Idea to take money out of the economy, and inject some fun...

Ok - now I'll be honest I've not read this forum a huge amount, so if these ideas have been suggested before then I apologise.

I think whan Rubi-Ka really needs is the following...

A CASINO!! (I know this has been suggested now - sorry) and BRONTO RACING!!

Sited in Newland or Wine so all factions can access it, this would be a way of taking some of the money out of the game, but also injecting another bit of fun into the world.

There could be machines like shop terminals that play like the slots in Vegas!

There could also be a few NPCs that you could play for example, pontoon with....

Then how about - these other EXCITING GAMBLING OPPORTUNITIES......

"THE BROKEN SHORES BRONTO DERBY"

Hosted once a day at the Broken Shores Race Track (hehe) - 6 Minibrontos race while excited spectators place bets.
NPCs could act as "bookmakers", giving you a betting slip in return for your stake money. If you win you return to the npc and give him the slip and collect the cash...

So what do you recon folks - I've got my asbestos pants on - flame away!

The reason for this is that gambleing is regluated in most states in such a way as to make it illegal to gamble with anything that can be demonstrated to have a dollar value.

You can demonstrate that credits in game have a real dollar value.

Thus the instant you allow people to gamble with them, you fall under 48 diffrent state's regulations at the same time.....a nightmare for sure.


This is the same reason that in some 32 states you are not allowed to play Magic:The Gathering Online.

Actually they will let you play. They will let you buy cards. They will _NOT_ let you win cards. You can still enter a booster draft, they'll take your money, but if you win they keep all the cards if you live in one of those 32 states.

Also, while you can enter a tournament, or even a 2 player ante game, if you win either you win nothing, the ante'd card and the tournament prize are forfit if you are in any of those 32 states....

not entirely true, off-shore online gambling sites are exempt from those rules...

Designer yalms with different colors and styles in the 10 million dollar plus range would also drain money out of the economy.

Yalms with weapons and upgradeable armor and stuff would be interesting.

Ive tried the Casino idea before, I only got; "It would be hard to implement, more developing, and less time to fix serious bugs, and there would be lots of exploiting". (the exploiting part I laughed at, they admit whenever they add new content, they open for expliots? *cough bad programming*)

As for the legal issues, overseas gambling is ok, as rk2 server is located in europe (I think), then gambling there would be ok. Not sure about rk1.

I still think it is a great idea.
