Thread: what if clusters...

  1. #1

    Question what if clusters...

what if clusters would not be restricted to a single impl?
(faded cluster xxx goes into faded slot of leg impl)

Possibly give 2-3 choices of impls for a cluster, would'nt that give waaaaaay more liberty to customize your toon?
    Just an idea

I personaly would love it, but if you look at the implications, firstley how much bigger the data base would need to be, there are implant combanations we can't make now, because the don't exist on the data base, and if they wen't all the way, any cluster in any slot,
you could have: based on QL 200 clusters and imps

    x13 faded of the same skill/ability +546(skill)
    x13 bright of the same skill/ability +819(skill)
    x13 shining of the same skill/ability +1365(skill)

so total increase for lest's say pistol would be..2730 w00t

I mean it would be very nice, but I doubt we'll ever get that he he

Hehe, techically it's pretty hard to implement, but hey, that's not my problem

The problem i see with the actual way impls work, is that everybody uses the same settings, or almost...

Well, just because you would remove the location requirement doesn't mean you have to remove the restriction keeping you from placing more than one of the same type of cluster in an implant. So, then the most boost you could get would be from 13 clusters, spread between all your implants...
Screw baby Jesus, level limits make ME cry.

    its so easy man

in the first place if its a nanocluister for brawling dont name it smashing =)

you dont have to make tonsa database for implants

jsut have it be named head implant leg implant or so on
cant u see you can jsut make implants so that it simply adds stats
why do you need different item names in da first place

players dont need to know what the name of an implant is they jsut want it so taht they can get more stats

its like 60's granny trying to be kewl

The point of having only a certain place for a skill's shining/bright/faded cluster is so you have to make tough choices on what you want your character to be able to do, and so you can't buff an outrageous number of skills.

Damn, I was hoping this would say "What if QL201+ refined clusters were actually available in-game enough to make a full set of QL220's." I got excited for nothing

Well imo, that's the point, atm you have NO choice, or a slight margin, everybody uses the same impls settings (almost).

If you can put clusters where you want, now that will make your choices tough! No?

It's GOOD that there's "no choice". It's GOOD that you have to make those tough decisions. How is having a shining cluster, a bright cluster, and a faded cluster for every skill you please any different from "everyone uses the same impls settings"?

Having to make character-changing decisions in what clusters you use is a GOOD thing and REDUCES the cookiecutter-ness of characters, while having three clusters for every skill you want would increases it.

    Huh?

    1) U say it's good to have 'no choice' for u'r impl settings

    2) U say it reduces cookiecutte-ness

Now how do these 2 points go together i don't understand.

And again, i'll repeat, every profession has a 'best implant settings'.

Now if u give total freedom (wich seems to be unpossible techically), u can choose some kind of specialisation(ex, an MA could go all evades, an other could go all Offensive), that would mean that we have 2 same proff with total different settings, atm, this is not true imo.
