Thread: Willing to share your FPS and compare?

    Question Willing to share your FPS and compare?

    Hello,

    I have felt that the graphics performance I have been getting from AO has been weak. But I am not sure if it is all that bad. I have no one to compare to and I don't get much help from Funcom support either. They ususally do reply after a couple of days but not with anything meaningful.

    I was hoping that I could get a few people to share their configuration and I mine and Frames Per Second (FPS), you can see this by doing CTRL+ALT+F and look in the upper right, and see how we all measure up. Maybe I shouldn't be complaining.

    I think this information could be really valuable to us and Funcom. Could we use the following format or similiar?

    Here is my good stuff (FPS are just estimates)

    FPS in a busy city like Tir, Newland or Omni HQ = 7-12 fps
    FPS in the middle of nowhere = 20-30 fps
    FPS High = 50 fps (Very rarely)
    FPS Low = 4 fps (Not uncommon but only lasts 10-30 seconds)

    Internet Connection = Cable Modem
    Average Ping = Almost always Green, 150 or less

    Graphics Card = VisionTek GeForce3 Ti 500
    Graphics Card Driver version = 22.80 (Haven't tested if I can zone out of store yet without crashing)
    CPU = AMD Athlon 650 MHz
    RAM = 384MB 133MHz SDRAM
    OS = Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2)
    Mother Board = ASUS K7M (All AGP updates from ASUS)

    All AO 'Settings' = High
    Using compressed textures = Yes
    Resolution = 1152x864x16 (ZBuffer)
    Using Hardware Acceleration instead of D3D HAL
    All Environment Settings Checked Except Show All Names
    CLOD = 50%
    View Distance = 75m
    Character View Distance = 70m
    Ground Quality = 130
    Ground Full Quality Radius = 7
    Server = Rubi-Ka2

    Did I miss anything important?

    What the heck does CLOD do anyways?

    Anyone comment on some ways to improve my performance without degrading image quality too much. AO is such nice eye candy!

    If anybody would take the time to compare I (and hopefully a bunch of other folks) would really appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Thrin

    Exclamation Update on Nivdia 22.80 Drivers and Configuration Above...

    The 22.8 Drivers don't seem very stable with AO. My computer resets itself on occasion. Ugh...

    22.80 drivers are very stable for me. Granted im currently running on my win98 se partition

    System stats

    P4 1.7ghz
    512mb Samsung PC800 RDRAM
    Intel 850GB motherboard
    Hercules 3d Prophet II GTS PRo (geforce 2 gts pro) overclocked to 230/460
    Soundblaster live

    A hint. Your sound AND video cannot share any irqs with ANYTHING except pci steering if you want a stable system
