Thread: Social Clothing

    Lightbulb Social Clothing

It would be nice to have a 'social' tab. Only 'social' clothing could be worn here (and 'social' items held). You'd then be able to swap between your combat equipment and your social equipment quickly and easily without all the hassle of equiping and getting buffs and... Would aid the RP aspect of the game enormously I feel...

Listen up FC this is a great idea and should be fairly easy to implement. If others agree please chime in here.

or just have an "armor" section and "clothing" section on your paper doll.

you could toggle the way you want to look with a button or some such.

besides, my plasteel armor is chaffing badly, need some boxers under that stuff! YEEEOOOWWW!

I would have to say that this is an typicall example of how an flame should not look like. You need to think things through and calm down before you try to write an flame... Im sorry but I would rate this flame with an 1. Aggression is to high, grammar and cursing isnt to well planned... Maybe he has an point somewhere in there but I dont even want to find it. - Centurion3

Which is what I said Maybe 'armour' and 'clothing' would be better labels though...

    I fully agree.

I even suggested this 2 - 3 times in this forum about half a year ago.

    Thumbs up GOOD STUFF!

Yep, I'm not sure if this post was a response to my previous post or just coincidence, but in any case here was my argument:

Ok, how many times have you been dissuaded from putting on some comfy robes or something to pop down the bar in because it will take too much time and buffs to get your armour back on??

This is, as I see it, a fundamental flaw in the clothing structure for characters. I believe you should be able to don social armour, i.e. clothing that looks nice but doesn't necessarily do anything, without any need to totally re-equip your combat-grade armour afterwards.

The reason? Many will groan and moan when I say RP, but does not Funcom and ARK want to promote events, promote community, promote organisational structures? Whether it be as a guild uniform, or as a character-specific rp aid (e.g. dark robes and leathers for a sneaky agent), there are many people out there who are frustrated at the fact they cannot wear what they like when not fighting, because of the consequences of kitting up afterwards.

This is unnacceptable in its current form, and I believe rectifying this would encourage a lot more rp, a greater sense of community, and afford a lot more fun for those in the game who do enjoy a bit of rp now and again. Solutions? Have an extra slot for a set of social armour like the current Back Slot, or even better, simply a new tab window entitled clothing - stuff you can wear 'over' your armour providing you are not in a fight.

The "simple" way of Social clothing :

4 tabs ... Armor, Weapons, Implants and Clothing.
The first 3 is the usual and the 4th would hold our social clothing which is basically a duplicate of the armor Tab - Heck, if you want some QL 1 armor to be used as your social clothing, go ahead.

a new button in the Controls panel - It's a Toggle button just like the sit/stand one. When "on" you will use your Clothings Tab and when "off" you will use your Armor Tab.

This includes any bonuses on the items in either tab.

Thus if you have just regular Miir fashion clothes in your Clothing Tab, you'd go from that nice Elite Armor's armor class and down to 0 Armor.

No stat checks should be done when toggling the Tabs, but only when trying to insert a piece of Armor / Clothing. Apart from the OE check offcourse.
