Exclamation A more advance kind of "People of Rubi-Ka"? (Funcom READ please)

    Hello again freinds.

I got an idea that would be verry cool if you ask me,
this thing that they have started "People of Rubi-Ka"
could be a bit more advance if you ask me..
A verry cool thing would be to have the same thing as
Ultima Online had/has. You guys who don't got a idea
what I talk about let me explain

Ultima Onlines verision of "PoR-K" (peoples of rubi-ka..)
is - as I said erlier - a bit more advanced than the one
Funcom has, well anyway it works like this:
    __________________________________________
You can anytime check how your character
looks like in the game, not just the face but
the whole body armour included, you can even
see your skills and what you got in them...
And if you ask me would that be a really cool thing
to be able to in Anarchy-Online.
    __________________________________________
So what is the problem Funcom?
Maybe their isn't any but you just dont do it because no
body have told ya that it would be great to have that
    system, well im telling ya!

Well, I guess that's all, and you who read this post please
reply with your thoughs about this idea, would'nt it be pretty
    cool??

    Dont think so

To display the stats would not be a problem I suppose but who wants others to be able to see them?

To display the armor on your character (getting an actual pic of your chara) thats probably a completely different problem. Just think about the possible combinations of races, faces, body fat and heights! Then add all the different armor slots on the chara and then all the pieces of armor and clothing in the game. You ask Funcom to take a pic of every possible combination! They are not gonna take milllions of pics to display the right one for your chara and what else could they do? Only alternative is including such a feature in the actual game engine, where you can enter the name of a character and getting a 3D snapshot of the person.

    Well you see...

    The thing is this,
Funcom must have the pict of all modells in the whole game
alreddy, they did programm the game afterall, it would take
some time but when it would be done imagine the coolness
in this thing! But the sulution is not a snapshot.... I'm not a pro-
grammer but in Ultima Online did they do this:
They had the modells of ALL weapons and armour, placed them
so they would load up on a "naked" character. Then you would
be able to see all the around and such. And it can't be THAT
many modells of Weapons, armours, clothers and such. Not as
much so they would ignore the whole idea of doing it.
But I dont mean a verry detailed character, not very big
but you should atleast be able to see how your character look's
    like.

You should check out this homepage http://www.uo.com/community
and check out how they have arranged it!

Obviously most of you arent programmers. There would be a set base of pictures of armors. All you would have to do is take the picture of your character and take the current information from your character (armor and weapons used at the time) and run a query and fill in the spaces with the different info. They have the ability to do it runtime when your in the game no problem. What would be hard about doing it through the net? not that much, but the reason they dont is because its not that needed, they are already rushing to get all the bugs out, not add on needless aditions (personally, I would love to have this ability, but at the same time, I want NT's fixed up first)
Frelo - Level 29 Fixer (and loving every minute of it)

Anahata - Level 110 Solitus Trader
Khephra - Level 6 Solitus Engineer
Zaum - Level 8 Nanomage MP
Merkaba715 - Level 50 Nanomage NT (Sleeping till NT's are fixed)
Dimholt - Level 10 Atrox Enforcer
    Omni
    Rubi-Ka 1

Eh, it would be cool, but there's much better things for them to worry about right now.. I don't want someone running around getting dumb little pictures when he could be making my Fixer more useful.

    Arrow no, not *that* easy

Heh yup the reason it's no problem is that the game has a 3d engine -- internet explorer doesnt (really), that already makes it a little more difficult
They'd have to take new pics of each and every piece of equipment, for male, female, atrox, small, tall, fat, thin...... then new 2dimensional pics since the ones they got up to now are just intended to display a single piece of equipment.... proportions should be right, then combining e.g. face with partial helmets.... and all this on the web? I wouldn't want to be the guy that has to do it

I would like if it were possible to add a custom short description to your char. And how about adding a little questionnaire, so the player can e.g. select his favourite City, his favourite Monster... etc.

Like this it would be a little more interesting to look at the char bios

That would be very cool.. I THINK they said character descriptions will be implemented eventually. But I really hope we'll be able to view the descriptions in-game, too, otherwises, it's kinda useless.
