Thread: Where did your nick originate?

    Where did your nick originate?

    Just out of curiosity :P

Nave originated from wanting to have a short name that started with N, then I had Navel (bellybutton in swedish) and noticed while I was running around on a level 5 fixer that it would look so much better without the L.

    What's your story?

I wanted to name my Agent Pantomime, but the name was taken.

I was trying to think of a different, but appropriate name and the name Artofmime hit me, almost in a dream. I decided I liked it, and I liked how versatile it would be.

Also, nerf Artofwar. That dude stole my name.

The name SultryVoltron came to me while I was using the old Xbox Live random name generator. The names TandemJeans and HumpierCentaur came up, then I was like... hey how about SultryVoltron?

My first meaningful toon was an MA on RK2 named Gorathona, as in the feminine form of Gore-athon, a mass festival of gore. I was lucky enough to join The AGP and my nom de guerre quickly became "Gora," which then became the basis for all future AGP toons: Goratinkr the engi, Gorastrikr the Subway Workman Striker Clone twink, Gorastopr the doc, etc.

It didn't feel right to bring the Gora convention to RK1 so I intentionally named all of my toons differently. Unda the engi is meant to be punny because her name is Elizabeth "Unda" Weir. Unda Weir, get it?

    Best,
    Gora

I stole my froob agents name (Digitalphear) off some guys xbox live account, he made some machinima with halo that I watched a while ago and couldn't think of a name for AO when I first started so I chose that
Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

Hehehe - mein very first toon was named after my nick in CS *cough*. We had a commercial on TV long years ago. I don't remember exactly was it was for, but Arnold Schwarzenegger hold a big refrigerator above his head and said "Yeah, mix it, baby!". So first I was Mixitbaby, later just Mixit (the toon was rerolled quite a few times).
Then I need a name for my Adventurer. As my gf is called Kristin, I just mixed Kristin and Adventurer and came up with Kristurer. From there on, nearly all my toons had a "Kris" in their name - Krisdoc, Kriscrat, Nukingkris, Krismeta etc.
Only Lussam was created by that AO name suggestion thingie - it was the very first name to come up and I liked it from the beginning.

    KD (abbr of KrisDoc)

Kotty - used to be my nick at high school. This has been my first serious toon.
Farminator - orginally toon made for totw farming, and I'm also fan of Terminator series, hence the combination of two.
Drush - my favourite nickname; can be translated as The Rush, which seems to be fitting name for a fixer. It also means Dr. Rush, who is my favourite character from Stargate Universe.
Guzzler - this nickname is based on social-wear. Wearing sweat shirt (Mystical Force Tight Shirt), jean shorts and two cleavers has earned this toon even more appropriate nick - Wife-beater.

As for my forum nick, I am forbidden by forum rules to elaborate on its origins!

The 'rocker series and Steeltown are named after the Iron City Houserockers
Burntorun named after a Springsteen song obviously.
Now, one of the reasons we’ve spent the last month arguing about the debt ceiling is that half of the "teabag" Congress signed a vow to never raise taxes. Someone just handed them something and it wasn’t a gun, a crucifix or a fetus — so they signed it. Why? "Because we’re rugged individuals who love freedom. Now excuse us while we sign this document swearing to do as we’re told." --Bill Maher

None of my names really had any storied history, aside from Tachycardia, which was basically just lifted from a medical pamphlet I received one time after having to go to the hospital.

Stringbass reflected my love for music; Chokesermon is the name of a Lamb of God song.

Otherwise, they were names that I thought sounded cool.

    From The Jargon File:

larval stage /n./ Describes a period of monomaniacal concentration on coding apparently passed through by all fledgling hackers. Common symptoms include the perpetration of more than one 36-hour hacking run in a given week; neglect of all other activities including usual basics like food, sleep, and personal hygiene; and a chronic case of advanced bleary-eye.
A million years ago when I read that, I liked it. It wasn't too far from the truth. Then shiz happened, things didn't pan out. I decided I was still in a larval stage of sorts. I was just no longer sure what I was becoming.

As time leapt onward I became many very different things. It became apparent that the "larval" part of the name was incorrect. I wasn't becoming one thing, I was always something becoming something else. That's what I really am. A transitional entity. When I do good, the next stage is better than the previous. Sometimes it isn't. God I hope the next one is a good one.

Was sitting around with a friend at his house and we wanted to roll new alts. We had decided trox NTs, so I thought "hm, sort of big guy who wants to blow stuff up, but isn't too bright, so he doesn't spell well" and so it came to be. With no relation what so ever to any 80's movies.
