    [ALL] IRRK: ICC Convoy Attacked

    ICC Convoy Attacked
    February 06, 29483 - [Global]

IRRK - During the night of February 4th, 29483, a heavy armed ICC convoy was attacked, and decimated by Red Freedom forces in Andromeda. There were no survivors according to the first responders.

At 01.33 AM RST, ICC Convoy 00425-4352, counting 8 cargo transports & 5 escort crafts, was on a regular supply run from Andromeda to Clon**** when they came under attack from what appears to have been heavy artillery shells which took out the lead escort craft with the first wave. This was followed by heavy fire from automatic weapons from the right side of the road.

At 01:34 AM, the first alarm went off at the ICC HQ who quickly dispatched an armed battle group, to come to the aid of the convoy, but their arrival at 02:07 AM, all that remained were burning wreckage and the bodies of the 60 man escort with no signs of the cargo transports. The words; Down with the Omni-Tek lapdogs, had been painted on one of the destroyed escort crafts.

Sources inside the ICC have revealed that the investigators estimate that somewhere between 200 and 250 heavily armed commandos participated in the attack and the lack of any tracks leading out of the combat zone would suggest that the attackers have access to large sized dropships, a feat only Red Freedom is known to use.

What is most distressing, according to our informants, is that there were no signs of a dropship in the vicinity, pointed to the fact that the dropship might have been cloaked, something only possible by using military equipment. If these rumours are true, then this represents a whole new range of possibilities for Red Freedom. Using cloaked ships, could lead one to assume that they can now strike everywhere, at any time.

The ICC have refused to comment on these rumours, or if any actions will be taken on their part against Red Freedom.

More interestingly what was being transported, as i doubt a regular supply run needs to be heavily armed, as is suggested.

In light of the recent attacks on Old Athen, by our lovely friends in OTAF... should a counter attack come as such a complete surprise? I can absolutely see why troops were being run. Someone sent a transmission to ICC and made a claim for fortifying resources.

I find it awfully funny that AF needed outside help, only to loose it en route. Stupid to look weak and call in for extra help from outside sources, and stupid for not thinking it would be hit. Hitting us is one thing, hitting us in the middle of a group of consumers and non-combatants is ruthless and imperialist in the extreme. Revenge was brought. To me it almost looks like OTAF called them in to be sacrificial lambs, so they can hide under their bunkers without taking any personal responsibility.

And some of you wonder why we are so pissed off.

Jumping from "lack of tracks" to "it's Red Freedom"? I see lots of "maybes" between start and conclusion.

Is it possible to learn more on this stolen cargo? If 200 to 250 commandos were on it, it wasn't just an ice cream shipment.

It's interesting to see Red Freedom is going after neutral targets again. I guess it's a good thing this group wasn't put on display like the last group of neutral traders they hit and made the news. There was the "Down with Omni Lapdogs", so a little show was put on. Granted there are theories that ICC is really some kind of Omni front. Isn't there a consensus anyone not clan is Omni? I know not all share this view, still there are enough in agreement.

Something to keep in mind. When Omni goes to the ICC asking for permission to use excessive force when dealing with Red Freedom, I don't think they're going to be told no. So in the long run, was this really a good move on the part of Red Freedom, or did their message just make things worse.
I don't PvP becasue my rlpeen is big enough so I don't need to make up for it with my epeen.

I barely get my head out of the fruit container I travelled in and what do I see ? Alien tentacle loving in Borealis, the blue light crime squad, engie ladies in distress... I love this planet.

That said red freedom have a really good engineer backing them, and we must consider the hardly possible as possible.

I think you're getting the ICC mixed up with the neutral faction of Rubi-Ka. They are not one in the same. If they were, the ICC would have tried to stop the Borealis invasion.

It's a nice spin, but it's a little too transparent.

  10. #10
Ah yes the "invasion" how can I forget. However it would seem most people seem to forget that Omni, like it or not, did and does have a legal claim to the city of Borealis. Now I know saying this is going to draw a lot of fire my way. Now keep in mind I find Omni-Tek's decision to move back into Borealis after so much time both wrong and baffling. The truth is the city was built by Omni on a planet where they hold the lease. If they choose to move back into the city, I'm really not sure the ICC has any legal leg too stand on. This is a topic for another day. Last I knew the ICC wasn't in the war with Omni against the clans, therefor that would make them neutral. But everyone that isn't in the clans gets called an Omni lap dog at some point in time.

I fully understand what Portman and her group did here was totally business. They needed martial and the ICC had it so they took it. But as far as I know, and people can cry all the conspiracies they want, the ICC is still not Omni, or is the ICC now the sworn enemies of the clans as well? But I do know there were members of the clans working out deals with Red Freedom to get them supplies if they stopped attacking Neutrals for them.

I don't at all see the ICC being the same or apart of the Neutral faction on Rubi-ka. And maybe they did let Omni take over Borealis, maybe there was something they could have done legally that I don't know about. But I do know this, it's the ICC that's been holding back Omni from committing massive planet altering war crimes against the Clanners. So what I'm saying is this little shopping spree Portman and company pulled might just have made things a lot harder for a good number of people on the planet.

If there is any spin here, it's clanners justifying how it's right for clan members to do and take whatever they want from anyone that isn't clan.

((Clarification here: I know some people don't wish to RP what happened in Bor the way I do and choose to see it as ICC really just being under Omni control; however, there has really never been any information presented either way. So all arguments about what's going on in Borealis are players just trying to RP with what they've got. Unlike players trying to blame game mechs on Omni being evil. eg. The reason why the Omni guards don't attack aliens. but I've have been just as guilty too.))

So you agree that your spin wasn't as vague as you would have liked it to be? I'm fine with that. It's big of you to admit it.

Either way, after the Council of Truth's little meeting with that ICC stiff, all I can say is that next time, I hope they drag the corpses to Andromeda and stick them up on poles... but that's just me.

  12. #12
Again you misunderstand, I'm not trying to spin anything. Unless the clans are at war with the ICC, then Red Freedom attacked a neutral convoy. Neutral meaning a party not a part of the war, not to be confused with the Neutral faction/s.

Hey I understand full well, Red Freedom needed supplies and the ICC was a soft target for them. Still the question remains did RF do the right thing in attacking them.

Then again I forget the view of some of the clans, "If you're not with us you're against us". And I also forget that in the minds of some, the only life that matters is are those of the clanners.
So it's okay if Red Freedom robed the ICC and killed their people, they're not clan so they don't count.

The problem with any spin, is looping all clanners into the same circle.

    Its just not true.

The truth is, is that the word 'Clan' as it pertains to us... is not just one body, one soul, one mind. We are independants. Our factions are clan(S)! as in plural. The Council of Truth is a singlular political entity; one of many, within our ranks. The Council of Truth is the only one of these bodies that actually has a group focus, even if that most of what we do is just watch everyone do their own thing.

So, terrorists? Yes, we have them. Pacificists? Yes, we have those too. We have people in our clan ranks that are clan because someone told them to be clan. We have clan in our ranks who are here because they don't fit anywhere else, and we offered them the best chance at making a life of their own. We have altruists, punks, gangs, theologians, philosophers, and scientists of all colours, civilian bystanders non-withstanding.

You wanna bomb a terrorist? Hell, good luck. I'll even deliver a thank you note. But good people don't deserve to die, because of some other idiot. Soldiers die, that is the oath they swear. They could be good people, but they know in times of war that risk is always on the table. What Omni did was an act of our war. Someone weaker tried to bolster the bad guys, and got waxed for it. I feel pity for the families of the fallen, but these people knew how hot the situation was. Wanna blame those responsible? Talk to your ICC reps, and find out who made the call to move them in.

and I submit that after dealing ever so briefly with the ICC muckity muck, they're not neutral. They are interested in notum, that's all. If they have to go to war for it, I wouldn't put it past them.

If we agree on that, then Omni taking over Borealis was not an invasion, just replacement of one set of not neutral guards with another set of not neutral guards.

I have to reiterate... I don't know how you go from "convoy attacked with mysterious and theoretical large invisible dropships" to "Red Freedom"... it is quite a leap.

I don't know if Red Freedom is guilty or not, but such assumptions should not be made.

I also have to say that Red Freedom does not represent the Clans, certainly not under the Council of Truth. Bubbacrush said it well.

Funny, people used to say that about Silverstone and the Sentinels. How times change.

As for the comparison to Red Freedom, not sure where the dividing line is. The common element between Portman and Silverstone is that they both have major grievances against the company, due to the murdering of family members. When we want a relative peace, they want to push the envelope on war. Neither of them speak for the whole. No one clan ever will, unless somehow we are united under a far more common banner.

Simon has been a bit lax on the head to head, whereas Portman seems to be pulling ahead.. and well I might add. If there was a mano-y-mano between the two, I am thinking my money would be on Portman.

As cliche as it sounds, hell hath no fury... ya know?

Silverstone is no one's fool nothing would give him greater satisfaction than to do what Portman is doing right now. But he also understands the political situation and the costs of such a thing. He doesn't just have a force of people willing to die. He leads an army. He leads a nation in his own right. With that comes added responsibilities. His actions are tempered by the situation now. And i don't know about anyone else but i find that a comforting thing. A loose cannon is not what is needed. It never has been. Portman has the advantage and disadvantage of not having controlling interests in a major area in Rubi-ka. A person with more to lose would not act as stupidly as rashly and as idiotic as this woman has.

As for the bet on the fight? Silverstone has no problems killing a woman. I should know. It was his gun and my axe that ended Lightswift. If portman continues in these unthinkable moves and slaughters without justifying herself it will fall upon us to deal with her. It is almost spring time on earth. When spring comes it usually signals a time for most to clean up their own backyard. It sure as hell does for me.
