Mhm i did what u suggested there but seems like this anarchypatcher won't update, i also dl'd the .exe file for the patch but also gives thesame error:

"An unsupported operation was attempted.", then it gives some patching window & shutsdown

edit: Every time i try this the V17-5-2_EP1-V17-5-3_EP1.RTD (one of the files u had to dl seperatly to do it manually) dissapears :s

I'm getting this "an unsupported operation was attempted" error too, thought they changed something in the patcher that made it stop working on Cedega since I play on Linux but fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.. unless you two don't use Windows either

I use Linux as well but do not run it on Cedega

I run on Wine I know the two are similar but don't know if that is the source of the issue

    Large Client Download Problem Too

Checksum error, redownloading the files why cant it check whether or not its already downloaded?

Also installed the large client earlier last week and as it incrementally applies the patches it gets to rename.ini and then bombs out the install, every patch step :/ Sometimes launching another patcher so 2 are trying to run, then it locks some files and tries to run another installer which reports back cannot write to file.

A complete and utter mess, the entire install procedure. And then a lovely 50MB added to the last patch I couldnt install which was ALSO included in the incremental patches from the last full large client download, which is 50MB of rubbing salt in the wounds because I am in the UK.

If regions are given different content I very much believe you will need to start with regional downloads and the legality of including something for one region which isn't included in another is questionable. I pay the same amount as the Americans if not more and expect the same service.

Sort it out please it has recently become very unprofessional, whether due to staffing changes or some other reason I am not sure. Excessive lag, downtime, lack of stress testing of the servers, unneeded content, patching, large client downloads all causing considerable problems over the last 3 to 4 weeks. Disk thrash, memory leaks, zoning problems ...

Manual patch from here ftp://ftp.funcom.com/cd/patches/ worked ok for me.

OK. So I've tried to patch this thing about 12 different ways. Didn't know there were that many did ya?

Hmm. seems I've patched the game "Patching all done" "Local Version: 17.5.3 - but I still can't launch the game. Sad
My launcher keeps saying the server is Down.
anyone seen this, know a way to fix it?

    bleh

well I cheated, copied the game over to windows and patched it there, then copied it back and I'm playing happily again

I'm getting the unsupported operation error on Cedega as well. Downloading the patch files manually didn't help. By running in debug mode and with the help of some friends, I was able to find out the following:

The patcher generates the following exception when trying to start:

    Code:
    6953 - 0005:Call(5) kernel32.RaiseException(e06d7363,00000001,00000003,007310dc) ret=00441b7e fs=00000043
    6953 - 0005:trace:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException code=e06d7363 flags=1 addr=0x400ea154
    6953 - 0005:trace:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException info[0]=19930520
    6953 - 0005:trace:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException info[1]=007310f8
    6953 - 0005:trace:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException info[2]=004cd208
Microsoft knowledge database (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/185294) reveals that this exception occurs when C++ code throws. Unfortunately any information attached to the original exception is lost.

Looking a hundred or so lines up in the log reveals that the exception occurs inside the following sequence of calls:

    Code:
    6952 - 0005:Call(1) window proc 0x49ce7c (hwnd=00040021,msg=WM_INITDIALOG,wp=0002003d,lp=00000000)
    6952 - 0005:Call(2) user32.CallWindowProcA(00290346,00040021,00000110,0002003d,00000000) ret=0049b32c fs=00000043
    6952 - 0005:Call(3) window proc 0x4078187c (hwnd=00040021,msg=WM_INITDIALOG,wp=0002003d,lp=00000000)
    6952 - 0005:Call(4) window proc 0x4a04fd (hwnd=00040021,msg=WM_INITDIALOG,wp=0002003d,lp=00000000)
So it errors while initializing a dialog. Examining earlier calls with the same hwnd gets the following:

    Code:
    6947 - 0005:Call(5) x11drv.SetWindowText(00040021,0016fd78 L"AnarchyPatcher") ret=40781d26 fs=00000043
This would seem to be the first window with a title that the patcher creates. I don't recall it creating any other custom windows so this seems to point to the main window.

I hope this information helps FunCom devs to fix the problem.

For those interested, the debug channels used to obtain this information were +timestamp,+tid,+relay,+seh,+module.

could be something that Transgaming needs to fix rather than Funcom, though, so make sure to let them know about all that as well.. AO is supposed to be a supported game so I'd guess they'd take a look into it especially if it's not just a temporary problem but will stay that way with the future patches too

  19. #19
I am getting the same error. Still no reply from Funcom?

  20. #20
    no reply as of yet

mainly I think it may be due the a large majority of people having this issue are on a Linux box and thus not supported by FC

if I was able to load up windows then I'd have no issue with this but sorry to say Linux is my only option with my computer at this time (my computer will literary spit out Windows install CDs)

EDIT: added post on Wine Application DB to see if I can get some feedback from them.
