Q&A Thread for Fixerspy's New Guide

    Hi All...

While Fixerspy's Ultimate Noob Guides, 2nd Edition is under construction...
The Sole purpose of this related Q&A thread will be to provide the community somewhere to post comments, questions, concerns, feedback, info, request, etc...

Please refrain from posting in the New Guide and post here instead. I'll keep an eye on everything posted here... reply to questions from time to time... and make sure that stuff gets integrated into the new guide.

    Thanks!

    Yours in Gaming...

You should probably try and move some of the info spanning multiple posts into a single post so it stays as one single page.

Another money making item after a few levels is the Fused Circuit Board...sells for the same creds as the Take me to the Shop item. The Circuit board is on the Cargo Droids and Waste Collectors. This helps spread out the camping of the Reets.

Also on the beach is now The Perfectly Formed Seashell that also sells for a few creds...60 or 75 if you go Omni. I got this pretty consistently off the beach leets and reets.

Thanks for putting the guide together again. Looks to have a nice layout!

The intended design is for the Table of Contents to be the main window... and anything you click on it is supposed to open in a pop up that you close afterwards.

The other major change is that all the items links are pointing to the Auno database instead of AO mainframe.

The new Island guide is only about 30% complete at this time... as lots of contents still needs to be mapped over and updated with 16.2 info... and a lot of the links still need to be fixed to point to auno.

    Thanks guys.

Oh... wish me luck... am in negotiations with a new web hosters... if things go well... later this spring the 2nd Edition will be hosted as a frames webpage with graphics... much easier / nicer to use than surfing forums, lol

p.s. at the moment i am rolling 1 of each profession, chatting with Brandon, and condensing the 'skills' info into FAQS for developing / leveling toons...

Omni vendor buys the Ring of Luck - Offensive for $2250. I am currently wearing a couple of them, while I transfered to the mainland. I'm going to see if any value carries over, and find out what values they have in the shops, and what someone is willing to pay for them.

I'd say those rings have it's highest value among players out on the island. The rings are pretty common drop in missions, in a variety of ql's. And while 2-300 creds for an item turned in to a vendor on noob island is lots of creds to the noob, it's petty cash for players on mainland.

All I was responding to was Fixerspy's news flash about the value of this ring in particular. I had farmed about a dozen of these rings, and I left noob isle at level 10 with full equipment, and still over 30,000 credits on hand. I have a couple of rings in reserve, and in true trader fashion, I'm going to see if they have any value on RK (ie check map & trader shops). Nobody but the vendors will buy the rings on the island, and I'm trying to see if there is a market for them on the mainland. Boy I wish the Solar Powered Pistols were tradeable, I would have bought several to sell to engineers, trying to make their tinker pistols.

    BIGGGG NEWS FLASH-FLASH-FLASH

I was quoted a price of 3,060cr for the Ring of Luck - Offensive at the map shop in RBB. Couldn't get into the trader shop, as that required at least a level 25 to use.

As of last patch, drop rate has been nerfed for these rings, at least I was able to start with a fairly wealthy Trader, before thw nerf.

damn it fixerspy, your guide is that good that it will put everyone else off making a guide because they know it will never be as good as yours.

Please nerf your guide to give others a chance.

Well that is kind of a neat trick, I can't really see the use for an org president on noob island with millions in cash. Unless your just trying to farm stuff from the omni vendor, and thats just not worth the time.

    sorry for the late response.

hee. actually I and others do have guilds on the island. If your computer can handle it, just dual log 6x times and create your own guild. if you can't, just holler on ooc that you need help... you should be able to find people to help you... but you might have to bribe them, lol.

As the island is instanced, and ooc broadcasts to all instances of the island, just have people met you inside the teleport tower. although the teleport tower is also instanced, there usually are not that many people in there...

Rolling new toons and having to do the island all over again can be a boring and lonely experiance. so many of us prefer to have our new toons join an org as soon as possible.

What are the Benefits of having an org on the island?
    - interguild chat. as part of the baby org... the chat can be tied in with the main orgs chat. if your main guilds chat bot rebroadcast infonet messages or other stuff... you can quickly relog your main so you don't miss out on any of the action. the other benefits of having access to main org chat should be self explanitory...
    - cash transfers. whenever you or an org mate rolls a new toon, the 'president' of the baby org, which is permanently parked on the island, can take funds out of the orgs bank and give them to new toons to purchase gear on the island. to send $ to the island, send out a new recruit to the mainland to get the money from the main guild or your alt toon, and then do /org bank add $$$. the money is placed in the baby orgs bank account, and can be accessed by the baby orgs president to distribute it to others.
    - org bank and farmer... the president of the baby org, and maybe 1 or 2 other alt toons from the main org, are permanently parked on the island. they are usually lvl 15+, and have thier inventories stuffed full of the 1% xp rings and other rings and alien weapons and other gear and stuff from running quest on the island. whenever someone from the main guild rolls a new toon, it gets recruited into the baby guild and loaded up immediately with all the best stuff that can be gotten from the island. unless a player choses to stay on the island to max out Axp from aliens, there is no reason they can not leave immediately after rolling the toon and head to the mainland.

There are several other reasons that people have orgs on the island... but i won't go into those... except to say that there are a small handful of guilds that actively recruit new players to the game from day 1 on the island... and try to help them along as much as possible. most of these guilds are owned by those players that also participate in supporting AO and the AO fansites... and they try to enhance newcomers gaming experiance in an effort to promote the game and encourage players to subscribe to an account with the expansion packs.

Or you could form an org on the island, have someone invite one of your characters that are on the mainland, have your mainland character become your president, kick everyone except your lowbie and your mainland character (and make sure there aren't any surprises ) and ... well, you can now transfer to account to fund your main via getting money from the island small source of income, but decent idea for those rough spots where 6-10k is all you need.

Scout - Jaax'Sinuh: the mainstead of the alien mobs... ql 8-13...
    Loot Drops:
    Kyr'Ozch Sledgehammer
    Kyr'Ozch Sword
    Kyr'Ozch Energy Rapier
    and
Solid Clump of Kyr'Ozch Bio-Material Note: 100% of bio material that I looted is 'of Kyr'Ozch Viral Serum (Making high QL buildings).
You receive 66 credits from the corpse.

Specialist - Cha 'Heru: The ultimate 'Boss' mob on Noob Island... randomly spawns between ql 9 - 13. FAST respawn when killed... usually about 60 seconds. Note: after targeting him... pull him off to the side somewhere to prevent / reduce the number of adds...

    Loot:
    Kyr'Ozch Submachine Gun
    Kyr'Ozch Carbine
    Kyr'Ozch Rifle
    and
Solid Clump of Kyr'Ozch Bio-Material Note: 100% of bio material that I looted is 'of Kyr'Ozch Viral Serum (Making high QL buildings). So if you are wetting your pants dreaming of farming tradeskill bio material for weapons upgrades, armor, etc... keep dreaming...

Note: It is very disappointing that No Pistols or Machine Pistols have dropped off of the specialist. When it was learned that he was dropping ranged weapons many of us had hoped or presumed that pistols / machine pistols would be included in the mix. So... either he Does Not drop them... or the drop rate is Ultra Rare... If anyone has looted pistols / machine pistols on Noob Island... please share the details with us...

Hmm... forgot how many credits you get from the corpse...
Specialist respawn now to ql 10-13 (and drop bio-material/weapons ql 8(little rare)-16). Level 13 speciast give 79 credits, same credits of alien scout.
Alien scout respawn ql 8-13 and give loot 8-16 like specialist.

I believe it was "confusing new players" ie froobs.

I think it was mentioned somewhere that this caused a lot of petitions to be generated because they tried to equip them and couldnt.
