweaks and changes so keep your eyes out for the preliminary update notes when the update gets released to the Test Live dimension over the coming weeks.
