Is the /name function broken?

I'm trying to use /name nick and no matter WHAT name i choose, it's not working. I'm below level 20 so .... help!!!

This is what i get everytime as a response:

Sending name change request.
[Name-Request]: An error occured, please retype your request.

Been broken for months now...apparently they would sooner answer a million petitions that ask their programmers to waste 5 minutes. A petition will get it done. More FC streamlining

yes i petitioned to have my first and last names added on my doc, and have yet to have anything done.

those petitions are handled by ARKs, not Fc employees.

While this is true, some companies might be concerned at longer wait times for customers.

Currently, for a few people, the /name command is not working properly. In most cases, however, it is still functioning.

a FEW!? nonono, this doesn't work at ALL for any new toon... and by "new" i mean any toon i rolled after about june of LAST YEAR hasn't been able to use any of the /name nick/first/last functions.

I suggest everyone go right now and roll a new lvl 1 toon, and as soon as you hit say lvl 3? (just so you have an excuse not to reroll ) try to use /name nick <newnickhere> (without the < >) and i'm almost positive it will not work. The error you receive may vary, but MOST people, not just "some" people, are not able to use the name-request service successfully.

When I submitted my name change, i did not get an error, just it never updated the name. I however did not try to change the nickname, since I am good at picking names I like.

Pretty sure (bout 100% actually) the /name feature works for no new toons, why not just admit it, and fix it? Was the same thing when you couldn't enter mish entrances while in combat... FC said it was "some" entrances not working when it was every freaking entrance on RK .

i bet its a easy bot bugg, just like all raid bots got when the new chars started to get over XXXXXXX id

The situation is being looked into. We still process a large number of /name requests a week so I can confirm that it isn't a majority that are having this issue.

Whether it is any new toon or not, I am not sure but I can confirm this has been raised. We, however, are not the one's who fix it as it is a game command.

Actually i was suggesting testing the actual name-request bot, not the petition system. Using the */name nick newname* command is not the same as */petition 'help me rename my toon please'* and i was not advocating any mass spamming of the petition system. Also, i don't see any place in my post that suggests any use of the petition system at all... only the testing of the name-request bot itself.

On a related note, i'd like to thank those who have responded to my name change petitions, as they have been helpful and polite each time.

Sigh.. I tried petitioning to see if they could get my name change to finally work, but after playing for 5 hours I logged out. I got a email saying my petition was cancelled because i wasnt online....
