Thread: We need portable insurance terminals.

    We need portable insurance terminals.

I still dont see why after this long there still arent portable insurance terminals in the game. Im so sick of being under 100K from my level on any of my chars and dieing, losing 99% of my levels XP. Even when Im careful and stay in the back, etc, I still die. Happens to everyone and losing that much XP is really stupid. I believe they should just add portable insurance terminals, that link up to a regular save location, and allow us to save our characters while in the field.

Hmm... D'ya know that this sounds like a nice job for any Fixer in this world?...

We can already hack insurance terms until a certain point. Why not further?

This was something suggested back in beta. And I'm still against it. It would competely remove the challenge of staying alive as people would be punching their portable scanners every 5 minutes.

Hell, I can't remember the last time I died. Sure it sucks, but it keeps you on your toes, the constant possibility that if you don't heal promptly someone's gonna bite it.

I usually scan for only 1 reason: to save myself a longer run back to where I am. With my higher level characters I do scan a bit more regularly but more often than not it's nearer to the end of the gaming session than anything else.

Maybe we would only be able to use it once per level?

After 150 you never die unless it's a bug.

How's this? Team with an engineer and a trader, or maybe an NT.

Just before you get to the boss, have the trader or NT grid or warp everyone but the engineer to a good save location, then have the engineer pull everyone back into the mission to tear down the boss.

Its called the "XP loss reduction nano" for crats, only it vanished from the envisioned list along with the paperwork tradeskill and briefcase.. I don't think we will ever see it in the game.

Sean's idea would be the best choice

That's called Insurance Hack, dear. We do that all the time - well, me, at least. That's why you never see a Fixer die. We grid out before having the *time* to die *laughs*.

((Given the names all our HoTs have, I guess we can call this an insurance hack as well... LOL))

Portable insurance, shudder, make the game, WAY to easy...

Fixers I love em, we got team recklessed excellently the other day, they made the call and did it, only one team member complained (and everyone else supported the fixer)

    Thumbs down

Terrible idea, the death penalties are already low, used to play UO, now there was harsh death - can you get resurrected and back to your corpse before its looted?

Ya, or try to fight your way through the liches that killed you to get to your body, while the whole time they're looting your stuff, too.

The only thing I hate about getting "killed" in AO is the res shock... but that passes. Just glad it's not permanent.

When you can get into a good guild team that just melds together like a well-oiled machine, then you've got a good thing going. You won't die. If you do, just blame your fixer for not warping the team out in time.

I'm still for a game where you start over when you die. Mmmmmm ... DiabloII hardcore *drool*. Sure there would only be me and 2 other people playing it but boy would that make things interesting.

Portable insurance terms....no. Insurance pills that save a percentage of your XP depending on level and QL yes.

Would be nice to be able to pop a pill before you go up to visit a boss and not have to run all the way back to terminal. They should be pretty costly though, and should make you think about how much money your throwing away when you do it. On top of that the higher QL more XP% saving pills should be like 80% XP saved and cost like a arm and a leg for your level. Where as a 60% one should cost as much as say.... upgraded a couple of implants for your level range.

    Just some ideas.
