How does STR contribute to melee damage?

Anyone ever seen a formula for how STR adds to melee damage?

STR adds to damage because you are increasing your attack rating because the most (actually, all) weapon skills are based heavily on Strength.

There are a few weapon skills that have nothing to do with Strength.

Rifle for one.

Bah, I ment melee cause the title was about melee weapons, sorry for the confusion.
