    Meanwhile.......

The darkness was overwhelming. it was rare on Rubi-ka that there would be a area so dark, what with the continued city development, and ships flying overhead...but here, in the desert..it was almost like someone had caused a fearfull blindness on those who ventured this far out.

It wasn't like Lily to go this far out usually. She liked to stay close to Borealis, or her organizations city. When she wasn't out whacking things, she prefered the confort of her friends in Shattered dreams, by a late night campfire...or a dance in the HQ bar. She liked to watch the stars from the cafe...she always enjoyed the night..the way the sky was neverending....

Lilyflie did not like the sky here however. As much as the night was a confort, this place made her shiver. Lily didn't get scared often...in fact, many who know her would be hard pressed to find a time she was ever scared. But if they saw her now...they would see a frightened litle girl..alone in the dark.

And lily was by no means little. The reason she could whack things so well was her odd size for a Opifex. Most of her breed were martial artists, or agents due to the smaller frame and sense of stealth. Not lily. She was always different. Larger than most..clumsy....and yet strong. Very strong. It is rumored she once carried a wounded Atrox to safety when the two of them were in battle. That has never really been confirmed, but those who know lily, didn't question it. With her, it seemed anything was possible.

to top off the difference in Lily, she did not seem as smart as most of the other opifex breed. Fixers and agents specifically were popular for opifex, because they were able to access information in thier minds, that only others could have dreamed. This is one reason why Omni-Tek developed the opifex. Quick, smart and sly. this is also the reason most people don't trust opifex.

But in Lily's case, she seemed to stop developing her mind. To the natural eye, she would appear to be a young woman..perhaps 20 years....but when speaking to her, her manner was in the way of a 8 or 10 year old. She liked to whack. She liked to look at the stars. that was usually how far her train of thought would go.

tonight however, her mind was racing. "lily doesn't like this place" She said to herself out loud, and caught herself in a shiver. She was lost. Not too uncommon for Lily to get lost really, but usually she got lost close to a city, which meant she was never REALLY lost...just misplaced. tonight she was sure of it though. She was really lost.

She kept moving forward, wishing she had her Yalmaha with her...unfortunatly she had a slight accident with it a couple hours earlier, and thought maybe there was a nearby city she could get some help.

but there was no city. there was no help for Lily.

Moving forward was all she had. And she didn't even know where that was taking her. North was west, east was south. It was all very confusing. now and then she thought she heard something, and would try to look around her...but it was too dark to see.

She tried her com unit "lo? Rai Guy? Jaja? Boss lady? Anyone?" but all she got was static. Something was interfering with her com...or it was broken. She wasn't sure. She didn't know of these things.

a hour past.....two hours...Lily was tired...but the thought of stopping worried her. in her limited thoughts she felt moving would keep her safe. She wasn't even sure what she was trying to stay safe from....just knew whatever it was, it couldn't be good.

Just when it seemed there was no end to the darkness, there was the sound of something moving nearby. Lily gripped her bats tightly as she slowly stopped to listen. She was shaking. if you can imagine what it was like when you were 4 years old and couldn't find your parents....and you didn't know where to go, or if you were going to be ok...that was how lily felt right now.

The sound moved closer. Lily started to whimper slightly. closer it came...the sound of many small feet....it would stop now and again for a moment and then start...almost as though it was moving around her....examining her.

lily took a breath "1.....2........3." She started counting. She was trying to find her courage. "6...7..." The creature moved closer...she could here the feet louder now "11.....12......13..." Closer still....and then, almost running at her.

Instict took over. She spun herself around and with all her strength brought her bat downwards, striking the creature head on, knocking it back. She only caught a small glimpse of it in the dark, and when it fell back, it fell outside of her vision.. It was quiet again...

Lily waited.....perfectly still. She was about to let down her guard when she head the feet again, coming at her. She closed her eyes and listened. *Whack* again she struck the creature, and it fell back...this time however it came back at her right away. *whack, whack* she hit it a coupld more times, but it let out some kind of gas from its body, and she found herself choking on it...she took a coupld steps back, and shook her head. "come on Lily...focus!" she screamed at herself.

Again the feet came. She flipped the bats around in her hands, and brought them around to meet the creature on either side. This time, It would not come at her again. It exploded between the bats, getting all sorts of gooey stuff on Lily. "ew ew ew" she said as she backed away.

She sat on the ground and wiped the goo from her face. "slimey little.....grrr" She said to noone. She let out a little sigh and waited, making sure the thing would not come at her again.

She sat waiting...for what she wasn't sure...but the adrenaline started to vanish, and her fear began to set in again. she could still see nothing in the dark. She was still lost...and she had just been attacked.

She put her pack down and pulled out a bonfire kit. She had been trying to save them, as she didn't have many left, but now she didn't care. within moments she had a Lily fire(tm) going and the area seemed to brighten up slightly

Now she could investigate what had attacked her. She saw all the little feet marks in the sand around her, and could see the remains of the beast. "hrm...aliens" she muttered to herself and kicked the dead alien. "lily hates Aliens..."

Almost as if her comment had cued it up, the sky began to brighten...a green glow...getting bigger....and the humm of a craft....getting louder.

Lily looked up, and though at first she thought maybe she was saved...she soon found her fear again. It was a Alien craft. and it was heading towards her.

She looked at the body of the alien spider "oh crap..." then looked at the bonfire "agh...crap crap..." and then back up at the sky "crap!!"

The ship was almost overhead. Again she tried her comlink "Ms Falikos? Rai guy!??" to which she again met static. She looked left...she looked right....there was nowhere to run

"this does not bode well for lily...." she said.

The bonfire kit expired.....the green light filled the sky...and lily heard the sound of many little feet on the sand again.

    "....crap..."

Lily kneeled on the ground, and put down her bats. She put her hands into the sand as though she were washing them with water. The sounds of the aliens grew closer, and the sky was alight from the vessel that brought them.

there were two times in her life, that she could remember, when she took a pause like this before a battle. The first, was a almost a year ago...just before she met her friends from Shattered dreams.

She had been hiding out in the forests near Newland city. how she got there, and even why she was there, not even she knew. As it stands, it is her first memory....obviously not the first memory she ever had, but the first she could remember on her own. Much of Lily's past is a ongoing question mark, with no answer.

She had been hurt. Someone, or something had been beating on her body. She lay under the trees, bleeding...lifeless.... her eyes could hardly focus, but what she did see was a pair of boots...black boots...and she heard a voice.

"now....what do you have to say for yourself dear?" it said. "All this time...all your victories..and now look at you. What a mess"

Lily was confused. She wasn't sure if the person in the boots was talking to her or just talking. She licked her lips and tasted blood. As far as she knew this was the first time she had tasted such a thing, but yet, it seemed familiar somehow.

most people would probably have a lot on thier mind in this situation. Lily on the other hand was thinking only two things. "my name? my name......who am I.....my name..." and "boots....". It wasn't as though she was about to have a third thought, but even if she had, it would have been lost in the pain she felt from her gut, as the boot came quickly, striking her. It caused her to roll over on her back.

"no reclaim for you bi***" she heard the voice say as she sqinted in pain. "I made sure of that....not this time"

lily opened her eyes slightly and saw the form of a person...it was blurry, and hard to make out...but she was pretty sure it was a woman. That also made some sense with the voice tone. higher pitched.

"Why....?" Lily managed to whisper from her lips. It was now the only thing on her mind...why? Why was this person hurting her? Why was she laying on the ground tasting blood. Why? couldn't she remember her name.

"oh now my dear....I think that blow to the head did more damage than expected" the voice cackled at Lily. Lily didn't understand. "don't make this easy on me now....I was promised a fight, and you are going to give it to me" The voice grew louder as it said the words and again lily felt pain in her belly.

lily closed her eyes. in her mind she saw a light. And she thought she heard something from within that light. It was almost as though she heard a second voice. She didn't understand that the voice was in her head...as far as she knew, someone had come to save her from the mean person who was kicking her.

now, history has shown that the mind is a complicated thing. full of processes that even now, in this advanced world, science could not explain. the reason people act the way they do. Why we say the things we say....

lily started to understand what she heard. It was strength. It was courage. It was lily. "wha...what should lily do" She shispered softly.

"what was that?" The evil voice shouted from behind her. lily thought she was talking to someone else who was there. She didn't understand why the evil person could not hear...but she didn't care. She listened very close to this voice in her head.

"bah...What a let down you have been. hardly the chalenge they said you would be. overgrown opifex basher...", said the mean person

lily heard the last word again. "Basher.."...and again she heard it in her head.."basher...".

She started to feel her hands again. She was running them through the sandy soil, as though she was washing them. She didn't see that the person who had been beating her had turned and leaned into a backpack to pull out the dagger which was meant to claim lily's life. She didn't see that her own legs and body had started to move, placing her upright. She didn't even see the bats as her hands moved on top of them.

"What the..." Was the last thing she heard the voice say, and then lily heard the crack of bat hitting bone. lily had saw nothing untill she heard a body land on the ground. She opened her eyes, and the blurry person who had been tormenting her, was now lying on the ground....motionless...something flowing from where the persons voice once came from

"you made lily mad.." she said to the lifless body on the ground.

gaining what was left of her strength, she began to walk. She had no destination, didn't even know what direction she was heading to. She just decided to walk. lily ended up outside newland city. At the city gates she fell to the ground. exausted she passed out.

lily had never seen the woman who was attacking her. She never saw the hit that knocked the womand to the ground. She also never saw the knife that planted itself in the womans chest as she fell. The knife which was meant to take a life and a soul. The knife that was meant for Lily.

That she ran her hands through the sand was significant to lily. She didn't really know why, but it was like somehow, in the earth, there was strength for her to draw from. She knew she was strong...but when there was no hope, she felt somehow the earth of this planet could make her find strength when there was none.

This was the first time she experienced it...it wasn't planned...wasn't even thought about...it was just done.

the second time was much different.....

    (to be continued still)

When the Portal to Shadowlands opened just over a year ago, There was excitement and wonder to what would lie beyond the portal gates. Jobe had always been a mystery until then, only open to its scientists, and one would assume, its investors.

Citizens of the planet stocked up on supplies and ventured into the wonderment of the shadowlands...some went for day visits..to explore and help scientists with the area testing...others found great fields of beasts to hunt...great challenging game, the likes of which had never been seen....others, were never seen again after entering the portal.

Lily started to visit the shadowlands because she was bored. Most of her friends had been exploring it for several months, but Lily wasn't really able to comprehend how significant it was...this portal and where it lead. At one point she thought maybe Shadowlands was a new bar...and judging from the number of people going in and out of that portal...it was probably crowded.

    Lily didn't like crowded bars

So while the majority of Rubi-ka was running around in the shadowlands, Lily was doing what she had always done since her friends from Shattered Dreams took her in...she whacked stuff

She took missions from the terminals, and whacked her way through them. She met several odd folks who hired her to run errands whacking certain creatures...she never asked why...she just always felt most comfortable when she was whacking stuff....she would whack stuff for fun too...head out in the woods and whack her prey...her friends would say she was hunting...but to lily she was just whacking.

and oh my, did she love to whack stuff. It never occoured to her why she did it, or why she liked it so much. In her limited mind, all she could think was that made everything feel better.

Unfortunatly, as much as she liked to whack stuff, Rubi-ka was starting to become smaller for her. She had traveled almost every terraformed area, confronted some of its greatest challenges (so she thought) and with most of her friends "at that shadowlands club", lily decided it was time to explore somwhere new.

Traveling to jobe had been made very easy with the new whompa system installed in Borealis, so Lily wandered through, and went to the harbour. While she was there, someone took advantage of lily's simple mindedness and before she even knew what was happening, she had purchased a luxury apartment in Jobe. she spent 3 days wandering in and out of her apartment, and felt no more special than she had before...regardless of what the guy who sold it to her said she would feel.

"I'm telling you..what a person like you needs..." the man has said, "is one of these beautiful, luxurious apartments here in the beautful city of Jobe!"

"Lily needs to live in Jobe?" she had responded

"Well, we all wish we could live in Jobe" he continued, "and in your case...you can! Trust me...after just a couple days in this place, you'll not only feel better about yourself, and about your life..but you will feel glamorous...like a star...like the world is yours to do what you please!!"

    "oh....alright then" lily said

After the few days she was there...she felt none of those things...and was still bored.

Lily went for a walk through the city, and came across the portal into the shadowlands. She stared at it, still not sure what to make of it. There was a guy in a white suit taking credit for entry..and people kept coming, and willing to pay to get in. Lily was sure this was a club.

She had three things on her mind when she made the decision she made. 1) lily really has no use for that luxury apartment. 2) Wonder where lily can find that guy who sold it to her and whack him, and 3) Guess Lily will see what the fuss is about.

With that she paid the doorman the covercharge and walked through the portal....into what was definatly...NOT a club

(and more to come still!! can't write much tonight unfortunatly...too tired and need to work in the mornin. Hope you are enjoying )

"wow!!!" lily said out loud as she came through the other side of the portal. It was the only word she could muster from her lips as she looked upon the Shadowlands sky. It was her first instict, having never seen anything like it before. To ask lily to describe it in her own words would not do it justice. It would sound a lot like "It was full of these nifty colors and clouds, and they all seemed to be spining to this drain in the sky...kind of like a slow moving toilet bowl..but nicer.."

"Lily?" She heard from her right. She turned and saw a face she did not recall before.

"Hello?" She replied to the stranger

    "Is it really you?"

lily looked down at herself to make sure. "yeah...it's lily"

The stranger speaking to her seemed confused by lily's actions. "Are you ok Lil? you don't seem to be yourself...."

    "You know Lily?" Lily asked

    "you don't remember me? lil....its me....Sara..."

Lily looked at Sara and shrugged. "Ok." She responded

"you really don't remember...oh my Lil...what happened to you?" Sara asked.

lily again looked at herself. This time she was looking for a wound, or a bruise or something of the like. She figured something might of happened through the portal trip, and this sara person could see it.

    "Lily seems ok" She said.

"why are you talking like that?" Sara asked

    "like what?"

"refering to yourself all the time..by name I mean"

    "its Lily's name..."

    "ok...."

Sara had a concerned look on her face...lily on the other hand, had lost interest in the conversation and started looking at the sky. her mind was taken by its sights again.

"Well....take care Lil...Be carefull out there. I heard the nemesis was still trying to find you" Sara said speaking in a lower tone than before. She seemed unsure what was wrong with Lil, but her new tone showed concern for her. It was like she felt this warning was very important. lily didn't know what she was talking about.

    "who?' lily asked

"You're kind of freaking me out here Lil...you really don't know who I am talking about?

Lily thought about it for a moment. "Nope. Sorry"

Sara shook her head "My dear Lilyflie..."

Lily blinked. She heard her full name for the first time since she could remember....thing was...she now remembered it. She blinked again and looked at Sara.

"...what did you call lily?" Lily's tone was darker...she almost sounded upset. as she heard the tone from her own lips, she felt her eyes squinting and a fire burning in her mind

Sara took two steps back "..nothing Lil....I didn't call you anything' She looked very scared. It was as though she had seen the devil herself. and to those around, the would have to agree with Sara that Lily very well could have been the devil at that moment. those who were around backed away as well.

"You don't ever call lily that again. That is not Lily's name anymore" She was almost spitting the words out like fire. Sara's held up her hands "Alright lil...sorry. It will never happen again. I'm really sorry" Sara's voice was shaking.

Lily lowered her bats and let her eyes open wider. "ok" she said calmly and turned her head upwards to the sky again. Sara took this as her cue "ok Lil...take care" and she walked (more like a run, but not quite...lets call it a jog) through the portal, back to the city of Jobe.

lily didn't notice. In fact, lily had pretty much forgotten the whole episode. She was no longer angry...no longer bothered. She was perfectly content looking into the Shadowlands sky. She would stare into the center of the toilet bowl swirl...like a sun shining through it, Lily felt drawn to the light. she hooked her Bats on her back, and began to walk into this strange new world....

(to be even more so continued and stuff)

Omni-1 Entertainment was once a very busy part of Rubi-ka. The parties at Baboons were legendary, and Rhompas bar had experienced much patronage from the more relaxed omni crowd. Even Clanners had risked the omni guards to attend some of the events in the city. On one side Omni HQ, where the execs would come from after working hard and long to wind down. Even Omni-Pol headquarters was here, although if you ask most people, they couldn't remember ever seeing it. (which was odd because it was right near he bridge to HQ)

These days however, Entertainment was a ghost town. the sewers to the north were backed up, the south, what was left of it after the Stret river flood, was sinking. the shops were empty, and the bronto burger, where once many had gathered for a quick bite or a nano exibition...now hardly turned a profit.

Yes, it certainly seemed as though the glory days of this metropolis were behind it. Omni citizens prefered the adventure of the shadowlands, or protecting thier notum towers...others prefered the comfort of a neutral city like Borealis, or outside of Newland.

Now, its not like Entertainment was completly empty. The workers of the bars were still there, paid by the company, in case someone drops in, the omni-pol guards still there to guard the whompas, or grid terminals....

from a building south of the arena, close to where the flooding was, a single light could be seen from the 10th floor every night. No one paid it much mind. perhaps the odd yalm that flew by, or the cargo ships that still made the trip to the city, even though hardly anyone was shopping there. But to the average paserby, the light from the 10th floor window would be passed by.

Within the confines of this office, sat a desk, a table top com link, a computer, a chair and a fairly attractive, but aged opifex female in the chair. She tapped her fingers on her desk, as though she was impatient for something.

And that was exactly it. She had been waiting for her scouts to return for 51 days. now, lets be clear here, she wasn't just sitting in that chair, behind that desk waiting...sometimes she would watch the grid feed for the latest on the clan/omni conflict, or she would play a round of 'Full-life' or 'Totally Real Tournament'*

Now and then she would wander to Rhompas and flirt with the drunken bar staff to get some free drinks. sometimes she just went to her apartment and read a good book. She was currently working on 'Lord of the Dings!' a epic adventure of a man trying to reach the source to destroy the beast that threatened the good in the world (it was a new book, written by A.R.K. Funcom, a language major and game designer, based on his experience in the shadowlands...he was never heard from again after the book was published)

but tonight she waited in her office, tapping her fingers on the desk.

It had been a simple request she gave her scouts. All she needed was the location of one person. 51 days ago she sent them thinking it would be a week at the most to get results. after about 30 days, she became concerned, but composed herself...after all these guys were professionals....at 46 days she started to panic...what if they were dead? Maybe something dreadfull has happened...which of course didn't upset her too much, because then she wouldn't have to pay them...but the hassle of it all....

She was about ready to find a couple new scouts to try, when she got a message on her com link saying they would be reporting in that night. So there she was, lights on in the office again, waiting. passing the point of worry and fustration, she was just right angry now...but anxious to hear thier report.

    tap-tap-tap-tap

    She continued waiting.

    tap=tap-tap=tap

Finally, she heard the sound of the lift start to rise. Her tapping stopped, and she sat up in her chair, waiting for the doors to open. unfortunatly the lift went a little past where it was supposed to and stopped between the next floor and hers. She could hear voices.

"Now what did you do?" said the first one

"me? I didn't do anything. i just pressed the button"

    "which button?"

"This one...the one for the 10th floor"

"well does this look like the 10th floor?"

"a little bit yeah...but with hints of the 11th floor"

"you are a moron...press it again"

she listened and shook her head. in a strange way she felt she now understood why it took 51 days to hear from them again. They were idiots.

    "I did press it"

"..let me see that....hrm...so now what do you suppose we do?"

"well....we could press a different floor"

"if 10 isn't working then what makes you think the others will work?"

    "i dunno...worth a try isn't it?

"whatever...just get us out of this mess will you?"

She stood up from her desk, and walked towards the elevator. She pressed the down button on the outside of the door, and the lift jiggled its way to her level. the doors opened, and the two Solitus men looked at her and smiled.

"heya boss" they said in unison

    "51 days...." she began

"yeah...we know...but listen we got news"

    "This better be good"

She turned around and walked back to the desk and sat. The two men walked to the front end and stopped.

"so yeah, we found that chick you wanted us to" the first guy said

"yeah.." said the second one, "and it wasn't easy"

She pondered the two gentlemen for a moment with only one thought in her head. "idiots"

    "so where is she?"

The two men looked at each other and frowned. "well, see that is hard to answer.."

her patience was at a all time low. "What the hell do you mean. you just said you found her" she snapped at them.

"hang on boss...let me explain" the first one continued. "see we figured it would be a easy job..the desciption you gave us was pretty unique. can't say I have ever seen a big opifex basher before...but I swear she was nowhere to be found"

She scratched the top of her head "but you said that you found her...so get to it...where did you find her?"

The second guy responded "Borealis. She was hanging around some people at a camp fire. there seemed to be some atrox in a thong there bothering them...and a atrox shade...in tatoos all over his body.."

"its body...Atrox are neither he or she" she corrected

"right.." he continued, "quite the scary sight....anyway, we saw her, and took some pictures"

he opened his backpack and pulled out a envelope. he placed in on the desk. She glanced at it and them pulled it forward, opening the top very carefully and removing its contents. She smiled.

"yes yes....that is her!!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah" the second guy said, "That's what we figured."

She put the pictures down on the desk. "So you found her. well done. nice work. All I need to do is send a team to eliminate her...so where is she now?" she asked.

"well see that is the problem...we don't know." the first man replied

"what do you mean? You found her...these pictures show her clear as day.." she exclaimed

"yeah I know...but see, thing is, we wanted to find out where she was staying so we could give you a good location.....and well, we lost her"

At that moment, if it were at all possible, her head would have exploded.

    "WHAT!!!!????" She screamed

the two men took a step back

"it was a SIMPLE job" she continued. "find her, report to me, I eliminate her, you get paid...SIMPLE!!! and now after 51 days you say you LOST HER!!!?????"

The first guy cleared his throat and spoke "She went to jobe...went through the portal to shadowlands. We couldn't get through. Aparently we didn't have the shadowlands entry key..so we lost her"

"you mean you didn't upgrade when they opened the portal!!???" she was at a loss of sanity at this point. How the hell could someone live on this planet and not upgrade thier access when new lands are found? Esspecially trackers?

"you USELESS..lumps of meat!!" she exclaimed.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but we just didn't really see the point of getting the upgrade..."

"didn't see the point?!!?!! You are trackers!! You track someone, you need to get EVERYWHERE!!!!" she screamed

"ma'am..." One of them started to reply

    "get out!" she said sternly

the second man started to open his mouth.

"i said GET OUT!!!!" she screamed.

The two men turned around and walked quickly to the lift. Once inside, the doors closed and a button was pressed. At that moment,of all things, the cable on the lift snapped and the two trackers plunged to the depths of the building, pancake style.

She didn't notice, or didn't care. NO one could be sure. She just sat in her chair looking at the pictures on the desk.

"you can't hide in the shadowlands forever Lilyflie...." she whispered to herself.

Meanwhile, in the shadowlands, Lily met her first heckler.....

Lily stood hunched over slightly catching her breath. Bits and pieces of what looked like rock and stone lay surrounding her. The sky was still bright from the toilet swirling light above her and with her bat still in hand, she wiped her pale brow of sweat.

She had been in the Shadowlands for 3 days now, which to her seemed like an eternity now. At first she though the place was pretty, very large and full of whacking potential....that feeling lasted through the first day...after that she found it too quiet, too big, and had one too many walking rocks.

The Rocks at first blew her mind. "holy crap!! That rock is walking!!" she first thought, and actually if you had been standing next to her, you would have probably heard her say it out loud too...which in turn seemed to get the walking rocks attention. This mound of moving stone moved quickly towards lily, which is when she first noticed its big rocky arms, which happened to be swinging manically at its sides.

"errr.....' lily said as she watched it grow larger with each step it took. It had actually been quite the distance from her, which also means she didn't just say "holy crap!! That rock is walking" she probably shouted it...which isn't quite odd for lil when she sees something for the first time.

"errr...." again Lily said as it got closer and closer. It really didn't take this long to reach her you see...but because Lily's mind works a little different than most people, her thought process would go from point a to point b very quickly to come up with a appropriate response...so because this process is so fast, things around her move a little slower....at the same time, her throught process, although having the correct information long before the walking rock arrived, would have to catch up with real time, and thus she would appear to actually be a tad slow....

This, of course, is not the best kind of mindset when a giant walking rock is coming at you with its arms swinging at its sides.

It arrived in front of Lily and raised its arms high above her. She watched them and was briefly blinded by the toilet bowl in the sky. The arms came down quick however, and although lily stepped back to avoid them, they smashed into her and knocked her back.

The pain was quite similar to if someone had hit her with a big rock..which makes sense of course, because this was a giant walking rock and it just smacked her in the face. Now her mind was all caught up with time and itself, and she rolled to the left in time to hear the giant arms smack the ground.

Lily picked herself up and swung her bats at it. bits of rock flew off in all directions as she made contact, but it kept coming back at her. All she could do was dodge the blows as they came, and keep swinging her bats the best she could

    WHACk DODGE WHACK DODGE

This went on for quite some time, bits of rock all around her as she hit the bats into the rock over and over. The bats started to splinter, which put lily off greatly (she was attached to her bats..not in the sense that they were really a part of her body, but if she had her way they would be)so she started hitting harder.

    WHACK!!!

She gave it one good whack in the belly (or what she assumed was the belly, because it was kind of in the middle and stuck out further that the rest of it) and the Rock toppled backwards slightly. It caught its footing, but it was too late. Lily had already activated some of her nano bots to surround her and her bats and swung a deadly blow to its head (or what must have been the head, because it was the smaller rock on top of the really big rock). The head flew into the air, and its body landed in a pile of rubble on the ground (not actually in rubble, more like became rubble...crikey there is a lot of explaining here)

Lily stood smiling at her acomplishment. "That was good whacking!" she said proudly, and looked for a good place to sit to repair her bats. She wanted to get out of the light for a while, and saw some shade among some boulders. She walked over and leaned on one of them as she shook some stones from her boots.

In hindsight, after the experience she just had, she shouldn't have been suprised when the boulder began to move....and in fact she should have probably guessed, when they seemed to be in completely different locations than before she started her last fight...but she was still shocked, and took a few steps back...

    WHACK DODGE WHACK DODGE

This was how her experience in the Shadowlands continued, And lily was bored. She had gotten sick of whacking the Walking rocks, and decided it was time to go home.

It took another 3 days to get back to the portal to Jobe, whacking rocks as she went...getting more and more bored. She passed a few excited travelers along the way, which for some reason were excited about hunting these big rocks "lily doesn't want to ever see another walking rock" she said to them, but they continued in that direction anyway....

As she walked up the platform, she heard some screaming from behind her. She turned to see where this girly pathetic cry for help was coming from, and saw a guy running with his arms flailing in the air. he was booking it as fast as his puny legs could take him.

Behind him, was a large group of cranky creatues this guy had apparently put off, and of course among them, a couple giant running rocks. He was leading them right to the portal...and they knocked down everything in their path...a few platform guards tried to help hold them back, but they became squishy very fast and could no longer be seen among the horde of creatures.

This guy was running quickly towards lily, closer and closer, and her mind once again went to work. Again it knew exactly what to do, but when time caught up with it, she didn't have time to run to the portal as her mind originally planned.

Instead she hopped over the side of the walkway, and feel hard to the ground below. Above she could hear the creatures run up the ramp, and was able to make out the sounds of screams turning to crunching.

She looked up from the mix of mud and water she landed in, and much to her dismay...she saw at least 5 giant walking rocks...who all had been woken up by this lump of lily that landed on the ground, and didn't look happy about it (not that they showed much emotion, but to this day lily swears that one of them snarled at her).

Thus we come (finally my goodness we made it) to the second time lily worked her hands though the dirt on the ground to gather strength.....

    To be continued...

(ooc: had a slight case of writers block over the holidays. sorry for the delay on lily's story. more to come!!!!)

Lily’s pale hands got darker as she rubbed the dirt within them, slowly the giant walking rocks moved around her. Her eyes closed she listened to her surroundings, each muddy step of the beats echoing in her head. Bringing her hands to her twin bats she pulled them from the straps on her back, and crossing her arms she held them, waiting. Each of the walking rock creatures took one more step closer. Then Lily began.

She swung her arms outwards, striking two of them, the momentum of her swing causing them to go off balance for a moment. She used this opportunity to jump between the large boulderish legs, letting her get out of the circle of death they created, and giving her room to move.

As Lily leaped through the legs, 2 of the large walking rocks had swung towards her, but with her sudden movement, the weight of their swing could not be stopped from impacting with each other, and they exploded into rock fragments of stone and rock.. Lily’s odds had just gotten a bit better.

Pulling herself up from the mud Lily took a defensive stance, with one bat raised above her head, the other pointed slightly towards the ground. She watched as the remaining Hecklers moved out from the circle they had been in, and formed almost a wall coming at her. As fast as she could she swung one of her bats back over her shoulder, activated a nanobot program in her NCU, and pulled the bat back down in time to knock the first of the three walking rocks backwards. Unfortunately with the swing, she was not braced for the impact as she should have been, and found herself knocked back as well.

The nano program kicked in. With the bots flowing around her, she found more strength in her. She picked herself up out of the mud and swung again at the wall of rock moving towards her. Almost as though she was in a spin she twisted herself around swinging again and again, each time knocking bits and pieces of Stone from them.

As Lily was fighting the hecklers, above her was still the bridge back to Jobe, and several people had been cleaning up the mess that was left from the stampede of beasts which caused Lily to end up in the position she was in now. They couldn’t hear Lily whacking away below with the sound of the clean up and the basic sound of the portal behind them, fluctuating between Rubi-ka and the Shadowlands.

So when an attractive, but Aged Opifex woman stepped through the portal with 7 personal bodyguards, who was specifically looking for Lilyflie, the sounds of the fighting below could not be heard. So she ventured out into the wilds of the Shadowlands, with her entourage, to search for Lilyflie, who could have actually been found fighting Hecklers in the mud below the portal bridge.

The woman had spent millions of credits on this journey, to find Lilyflie, could have very easily seen her if she had just decided to peek over the bridge, and instead went on a quest through the Shadowlands which in the end actually lasted 37 days, with no luck finding Lily, or any trace of her.

What she did find however was a robot like dude named Ergo, who seemed to know her for some reason and it was so intriguing, she let it lead her on several quests, only to wind up with all of her bodyguards standing next to her, back on Rubi-ka at a reclaim terminal. After which instead of continuing her journey to find Lilyflie right away, instead decided to go home, have a shower, and watch some old re-runs of "my dad the mutant" on Omni TV.

Now as we flash back to Lily fighting the hecklers, we are blessed with the fact that at least 37 days will have passed in the story before the Mystery woman appears again….A fact that at this moment, didn’t really concern Lily at all, as she was busy whacking giant walking rocks.

Lily continued to spin around whacking on each turn. One of the rock beats fell to pieces around her as the two remaining ones moved to either side of her. She had to make a choice at this point…right, or left. She chose left and lunged at the heckler to her left, bringing both bats around to connect with what would have been its right leg. The leg fell to pieces causing it to ponder the concept of gravity for a moment before falling and splitting into several pieces.

Lily landed hard on the ground next to it as it crumbled, and took a couple rocks in the face. She tasted blood on her lips and felt weakened. The nanobots around her had stopped functioning and her body was trying to adjust to normality. She looked up and saw two giant rock arms about to slam into her.

Lily knew she should move, but found herself unable to. A sharp pain in her leg prevented it, and caused her to cry out as the rock arms came at her. There was a moment of silence in her mind as she was convinced this was the end….but the end didn’t come. Instead the sound of a SMG was heard and thousands of little rock bits fell on her like Rain. She tried to open her eyes, but each time she did all she could see was the splatter of stone and gravel falling around her, as the heckler fell to pieces.

Lily closed her eyes and waited until there was no more dust and stone falling on her face. She waited until the gun sounds had stopped. She waited until she head some muddy steps moving towards her. Then she opened her eyes.

Standing above her was a man holding a SMG, looking down on her through his Helmet. He was covered from head to tow in this purple amour, and quite frankly looked a bit silly. "Hey….are you alright?" he asked through the helmet

"um….lily’s leg is hurt….." she responded. He took off his Helmet, and lily saw his face for the first time. He was a Solitus with a Mullet…which normally would have made Lily chuckle, but at this moment she thought it was the coolest thing she had ever seen….being that he saved her life and all.

"Lets see if I can’t help that" he said with a smile, and began running a nano program in the place he stood. The bots shot outwards and began to surround lily, slowly repairing her wounds and letting the cells of her body come back to life. She pulled herself up and swung her bats onto her back and looked at the mullet man.

"Thanks. Lily feels better now….see ya" she said and then turned to walk away. "hey, wait a second…" he said surprised at her actions. Lily stopped and looked back at him. "Sorry…" she said, "Lily has no time for boys" and then began walking back towards the ramp.

The man just chuckled and put his helmet back on. "Alright then…." he said quietly and walked in the opposite direction.

Walking up the platform, Lily stopped and looked back over the bridge at him as she saw him start running very quickly away. Lily didn’t know if she had meant to smile, or if it just happened…but there she was, smiling like an idiot, watching the weird purple mullet dude who had saved her life run off into the distance. "Nope…" she said quietly to herself "no time for boys" and she walked up the platform and stepped through the portal to Jobe….

    To be continued still

((I make no appologies for how far fetched this story is getting. It is just in how I write. Sometimes I just let it spill out without thinking...and this is what we get....actually, now that I think of it...this whole story is written that same way. hehe))

Lily heard the sound of many little feet on the sand. The green light in the sky grew brighter at each moment. In the dark Lily knelt on the ground washing her hands in the dirt.

"...crap..." she repeated to herself as the dirt twisted around her pale hands and fell back to the ground below. Somehow Lily knew she would need all of her strength for the fight which loomed in the shadows. Again she dipped her hands into the sand, feeling each molecule brush against her skin.

The sound of the little feet started to fade under the sound of the ship above. No longer could lily rely on her senses to fight them off. She had to use the alien light from above and let her eyes guide her completely. She opened them wide, just in time to see one of the alien beasts beam to the ground in front of her. She grabbed her bats and took a defensive stance, swinging the bat on her left back and forth as she held the one on the right perfectly still. If anyone had been watching from a distance, they would think she was warming up to play some baseball...which in a way she was...although the ball wasn't a ball by the head of this four legged alien....thing that now moved briskly towards her.

*swing swing* she continued to swing the left back and forth, catching a glimpse of the smaller Zix moving in around her. Gritting her teeth, she stiffened her body, allowing only her left wrist to move, swinging the bat.

    *swing swing*

She focused completely on the alien charging at her. She was not concerned with anything but. If she could dispose of this one, then she could worry about the others. Her mind focused on step ahead of her as usual, and she worked hard to pull it back

    *Charge Charge*

    *Swing Swing*

    *Charge Charge*

    *Swing Swing*

It honestly only took seconds, but for lily it seemed to move in slow motion...

    *charge charge*

    *swing swing*

    *charge charge*

    *swing swing………..BLAST!!!*

from Behind her a beam of light shot passed her head, hitting the alien charging directly causing it to fall in a heap on the ground in front of her. She was about to turn to see where it had come from, when she saw that the initial alien had actually been leading quite the group of aliens in her direction.

Looking quickly to her left and right she saw the small zix aliens explode from gunfire, and she realized she was no longer alone. With that knowledge she had a new confidence in the fight, and rushed right into the aliens moving at her. Lily was sure she had heard a voice scream at her, but not actually hearing the words, she didn't concern herself with it.

Into the horde of aliens Lily went

    *WHACK WHACK SPIN WHACK WHACK*

She felt stronger than ever, hearing the guns shooting off around her just fueled her instincts, and her reflexes were top notch. She hit a Mongo nano program and watched as seven attacking aliens circled in to jump on her.

The next Move lily does is somewhat amazing, and though writing it in a text format will never do it justice, keep in mind we are talking about a really tall hulking Opifex woman, who by no means should be able to pull this off.

Think of it like a dance if you will. Alien 1 moves in on her left, she swings her bat into its side, and ducks as a hopping alien jumps over her. In the process of ducking the left handed bat swings upwards striking the hopper in a most uncomfortable position taking off one of its legs.

While swinging at Alien 1, alien 2 tries to trample her, when she dives and rolls to the side, causing it to miss, landing on the hopper who was desperately trying to move around on one leg. She then kicks upwards, hitting alien 3, a snake like thing, in the would be face, making it hiss.

It buys her enough time to do a back roll, squishing a zix with her feet as she pulls herself up, striking her right bat on alien 2 and the hopper, and swinging the left bat behind her to smack alien 3 just hard enough to hear it hiss and fall to the ground.

Just when you think this is already amazing we still have alien 4, 5 and 6 (7 already being the dead hopper) Lily smirks and starts swinging each bat around, like propellers. Alien 4 didn't stand a chance as she brought the bats dead center to its head, making the goo flow in the air. She used the weight of the bats against alien 4's head to flip upwards and dodge alien 5, while alien 6 waited to get her on the dismount.

But Lily stayed airborne holding herself up by the head of the dead # 4. When she didn't land, alien 6, confused, started to charge. Alien 5 was bringing itself back around for another pass. one ahead. one behind. She held herself. Then with all her might, she pushed with her arms and bats off of the head of # 4, letting both alien 5 and 6 collide into each other, and lily landing on the puddle of goo it left behind.

Pulling herself up she started to whack aimlessly around her, alien goo flying about, almost like she was tossing a salad. She only stopped with exhaustion, and sat in the gooy ground with a splat.

The green light stayed above her, illuminating the area. She could now see the ones with the guns. They looked like traders....or rebels....or militia...she wasn't sure. They were all masked, and moving forward with their guns drawn. Lily stared forward at them. She wasn't sure if the guns were pointed at her now, or something else.

The answer became clear with the roar from behind her. Lily opened her mouth as if to speak and turned her head slowly around only to see the largest saucer shaped alien beast moving in the direction of her and the men with guns.

".......~OH COME ON!!!!!!~" She screamed in disgust at the sight and slowly pulled herself up as she heard the guns go off around her.

    To be concluded.....

((That's right...one more chapter to go!!))

Exhausted is an understatement when referring to how Lilyflie felt watching the Alien general approaching. She had just whacked so many of them, using strength she had never known, and here now was the biggest, ugly beast she had ever seen.

It was about now she actually missed fighting the walking rocks in the Shadowlands.

Gun fire came from all around her, the masked army that had arrived, firing round after round into the creature. If there was any comfort one would normally take from that, Lily did not feel it. She stood weakly looking up from under her brow at the action. Her bats, were held downwards dragging the ground, in almost a defeated way. Her mind was racing with visions of whacking the Alien....but her heart did not have it in her. She had nothing left in her to fight with.

She turned around and started walking away, still dragging her clubs. She felt a pain in her backside, she hadn’t noticed before, but chose to ignore it. She moved through the crowd of defenders, some of which screamed something at her, but with the deafening gunfire she could not hear what it was. She ignored it and kept walking.

As she reached the other side of the defending force, she was met by several people dressed in white....medics it appeared....who were trying to get her to follow them. At first Lily ignored them and kept walking, however her feet were growing weary and she felt as though she was leaking out of her own skin. Her bats fell to the ground....followed a few moments later by Lily herself.

Lily's eyes stayed open. She saw white boots…she heard shouts and gunfire….she tasted dirt on her lips....."Lily needs to rest now...." she mumbled to herself, but she held her eyes open as the chaos went on around her.

Lilyflie didn't know at this moment how hurt she really was. Medics were trying to bandage her up, but were beginning to lose hope. See, during the last fight when Lily did amazing impossible things, her adrenaline was so intense she didn't feel it when her skin was slashed as she dove from Alien 2, and swung at Alien 1. She also didn’t feel it when the hopper had slashed into her legs as a last desperate act before being smushed by Lily landing on top of it.

She hadn't even felt the misfire of one of the defending army when it went right through her shoulder. The fight had been so focused for Lilyflie, that she didn’t feel any of these things....until now.

Nanobots worked their magic on Lily as the medics went to work, and she just lay still, wishing someone would roll her over so she could look at the sky.....the sky was always such a wonder for her. She loved staring into it....caught in how it was so never ending.....

As Lily was thinking of the sky, a pair of purple boots ran up to her and the owner of the boots (who thankfully was wearing them at the time, or else....well that would be just plain odd now wouldn’t it....) knelt beside her.

"Damn...I know this girl" She heard a familiar voice say. Not familiar in the way you remember an old friend or a lover who screwed you over so many times you have sworn revenge ever since....but familiar in that she had heard it recently.

"You know her?" A female voice asked from behind. Lily assumed it was one of the medics.

"Yeah...er....well no, I mean I have met her recently...."

It was the purple mullet man, lily had no time for after he saved her life from the walking rocks some time ago. She remembered him and for some reason it brought a weary smile to her face, as she lay bleeding to death on the ground.

"She gonna make it?" She heard the mullet man ask in a concerned voice. There was no response. He leaned down so his eyes could meet hers and said "Hey kid..."

With her eyes still open wide, and still kind of smiling she quietly said "I should have made more time for boys...."

He smiled at her, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hang in there....and maybe..."

He was cut short by the alien claw that had swiped its way through the front line of defenders, and made contact with his body causing him to fly out of Lily's view. She blinked for the first time since she had fell. She turned her head and saw what was left of him laying in a pool of blood on the ground.

Lily felt something, but she wasn't sure what it was. She felt a tear in her eye, and wasn’t sure what that was either, having not spent much time crying from what she could remember anyway. Her body was finding a bit of strength and she willed herself on her back.

Above her she saw the Alien. It was swinging at all the remaining defenders that tried to fight it off. Although it had fought its way through the front line of defense, they had weakened it enough that its movements were slower and more desperate. Without thinking Lily began reaching for her bats. Her eyes welling with tears, which really bothered her because she didn't understand why....and her heart filling with rage over the brutal attack on the purple mullet man, she used every bit of strength she had left, and then some to stand.

If you could call it standing, which most would call it wobbling really. And when I say strength, I mean some form of will that becomes strength because there was no strength in Lily at this moment. She looked like a rag doll. She looked like a standing rag doll, with a bat in her hand. She looked like a standing rag doll with a bat in her hand that was leaking. She looked....

Well, she didn't look her best, and let's just leave it at that.

The Alien General swung itself around and came at her. She waved the bat up and down in her hand, which seemed attached to a arm made out of rubber bands. She saw the claw come at her. Her grip tightened for a moment and she swung.

    WHACK!

Into the claw it went sending Lily backwards and the Alien’s claws back with shock. There was an eerie pause on both their parts. Rag doll Lily pulled herself up again, and the Alien with more force swung the claw out. Again Lily's grip tightend for a moment and she swung

    WHACK! SLICE!

The force sent the same shock into the alien, but the claw caught lily’s right arm, and as she fell backwards, she landed noticing the arm was no longer actually attached to her. With her one remaining arm, which still held the bat, she pulled herself up again, wobbling even more than she had.

Gunfire still shot out around her at the Alien, and her last blow to its claw seemed to do some major damage, as it just sat there staring at her....and her back at it. Her tears had dried, and what was left of the dampness around her eyes had caused them to shine eerily under the green glow of the ship above. It was like a stand off. (If this were a b-movie, we would now cut back and forth between the alien and Lily as the music built our suspense)

Again Lily tightened her grip on the bat and swung it around in a little circle. She screamed out "THAT WASN'T FAIR YOU KNOW!! KILLING HIM LIKE THAT!! NOT NICE AT ALL!!" She took stumbling steps towards the alien as she screamed out at it. The wounded creature wasn't quite sure what to make of this display and took a few steps back.

"NOPE....NOT FAIR AT ALL!!!" She continued screaming..."...LILY FINALLY MEETS A NICE BOY, AND WHAT DO YOU DO? YOU SMUSH HIM!! YOU SMUSH HIM RIGHT IN FRONT OF LILY!! IT'S NOT FAIR!!!"

Her steps became quicker, as drunk as she seemed, there was something else pushing her forwards. Her will had taken over. If she was going to go down, she was going to go down like a motherf***a.

By this time the alien had almost been beat by the defending force around it, but it moved on Lilyflie with the same determination. If the alien was going down it was going down like a motherf***a.

They both swung. Lily's one arm moving with a force she had never used before striking its claw, bending it backwards in a way that can't be healthy for any being....and it's other claw slammed into Lily hard throwing her far across the field until she landed with a heavy and squishy thud.

A last shot rang out as the life force left the alien as well, and it toppled to the ground. The ship above began to move slowly away, and Lily lay bleeding, her body broken in several places looking into the sky. As the ship cleared, she could see the never-ending stars and emptiness of the sky. If she could have smiled she would have, but this time there truly was nothing left in her to make that happen.

    Then, everything went white.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, in a small apartment complex in Omni-1, an insurance generator suddenly became active, awaking a fairly attractive, but aged Opifex female, who had been napping on her couch.

"Reconstruction in progress" She had heard the automated system tell her a few times as she rubbed her eyes and came out of dream land.

"Could it be?" She whispered softly with excitement, and moved to the force fielded room she had built specifically for the one insurance pattern she hoped would always come through but never had.

She watched as the process of reconstruction took it's course. As the construction got closer to finished, she began to realize that it was the life force of the one she had spent so much time searching for, being rebuilt thanks to the Rubi-ka Insurance technology.

Where there was once just a empty room, surrounded by a force field, there was now a empty room with a naked young female opifex, who seemed a tad large for its breed and was for some reason missing a arm.

"Lilyflie?" The woman asked quietly through the force field. There was a small pause as the naked being took in her surroundings and let out a small sigh.

"....yes...." She said quietly in response. "....yes, I am home mother...."

    The End.

Thank you friends for following along with Lily's story, and for all the good memories in game. I leave anarchy-online now, but I take with me some of the fondest memories. Take care and stay safe!!

    Cheers
AO is not just about pvp, or Rp or power lvling. It is about whatever the players choose to bring to it. Don't make it personal against one of these groups because you feel nerfed by the game company.

Atlantian: "Jesska Rhees" - lvl 153 Crat - retired
Rimor: Krazee "Lilyflie" Madness - lvl 103 ENF - semi around again

ooc: By the way I should point out as some will find the contradiction of Lilyflie's mother wanting to eliminate her in the earlier part of the story. It was eliminating her that would help set her mind right, as you can see at the end lily knows who she is again. I leave it up to you guys to decide how it got that way to begin with, cause its more fun to use your own imagination sometimes =)

    Farewell,

    Servatis a periculum - servatis a maleficum

And the world spins by with everybody moaning, p***ing, b****ing and everyone is sh***ing
On their friends, On their love, On their oaths, On their honor, On their graves,
Out their mouths and their words say nothing

    We'll miss you.

You'll always have a place in SD if you decide to come back to AO.
