Thread: a missing profession...

    Lightbulb a missing profession...

This may be a stupid suggestion, truth is I am only posting it cause my friends think i should. Basically I have seen a wide range of professions and their comparables in other games... e.g. the fixer is kind of a thief of this game, and the MP is sort of a druid whereas the NT is the mage and so and so forth.... Well I see alot of this utilized in the game, hell we even have enchanters-'crats available to make. The one class overlooked that I think should have been one of the first classes utilized is that of the Bard. Why not a "musician" of some sorts in the game?... I mean come on we have clubs dance steps drinks all that is needed for a real party in this game save the significant entertainment!... Admittedly the bard can end up also being the most annoying and least likely to get a team, but this game has done a good job so far of making each job somewhat wantable by a team. Why not the everfamous minstrel of the future, a rockstar or a DJ or something?... the character that has enchanting abilities akin to the crat yet a singing voice to boot!.. hehe... I mean they could do so much with that prof' that the idea only staggers me as I learn more about the game and all i can do is find myself going "why isn't there some kind of Bard here?" I mean come on, it seems to me that music is only making a bigger mark on society as we in the real world move forward in time. Wouldnt those in the future, those populating another planet have similar interests and realities to some extent?... Now mind you I can totally see where it wouldnt be a daily activity for a big business to buy out a record company, but it does happen and couldn't that explain such a profession available to those in Omni?... I could see where it wouldnt need much rationale in the clanner or neuter zone, but a business might seem a little off kilter for a musician...
Now when I first came to this game I thought "man, there are so many professions to choose from how could they ever expand?" Well time and trial has shown me that alot of these professions (tho each quite unique in its own way) are very much alike. I think something like a bard character might just add the extra ****e this game is missing! j/k.. I honestly dont think it will add much other than new nano's and new items such as musical insturments for such a character. Still as I said my friends thought I should present the idea and me being the sheep I am had to post it. Besides, I thought, lessee what the rest of the community might say about it... So there it is my simple nooB suggestion to the suggestion post...
so you thought i might know something? well they don't pay me enough to "know" anything

    I can see it now!

    The "Rock Star" profession.

Core nano lines include "Annoy Parents", "Telling People What To Do With Their Lyrics", "Bleeding Eardrums", a whole line of deafness (like a blind, but useless!) nanos, and of course the rare but uber "Annoying Guitar Solo", an AoE stun.

Gunned down the young. Now old, crotchety, and back.

They are adding two new professions in shadowlands, you never know

I'd like the other profession to be a pimp. It's perfect when you think about it. It would be a pet class of course, and you can summon creatures from the Rubi Ka house of ill repute, we'll call them "hoes" just for the sake of discussion to claw the eyes out of your enemies.

Some of these creatures, heretofore referred to as "hoes", could enchant a MOB, heretofore referred to as "tricks" into doing their bidding, as well as a possible chance at a long term DOT, heretofore referred to as nanoprogram: STD.

The pimp profession's key ability is his short term "flurry of pimp slap" nanos, and "too many damn gold chains" blind nanos.

What do you guys think of that?

I was thinking more of a "Company Executive" .. the main difference from a crat is that you can summon minnions called gophers who kinda looks like ARK and you can make them run around and tell people that they cant help them. this would be the mezz part of the pet.
The attack part is that they will open a trade window with the target and say the following "Spare credz plz!!" when in attack form they will change armor to miss matching lowbie armor. higher lvl version of the pet will fly around in a yalm.
other than that they have a nanoline thats called "Nerf This" which is the low end of the nano line "Nerf That" it simply debuffs you for what your worth for about 9 months before it buff you up for a few months. ofcourse ingame time.

they also has a creation line called "Nerf bat Mk 1 to 10" it mainly does the same thing as the "nerf this" and "nerf that" nano line but has the disadventage of using "throwing 2-hb" which is a black skill for this class (you startup in minus).

beside these things you have a few profession defining things like grid self and grid team nanos, promptly named "Ack! Flamers!" and "OMG fan bois". Also "Get that guy to my office" which is a summon team mate to your vicinity nano line.
all these nanos can be aquired in the Rock Star Profession only shop, among ammo, some grenades and plastic barf.
Operation impending doom 2 seems to have started with patch 15.6.5
12.6 first contact, 14.6 second attempt, 16.6 Invasion of the gabber bots ?

    Musician profession. Oh, the possibilities...

They'd need a whole line of powerful area stun nanos, for a start. Charms (Groupies!) and fears (Repel Conservatives) would obviously be strong points too. Melee Energy for combat skills I think, with a nice line of buffs. Unique weapons for the prof should include Lemmy's Electric Axe.

Tradeskills - Pharma Tech? Just guessing here, you understand

I want Golfer profession (not really)

Lots of cool profession-specific armour with silly collors and silly patterns. All the different kinds of golfclubs, some for range (with aimed) and putters for shortranged highly explosive (atrox only) golfballs that u can buy in trader/fixer-shops. Without a golfball.. TADA! it simply becomes a melee weapon! w00t!

Yalm is a laughing matter when they got ground based golfcarts. They have a pet that follows em carrying their selection of weapons (allso referred to as "caddie").

"Say my good old chap caddie of mine. Is that a silly atrox soldier I see down by the tower? Hand me my DRIVER wont ya boy"

    "FORE!"

    *smack!*
    .......................
    .............bonk!..

(way down by tower u hear "Vicinity: Nothinman: Eeeeey! That hurt! u crazy ()/#()¤/#?¤)=(`=)"

    "FORE!"

    *smack!*
    .......................
    .............bonk!..

    "Vicinity: Nothinman: Waaah!"

After reading through the boards and seeing THEDEACON'S "unique" flare for the written word it brings one question to mind?.........Do you actually play the game cause you must spend hours in the forums.....or run the flurry of hoes and get them to write your responses.

Baby, I *am* the game. I want you to play ME. My 'level' is rising in anticipation.

I usually end up casting "rage of typing" when I'm bored at work, waiting for a windows install or hard drive format and go mad on the keyboard.

It's also a quick alt-tab when I get caught looking at porn.

"Baby, there wasn't no tig ol bitties on the screen! That's the AO message board!"

I play, but maybe not as many hours as some of the other folks. Socializing is my thing, whether it be in game or on the boards

Besides, I can look at your avatar and pretend you're making an 'O' face at me and then melt the night away with a jar of mayo and my imagination...

Ok, why own idea for a new profession :

    - Doomsday evangelist.

    Various Skills :

    -Green Psychology
    -Darkest blue first aid
-Costly Treatment (kept reasonnable for game balance)

    Weapon Skills :

-Geared toward big weapons : grenades, heavy,...

Ceremonial daggers would be nice too but the can't have it all.

    Particular Nanos :

-AoE nukes that also hit his own health.
-Sacrifice: only healing spell of the class. Kills the caster but heals completly all team members, remove roots and snares on them and grants them a temporary bonus that doesn't stack with wrangles. Locked for 1 day.
    -Lower Nano-resist debuffs.
    -Lower damage/reflect shields auras.
-Second-rate get/loose aggro nanos (self or target).
    -Second-rate psychology buff.
    -Fear
