Enough with this ql 300 boss. Enough with making hunting zones like the ace camp 75%. Patch by patch AO is becoming a carebear game and the fact that you have to build 'towers' in the booster makes pvp only more a side dish for AO.
What do we want?
-More pvp zones. A clan version of 2ho perhaps. Indoor ones too, the 25% bunker in 2ho is rather interesting, it would be fun to be in a omni-tek building shootout, or perhaps a 25% bar IN a town with lots of theme to it. Hope bar is a joke. Meetmedere is empty these days because of the 75%/25% line hugging thats similar to the tir arena ganking. Going there is not worth a minute. 2ho is currently the only place worthwhile to pvp, as camelot is far too laggy and pvp is not even players' intentions for going there. Removing Tarasque from AO period would be a good substitute to this everquest-ish style of playing. There should be political 'war' zones as well as 0% zones that are purely designed for multiplayer fun, for example maybe a static mission area with several floors and diverse rooms, 0% suppression, no map, the entrance would teleport you to a random location. I think the amount of seriousness in 'war' pvp could evenly be channeled in places like these.
-NO ARK INTERVENTION WHATSOEVER! Everytime the ARKs have tried doing a PvP event, it was ridiculous. The things they do in these so-called 'events' only prove FC needs to learn more about game balance. Player vs Player please, none of this ARK/GM stuff UNLESS you are willing to even out both sides with the desired amount of forces.
-PvP vehicles usable and makeable by only certain professions. soldier and engineers need improvements. Soldiers could man the vehicles, engineers could make them. Soldiers have green vehicle ground skill why not make use of this rather than the fact people under level 70 only need to raise this to 100 to use their kodiak car. Add weapons that will be exceptionally effective against vehciles, such as anti-'tank' weapons, surface-to-air missles for spying yalmahas or possibly even fighter planes. All throughout history, no book-noted war was fought simply on foot. I read that this is year 29,000 whatever yet 27,000 years ago, in an RP perspective 'the present' we are using F-16s, submarines, tanks, stinger rocket launchers, utility grenade assault rifles, compact assault rifles, nuclear weapons etc.
-Zoning would no longer be an issue if the trap/breakentry skills were applied to PvP. Re-implement the 'Plastic Explosive' item you would recieve from disarming traps, and allow people to set these things on objects in PvP zones. Allow the ability for players with high break and entry skill to lock doors to zone in. There needs to be more reward for investing IP into these skills. Allow land-mines to be placed, as this and PvP vehicles with special weapons would *drastically* decrease the amount of group rushing and lag in PvP and enforce the use of squad/player tactics.
-New weapons, both profession/breed specific and generic. 14.5 is a good start, but there still needs to be more.
-Breed balancing. Currently atrox soldiers cannot self-cast all their buffs at level 200. I find it RIDICULOUS that an opifex's dark blue skills will cap at 464 and green skills will be over 500 while a atrox will have 512 str/stam but 400 intellegence and only 300 more HP than a solitus. More thinking needs to be put into this.
-Spend more time listening to what is left of the PvP community and less on the carebears and EQ refugees. QL 300 bosses will not stop level 200s from leaving AO. A great guild that consisted of many level 200s disbanded recently because of lack of things to do. PvM enhancements is NOT the solution to this as PvP is the only half-'fun' thing to do at high levels, and it is not even fully implemented yet. The structure and roots of AO's game mechanics has potential and should be put to use.
-Pay more attention to the profession mechanics, rock-paper-scissors type gameplay. I read that 'not all professions are supposed to be good at pvp.' on the community forum. If this is so, then that means the professions that are considered 'gimped' and 'half-assed' are meant to be, by funcom themselves. Do not make so many drastic changes. Experiment more like the players are. This is NOT beta. A profession that is not capable in both PvP as well as PvM is a wasted one. Think through more what should be able to beat, what shouldnt be able to beat, and what should have a even chance of beating in PvP.
-Instead of sending invincible arks to fight off the clanners or omnis, have suppression changes rampant in the AO world. Having this would open even the lower level players up to PvP. Currently a player's first character's experience in PvP is after level 140 or so, outside of the arena where only testing/dueling/ganking is done, nothing serious related to pvp. Forget about these silly events where people are making speeches, or protesting around a cone building.
Funcom keeps breaking promises. A common misconception these days is that MMORPGs the main goal is to 'get the best items and become uber.' This is such a stupid goal, and obviously was not the roots of this game, however it is growing into it. AO's unique feature is that it is a sci-fi MMORPG, perhaps they can accomplish the goal of not only being the first sci-fi MMORPG but a PvP oriented one as well.
