Why do you feel like you need to "explain" stuff like that? It's pretty effing basic knowledge and it had absolutely nothing to do with what I said. If you use 2 envys the attack rating won't change no matter what you do. If I just hit a full auto with my left hand gun, I can still use burst on right hand gun because it's not empty. If I had the full auto gun in right hand, burst would be locked.
Id rather have a gun like "O'l Painless" fron Predator :P

How about these for balance.
1. How about giving us ranged weapon support like enfo's with melee you know the 1hb/2hb specialists that can use 1he/2he/melee energy and piercing pretty well with nanolines for all? Why shouldnt sol's be able to use pistols/shotty/grenade if enfo's are masters of melee shouldn't we be masters of ranged?
2. Also on damage, why not have special attacks- call it what you want bullets/silencers whatever similar to MA special attacks or even the ice dmg pvp booster from alappa, or special arrows from alba. That might be best of both worlds with options. Special tradeskill arrows from shops and hedgehog grenades even fixer burst rounds all have the template why not modify it for some special soldier attacks. Maybe that would offset losing dmg from perkline a bit.
New perkline or power up mods.. no comment.
Traders reflect borrow whatever... it sucks.
But so does adv/shade brawl/ stun/ fast/ sneak/ dimach... OUCH!
Ive played AO for a loooong time and there has never been or can never be parity between ALL the professions, its not possible imo. Some are always going to be better at some things than others, pvp included. Everyone has had their day in the sun at one point or another, some (advies) have never seen a cloudy day lol.
Personally I like pvp but im not good at it with all the number crunching, min-maxing etc. I prefer to be better at pvm than pvp, because there is a LOT of pvm before you get 220 ladies and gents. And even more pvm while you are gathering all that 220 endgame gear you want before you pvp lol.

Idea for third perk in new perkline; imho it's barely useful, so I'd say either give it stun as already suggested or make the taunt have some area effect.

Reformat the damage perks if you can. Killing stuff in pvp as a soldier revolves around spike damage, right now we are looking at steady damage with large pauses inbetween.
First perk : whatever, lifetap, who cares.
Second perk : 3 Second execute time, large damage 4000-8000?
Third perk : Small damage, 1 second execution time, a 3 second stun. 500-1500 damage?
Fourth Perk : 2 second execution time, medium-high damage, 4500-5500?
(these damage ranges are clearly before pvp reduction and reflects.. will still suck in real execution)
Allows the soldier to "prep" the target for killing using the first major DD perk, the stun allows the soldier an opportunity to kill them without the target insta-CH'ing the damage, and the last perk and specials will follow, maybe by a 1 second perk that we can end the chain with to take advantage of the last second on that stun.
Spike damage is what AO pvp is, right now we are looking at 1 regular per 1 perk with no clear buildable killing techniques because everything is exactly the same.
The reason you cant kill someone one second, and can kill them the next, is because you change how you attempt to kill them. if one pattern becomes predictable, you use your brain and switch it up. With everything on 2 second timers with similar damage ratio's and no tools like stuns or anything to disable the target.. soldiers really will be a faceroll profession in pvp..
Things are still being discussed and there isn't much Berinda and I can say right now.
We also have yet to talk about soldier nanos.
But I will say that we won't have anywhere near as big a problem having to spike damage to kill certain people in the rebalance.
If we are to lose as much as it looks like we will, they need to give us something. Ppl dont like cookie cutter setups? Great, Make ALL ranged skills green. Everyone of them, even them up. Give us options. Ppl prefer AR soldiers? Cool, make one. Someone wants a grenade Soldier? Go for it. "Masters of ranged weaponry". Specials should prolly stay where they are, but open up all the skills. Make ALL ranged weapons open to Soldiers. If it turns out that pistol=assault rifle=smg=shotgun, then so be it. Theres NO reason not to throw us a bone on this.
I've been fighting for us to be able to use every kind of ranged weapon, and the devs working the weapon skill buffs like they did in the nano doc is a good first step. But we're not going to know anything for sure until the item rebalancing.

i would like soldiers to get all possible ranged perkline acces. like pistol perkline, max shotgun perk line, acces to the fixers perkline for their fa/smg. evrything, and we can build a setup off our wishes. soldier is soldier... a wepon master. wtb all the diffrent ranged perklines ingame now!

Interesting thoughts. We have enough IP to max two weapon lines as well as AS, evades and NR now. Last year I had three weapon lines maxxed (AR, RE and SMG) as well as AS maxxed for switching between Anger and Envy, at the sacrifice of Duck and some Ranged Init.
I don't think we should have to swap all the time and reperk just to fight different opponents though. AR and SMG should both be able to touch evaders via Full Auto and Burst.
Rifle or RE or whatever else shouldn't be required to do more than minimal damage on evaders, but should at the most give a slight advantage over AR/SMG.
And of course there have already been suggestions from various players for a Heavy Weapons option with no specials that could do light to moderate damage on people in an area of effect (perhaps a 100% duck check on target with a 75% check on other people in a 10m radius).
I keep thinking about what would happen if AMS set the reflects, I'm afraid the reflect value may end up lower.
Considering this :
Current (obsolete) doc : PNS + AMS means high reflects, but you can get hit by -30% from a trader, NT with the right charge and engie pet.
AMS reflect is set : You get x%, debuffs will ignore that because plus or mins reflect doesn't count.
AMS will be easier to outlast, but I'm afraid it won't be accepted to have solds with >80% reflects with no means to lower that even for 40s. It might be a shock for many to end at 75% or even 80%, but at least you can stop having traders and engies hugging.
Tbh I'm already suggested this but it didn't get me far. But I still think it solves many problems. For low levels, froobs, imbalances for and against solds... Backed up with HP and other actions (ie hot without payback) it may work.
Now if everyone think it's a bad idea I'll just pass.

We know reflects are gonna get hammered. Getting rid of the "payback" would be a decent bone to throw to us.
I still think a HUGE step would be to make single reflects, RRFE, ect, self only.
Reflects should not be touched.
and Payback should not be introduced to game.
In other words, don't touch the soldier profession, and if you do, please know very well what you are doing, cause we're on a very limited equilibrium.
Hard to say, AMS is definitely changing in one way or another and we're getting bumps elsewhere. What we must do is to remain the heavy offense / defense class we are today.
I'm looking to bring us in a direction that will not let our toolset rot for years. OFAB back and FA are cool at day 1 but day 3650 everyone else got a bump in damage and debuff while we still do 15k FA.
Still no update on the documents but I'm pretty sure we're not done yet.
Edit : And it's not about throwing bones thinking about the big picture is important.
