A New Arrival...

A tall slender man stepped out of the shuttle arrival into the Rubi-Ka Welcoming terminal. Glancing around he search for his Omni-Tek liason that was to escort him to his new position as one of Omni-Tek's newest Engineer apprentice.

"Excuse me, excuse me are you Cyrus Stritzke?" asked a portly man wearing a delicate suit a few sizes to small.

"Viray, everyone calls me Viray. Are you my liason?" the slender man replied.

"Well yes and no." the fat man proceeded to dig within his pockets only to finally produce a crinkled pink sheet of paper. "You see the guy to be your Employer has expired... er well as to say was terminated. As such Omni-Tek will also no longer need your services." surprisingly fast for such a blubous figure the man turned on his heels and made for the terminal exit, "Have a nice day."

Staring blankly at the pink slip and thinking of all he had left behind to venture to Rubi-Ka and join the Omni-Tek workforce, only one sentence sprang from his lips... "Welcome to Rubi-Ka..."

Beams of bright energy laced through the dark void above a blue globe of light. Dark fat gnats hung weightless as their prickly hides spouted pure energy at one another. One large nobbly gnat turn its attention to the glowing blue orb and spit fire at it... across the surface life was remove in a blaze of flames and pain.

Viray awoke on his hard concrete floor. His apartment was furnished by the ICC, the same government that had preached peace to the Corporations during the great Corporate Wars that rendered whole planets barren of all life, a silent beep came from Viray's small automaton standing in the corner.

It had been a week since Viray had landed on Rubi-Ka and been deserted by Omni-Tek, and life had not gotten any easier. Struggling to put together a automaton had been a task, rummaging through the junk, shifting debris, and finally putting the finishing touches on a delicate yet hardy machine.

"Brrraaabbba" spouted the tiny automaton. "I know that mission is due in 2 hours, thanx for reminding me RustBucket..." sighed Viray. "Brrrab Baaaba" the automaton spouted again. "No, I won't be replacing you with the money I get..."

Viray rubbed his eyes. "Another beautiful day on Rubi-Ka." He thought to himself.
