OK - a situation that came up tonight, that I've never had before and got me to thinking...
The background to this, is my selling of med suits. I've got an acquaintance that is on the OT side of the conflict. He sells me medsuits at 35k per shot, and I sell them on for 50k to the clanners. This seems fair enough to me, they seem to usually sell for 60k, and they are worth the 50k that I'm asking for their abilities. I understand that my omni acquaintance buys them for 15k or so, in the stores there, and so he makes a profit of 20k, and I make a profit of 15k. Seems like the spirit of free enterprise is served by all this. And the clans get Med-suits - hugely useful items.
This was going fine, until tonight. After one of my regular adverts on the trade channels, someone asked me if I'd sell one for 40k? Now it was advertised at 50k per shot, so I replied, that no - the price was non-negotiable. He then started to get annoyed at me. He told me that they only cost 15k in the stores and that I should sell him one for 40k. I explained my situation, that I was paying 35k for them, and that if I gave him a discount that it would cut into my not considerable profit margin.
What then followed was a 10 minute barrage of accusations and insults.
What I don't understand is why people feel that they have a right to send me insults simply because they don't like the price I'm asking. Surely if you don't like my prices, then don't buy from me. If you think you can get an item cheaper elsewhere, then go get it there. I'm not a charity, neither am I your whipping boy. I'm trying to make a living selling something that you obviously want, at a price that I think is fair. So why give me grief about it?
All rather confusing...
