    this is old stuff but it ruins tower pvp. if levels was reduced it might be intresting to make low levels and not only endgame?

    TL 5 pvp was almost just as big as TL 7 pvp to people found out to abuse the high level diffrences.

    level 170 was for years a standard pvp level in the end to people suddently found out they should make level 207-214 players in endgame gear to insta kill the 170's .. fixers / agent in mimic fixers was made so they could target the low level and meep away before a 220 could try help out, and 1 min later the fixer / agent was back to do it agein.

    I dont know how much he game director has done in pvp the last years.. but it would be nice to reduce thos levels by allot.
    why even have tl 5 tower fields in ao if its all ment to be pvp'd in by level 200+ players?

    +1 waay closer please. Maybe scale it so 220 can attack 190 at most .

    220s shouldn't even be able to attack 200s, it makes 200 twinks useless in pvp other than battlestation and the occasional duel. sensible pvp ranges would be more like 206-220, 180-205, 150-179, 130-150, and the lower level ranges adjusted as well, albeit less adjustment needed there.

    I think BS lvl ranges are fine the way they are. The current level ranges promotes BS running and player interaction, even if they are large ranges. The battlestation tiers work well, and they promote pvp and pvm on the same characters. 150 pvp with s10 twinks, 200 pvp with s7 twinks, they give players more than one thing to do with their twinks, which is always good.

    Yeah that's what I was thinking, if the regular pvp ranges were adjusted to how they work in BS, so not changing BS at all, but changing the regular pvp ranges to match those used in BS

    I think we can't completely change to the BS level ranges because having a level 101 get killed by a 150 is pretty OP. at higher levels(aka 201 can be killed by 214 and 215 killed by 220) this doesn't matter so much, its balanced, but smaller level ranges are necessary the lower level you are. 200s shouldn't be able to attack anything lower than like 174, and 220s shouldn't be able to attack 200s, 200s being killed by 205s, thats reasonable, though. and another problem with matching BS levels with pvp levels is if you are a 200, noone higher level than you can attack you.


    It seems right now, you can be killed by anything roughly 1.26 times higher than you in level. I think that should be changed to maybe 1.1, allowing 165s to attack 150s, for example. This would make 220s able to attack 200s, but no lower, for another example. Some tweaks here and there would have to be made of course, as in if you are 220, you shouldn't be able to attack 200s, only 210+ maybe.

    I strongly disagree with messing up with PvP ranges from lvl 1-200. Not only they are fine the way they are but messing up with them would suddenly make hunderds, if not thousands of twinks useless. We don't need to piss off any more players, population is already low as it is. Besides for that reason it's pretty difficult to find any ppl willing to participate in PvP at tl1-4. Making those ranges narrower would only make things more difficult.

    Tl 1-4 are fine...maybe just some little adjustments. Tl5-tl7 is the problem as mentioned before. 160ish twink getting killed by 200+ with High support as back up. Thats just wrong and takes the fun out.

    yeah I purposefully didn't touch lower levels because they need little adjustment, if any. I can't bring a 200 twink to any pvp because I get insta killed by 220s. Can't have a toon be at useful ranges(have to go 174 to not get killed by 220s). What is 174? thats some random level chosen to prevent getting killed by endgame characters. The lower levels could be changed with everything 150+ being changed to 1.1% as I mentioned before and everything would be infinitely better. Twinks wouldn't be rendered useless by this change, they would be buffed. People could bring out their 170 twinks without the fear of 200+ toons ruining the fun. People could bring 150s without getting insta killed by 170s.

    Like I've said about 4 times so far, in the last 8 years or whatever, just make two linear scales which function accordingly with their relative power gain.

    1-200 = 1/level
    201-220 =5/level

    PVP level range is your level * 0.795 with any inconsistency erring on the high side.

    1-200 are totally fine and the linearly scaling nature works everywhere except right around the Tl4 cusp where QL 200 jobe implants are available 1 level higher (i.e. 99/100) but most people try to work around that by not making evades dependent toons around that cusp.

    However, at 175+ the linearity of scaling falls to the wolves since 201-220 relative strength gain is exactly proportional to gaining another 100 levels, not 20.

    Here's how this would play out:

    level 201 = scaled level 205 ( in range of 205*0.795= 163)
    level 202 = scaled level 210 (in range of 210*0.795= 167)
    level 203 = scaled level 215 (in range of 215*0.795= 171)
    level 204 = scaled level 220 (in range of 220*0.795= 175)
    level 205 = scaled level 225 (in range of 225*0.795= 179)
    level 206 = scaled level 230 (in range of 230*0.795= 183)
    level 207 = scaled level 235 (in range of 235*0.795=187)
    level 208 = scaled level 240 (in range of 240*0.795=191)
    level 209 =>195
    level 210 =>199
    level 211 =>203
    from here to 220 Id' suggest just re-adjusting the range so any 212-220 is in range of 201-220

    Yes, technically speaking lvl220 is like lvl300, IP wise, and lvl400 perk wise (lvl220 has twice as many perk points available compared to lvl200). Not to mention some godmode perks (MR) and DB and AI nanos. Once you understand that it's pretty obvious that PvP range at these higher lvls is way too wide. Not sure why devs haven't thought of this in a first place.

    I fully agree with OP. I had this convo with a former game director, where the view that "think of all the time those 207s spent to make their twinks". But what about all those 170 twinks? There is aboslutely no fun being insta ganked by tl7s or even 200s with 220 doctor support. Good fights are gone, and we are forced to go even lower level on our twinks to avoid instant death. I have all but abandoned my 170 agent, instead opting for a 162 doctor and 164 soldier. Please Michi sort this out.

    Situation was 2 weeks ago. 7 or 8 people attack our field, level range 165-170. Me and my orgmate had toons 150 and 200 prepared to fight, from obvious reasons, we tried on those 200. Friend attacked somone and got farily fast killed without doing threat to opponents. I jumped little to slow, and was anihilated by 3x220.

    I agree with OP - 220 should not be abble to attack 200

    How about just making it so 201+ chars can only attack other 201+ chars? Otherwise you'll always be able to ladder down from tl7.

    I reckon the 5x level worth should be reflected.

    Lvl 200+ should use a basis of 96% -105% rather than the current 80% to 125%
