Hello,
My name is Doctor Leeroy Jenkins. I will be briefing you on the fundamentals of the Phatznet raid bot, but first a little bit about myself. I graduated from the Institution of Mental Retardation where I studied why retards like to play with balls in traffic. After graduating I took an internship at a spaghetti surgery clinic in downtown Atlantis. There I, not only performed surgery on spaghetti, but on burritos as well. I answered an add in the news paper about someone looking for a doctor to observe the affects the raid bots are having on the community which brought me here. My findings are shocking and may reduce sperm count and cause ovarian cancer if read. You have been warned.
My first observation was the amount of people attending these raids. Close to 100 during peak times then only a mere quarter of that during non-peak times. During peak times there were individuals known as "raid leaders". These "raid leaders" would organize the raid force into completing the task of killing unique monsters that drop unique loot. I noticed that a tank team would be made and a team caller selected. I also noticed that the tank team and team caller would only be made upon "raid leader" request. Any effort attempted by a non "raid leader" to organize these two would be ignored.
During the peak times there were a lot of "raid leaders" in the bot known as Phatznet. It seems that the "raid leaders" would discuss amongst themselves who would lead the raid and once a "raid leader" was chosen, the above mentioned, would take place. The force of 100 would then proceed to kill everything in its path and the raid would go smoothly. Upon dabbling into the communites reaction to such things, I was shocked to find out by how many upset individuals there were. They seemed to not like how hundreds of people had to raid one area for the same loot that everyone wants and wait months to get it.
During this observation I also found that the force during non peak times would have a vastly smaller amount of people than the ones during peak time. Also it seemed to have taken a lot longer to complete the raid zone then it would with the much larger force. With the small amount of players also came a lack of these "raid leaders" being online. With the lack of leaders it seemed to have postponed raiding and prolonged the respawn time on the unique monsters and angered a lot of people since they could not raid, even if they had all the means to do so, but could not without a "raid leader".
Upon further research I found a lot of the community complaining about this. The most common reply was that people should apply for "raid leader". This is easier said than done and is not a problem that can be solved by pointing fingers. It IS a matter of responsibility on the players but those that are in charge of hiring "raid leaders" dont seem to provide anything special for the "raid leader". Several times I have witnessed the raid not starting because there was no "raid leader" and it seems to be an on going problem.
I have thought up of several solutions to combat these problems but the only one that would be remotely possible would be to let the raid force raid without a "raid leader" and all items be flat rolled. If the people in charge of Phatznet can not provide adequate raiding conditions for the players then the players MUST take matters into their own hands without fear of repurcussions from the community. Of course there are other ways to deal with the problem such as making Phatznet more open for temporary "raid leader" status. But what do I know, I am just a doctor.
UPDATE:
Since the publication of my findings I have learned that most of the community is, for lack of a better word, dumb. They seem to make things up and go on witch hunts without the proper evidence. I have given up on them as a whole and only wish they stop breathing to save this world from their unusefulness.
Sincerely Dr. Leeroy Jenkins
