Swiftmind: Greetings and welcome to the FTL public meeting.
Waggery: smiles
Swiftmind: We will now get started. First I will introduce the people up here.
Swiftmind: I am Director Moscardelli of a sub-department of Omni-Mining. I am glade to see all of you interested in the FTL concept. I believe it will help both neutral and omni citizens alike.
Waggery: looks around her and nods to the people she recognizes
Venomscrier: claps
Waggery: applauds also
Swiftmind: To my left is Director Jurik of RUR and to my right Mr. Orender of the Independent Rubikans.
Enrima: coughs
Venomscrier: claps
Swiftmind: Mr. Orender has a few things to say. Please step forward Mr. Orender.
Yarko: thank you director
Yarko: Ladies, gentlemen and neuters, greetings,
Yarko: For years now, Neutrals have been unable to obtain certain goods the usual way.
Yarko: These are goods that are not on offer by Neutral shop terminals or traders.
Yarko: These are goods that are unavailable to Neutrals by factioned shop terminals or traders.
Yarko: These goods include items such as high quality medical supplies, nano crystals and... fashion.
Yarko: smiles
Yarko: Furthermore, it is impossible for Neutrals to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends in an Omni-Tek establishment,
Yarko: or to get a Bronto-burger when hunger strikes in an Omni-Tek town.
Yarko: The catering staff simply don't attend to Neutrals.
Yarko: The fact that certain items can not be acquired the regular way opens opportunities for the less well-meaning and profit seeking elements in our society.
Yarko: I recently got a report about huge profits being made by selling bad quality and even expired stims and decayed nano crystals.
Yarko: Not only are such practices a danger to public health,
Yarko: not only do people this way unwillingly support criminal organizations,
Yarko: this way, Neutrals also need to spend much more of their hard earned credits then they should.
Yarko: Ladies, gentlemen and neuters,
Yarko: For these and other reasons, we promote fare trade, we promote free trade.
Yarko: Neutral shops and traders won't be affected since they do not sell these goods anyway.
Yarko: Omni-Tek shops and traders will benefit because of the extra customers.
Yarko: And last but not least:
Yarko: Neutral citizens will benefit because they will be able to acquire high quality goods for a fare price.
Yarko: Ladies, gentlemen and neuters,
Yarko: Join our campaign to lift trade restrictions and promote trade
Yarko: Support the Free Trade League
Yarko: I thank you
Waggery: Hear, hear!
Swiftmind: claps
Minage: applauds
Stanislaw: nods solemly
Ziithka: Claps
Destractor: claps
Dookumi: smiles slightly
Swiftmind: Thank you Mr. Orender.
Venomscrier: shakes head.
Swiftmind: Now on to Director Jurik who also has a few things to say. Miss. Jurik please step forward.
Venomscrier: nods
Venomscrier: shakes head.
Dabblez: The Free Trade League has come into existence to campaign for changes in Omni Laws
Dabblez: Laws which at this point in time are obsolete, inconsistent and unfair
Dabblez: The recently expanded Omni-Tek Board of Directors gives us today
Dabblez: and opportunity to make our voices heard
Dabblez: But the way ahead is long.
Dabblez: This is not something I expect we will resolve quickly
Dabblez: Meetings such as these are important to raise awareness of the issue
Dabblez: And our first aim is to get more organisations to sign up to the FTL charter
Dabblez: to date FTL has Devil's Advocate Independent Rubikans Omni-Mining RUR and the South Rubi-Ka Society as members
Waggery: Yay!
Dabblez: But we need to get more and more organisations involved
Venomscrier: shakes head
Dabblez: Which means making a lot of noise
Dabblez: rallies, marches, fundraiser parties
Dabblez: anything goes..
Waggery: Parties would be a good way!
Dabblez: just make sure it gets noticed... and it’s legal!
Venomscrier: shakes head again not liking this
Waggery: DA parties are legal!
Dabblez: Right that all I want to say
Dabblez: Thank you
Swiftmind: claps
Yarko: applauds
Waggery: applauds again
Minage: applauds
Ziithka: claps
Dookumi: applaudes
Swiftmind: Thank you Miss. Jurik.
Blingbonk: In laimens terms then, FTL is trying to allow Neutrals access to Omni-Tek vending machines?
Swiftmind: We will now take questions or comments from people. I will be acting as the meeting chair. If you would like to ask a question or say a comment please give me a tell with ? for a question or ! for a comment.
Waggery: waves to Domiana
Venomscrier: raises arm
Enrima: has a comment
Waggery: Come sit over here Domi
Swiftmind: When you speak please say you are done when you are finished.
Venomscrier: has comment
Swiftmind: Destractor is the first to give me a tell. What is your question Destractor?
Destractor: I believe Miir is a lil different to omni vendors, does anyone know why they will only sell to omni and clan personnel?
Swiftmind: I can answer that.
Destractor: that’s all I have to ask
Destractor: looks at his rags
Swiftmind: Miir is currently under Omni-Tek Rubi-Ka's trade restrictions. As you have noticed these restrictions are a little odd at times. This is what the FTL would like to fix.
Dabblez: nods
Swiftmind: Does that answer your question?
Destractor: So omni trade restrictions allows them to sell to the clans?
Destractor: looks confused
Dabblez: No, Miir shops in Clan territory operate under Clan laws
Destractor: ah ok
Venomscrier: raises arm wanting to say something about this.
Sephrim: scratches his head... Looking distracted.
Swiftmind: Next we have Enrima with a question.
Enrima: Ok a quick comment before I have to leave you. By my profession I have ties with Neutrals, even Omni employees. But This Fair Fair, being totally legitimate, raises a political problem... You know already where is the majority in Tir, aka where the Sentinels stand. Before petitioning forward the FT, all Neutrals must wonder if it will serve their purpose.
Enrima: To put frankly: Sentinels' supporters will make you look more Omnis than Omnis, and myself I wonder if the OTs don't have to win in this business
Enrima: Fair Trade contains in itself the risk of an open war between the Clans and the Neutrals, and that's a risk you must understand
Yarko: hmm, well...
Enrima: done thank you
Venomscrier: making a report on this
Yarko: first of all, we don't exclude the Clans from this
Sephrim: sighs.
Yarko: should the Clans wish to join, they are welcome
Yarko: if they don't... it would hardly be fair to accuse us of supporting OT would it?
Yarko: they have their chance, it's up to them
Venomscrier: sighs
Enrima: nods
Yarko: does that answer your question?
Enrima: It was more of a comment but, yes.
Swiftmind: Ah.
Enrima: I must leave you now, I'm in the jury of our party
Dabblez: Thank you for coming
Enrima: taps her comm link Requesting a warp
Sephrim: Fair well Enrima...
Yarko: Enjoy your party
Waggery: wonders what kind of parties the Clan have, that have a jury
Venomscrier: Farewell.
Swiftmind: Thank you for coming Enrima.
Enrima: you'r all welcome, again
Venomscrier: nods
Swiftmind: Next we have Venomscrier with a comment.
Dookumi: looks over and just listens
Venomscrier: I think if they want what we have they should join Omni-Tek.
Venomscrier: Also.
Dabblez: shakes her head
Blingbonk: Swift didnt mention the Clan in this
Venomscrier: Miir is its own business, under any form of free and fair trade it should be allowed to decide who it sells its wares too!
Yarko: raises an eyebrow
Sephrim: blushes
Slotine: looks at venom for the outburst.
Venomscrier: That is all.
Dookumi: frowns and raises a brow
Venomscrier: That is all.
Dabblez: Venomscrier, the principle is called reciprocity
Dabblez: If neutrals allow us full access to their shops and services, it looks bad for Omni that we do not return the favour
Venomscrier: If they want to stay out of it....
Venomscrier: Then that’s them.
Dabblez: there are many more substantial reasons to work for Omni-Tek than access to Mirr
Sephrim: Sephrim nods
Dabblez: This ban on selling to Neutrals in selected shops is just petty, and it only harms Omni shopkeepers
Venomscrier: But, like I said Miir is its own business, under any form of free and fair trade it should be allowed to decide who it sells its wares too!
Dabblez: Bronto Burger, Mongol Meet, RUR, Sol Toys
Dabblez: All these good are sold in Omni shops
Dabblez: but not to Nuetrals. Why?
Venomscrier: thinks about it.
Venomscrier: I see....
Sephrim: Yes, why...
Venomscrier: nods
Dabblez: The guys that make the leet doll
Sephrim: Only a rather skeletal description of the actual problem has been described here.
Swiftmind: smiles at Trybes comment.
Dabblez: hides her leet doll
Venomscrier: laughs
Venomscrier: I said what I wanted to say. That is all.
Swiftmind: If you are finished Dabblez I will move on to the next person.
Dabblez: Sure
Venomscrier: nods
Swiftmind: Next we have Waggery with a question.
Waggery: nods
Waggery: My question has possibly been already discussed, if so I apologize. Anyway, are we campaigning to have neutral cities with Omni shops in them?
Yarko: Err... no, we have no plans to conquer Omni-Ent right now...
Yarko: smiles
Waggery: No, I meant for instance, to have Omni shops in NLC
Venomscrier: nods
Yarko: The other way around really, allow Neutrals to shop in OT shops
Blingbonk: sighs in confusion
Waggery: But, not to have them in neutral cities? For convenience?
Yarko: Hmm, that was not our idea...
Sephrim: With the same cost modifiers applied to Omni-Tek for using Neutral terminals, of course...
Swiftmind: or aim
Waggery: Nono
Waggery: Omni citizens should receive their benefits in them of course
Venomscrier: shakes head.
Waggery: Imagine, Borealis with Omni supermarkets!
Venomscrier: .....
Waggery: But wouldn't that be grand?
Waggery: grins
Venomscrier: shakes head
Trybes: Instead of selling our wears to neutral merchants we could sell our goods to every neutral citizen at a lesser cost..
Trybes: No more middleman.
Trybes: smiles warmly.
Domiana: grins.
Waggery: Exactly!
Swiftmind: I think you have the wrong impression. We want to remove restrictions on neutrals in current shops in Omni-Tek cities. We have no aims to build any new shops anywhere.
Trybes: Hmm.. then it's something to think about then, eh?
Waggery: What a shame.
Waggery: It would be fabulous, think about it!
Waggery: What says Director Jurik about this?
Venomscrier: shakes head
Trybes: Sure it might put some neutral shop owners out of business.. but think of the deals you could be getting.
Dabblez: We have a manifesto with its stated aims
Yarko: frowns
Dookumi: raises a brow
Domiana: }
Dabblez: This is what we plan to stick to
Waggery: Ah.
Dabblez: Your suggestion is a different issue
Waggery: My question's been answered. Thank you
Waggery: I'm done.
Swiftmind: Very well.
Swiftmind: Ah
Swiftmind: Next we have Blingbonk with a question.
Blingbonk: Uhm yes thank you
Blingbonk: since my last question I have 12 more questions trying to follow this meeting
Blingbonk: so I will just pass, and just float this out for thought
Blingbonk: I was talking to a neutral friend, I had sent him to a shop, in Omni Ent
Blingbonk: He had to explain to me, he cant use the shops, or clan shops, I didn’t even know this until recently, It just seems wrong, that we can use all neutral shops, clan and omni, and The fence sitters cannot use the reverse
Dabblez: nods
Blingbonk: Sorry. That concludes my statement/question
Swiftmind: nods
Swiftmind: Thank you Blingbonk.
Dabblez: I think we are all in agreement on that
Swiftmind: Yes this is why we are here today.
