    game content (missions)

First off not sure this is the right forum for this post so if not cosmik please move

    Ok heres my thoughts:

The problem right now with alot of the classes is the fact that the game is completely set up for nothing but combat. If you are a class that is not combat based you have a really tough time accomplishing anything without a group. What needs to be done along with the revamping of the classes is some content needs to be added to the game. IE missions. I thought there was going to be a totally unique mission system in this game with diverse missions and roles going to be available. This is simply not in the game. You have a choice of a few mission types which are all the same except for the final task: kill mobs and then find item/person, kill person, take item to something to be fixed and so on. There needs to be alot of things changed with this. My idea is something like for traders for example, go find a person in some other town and bring him an item. Now this would not require any fighting and might be fun to find the person in some house or other place. If you are a clanner and have to take an item to omni territory perhaps you might have to pass a checkpoint for smugglers and such, just to add some bit of difficulty to it. I know this isn't much but I just want to express some idea to build on for the real game designers. There is just simply not any veriety to missions. And this is one of the biggest reasons I started playing AO. Please anyone feel free to add your thoughts.

I completely agree with this thread, I need a way to make experience that also fits in with my characters role in the universe.
I play a completely non combat Doc, but it is too difficult to gain experience.
In order to get experience I have to group, but very few people want to group with a low lvl Doc because they have no nanos. or real healing potential until they can get money (ie from missions that I cannot do)

playing the same amount of time with my other characters I would be level 20 by now, as they are all killers. but my Doc is only level 3 as he is having a personal crisis over killing. mincing meat to create blood plasma or creating trade items does not give enough XP

I would love to see a change in the missions to give non fighters a chance to gain some much needed XP. or a chance to RP a character that is not based on combat. There is nothing wrong with playing a combat Doc... but I would like the option not to.

    more variation in missions please!

and hey.. if anyone wants to help out a pretty useless Doc (at the moment) send a /tell to Trimus (lvl3 clanner) on RK2... I have a long memory and will be sure to save your life and return the favour in the future.

    thanks for the thread Joe
    Long live the clans!

    Shameless bump,

Just want to see if anyone else has ideas on incorperating some other types of missions into the game. Ideas that can add content and something to do besides running the same old missions time and again. Hunting is great but there need to be some kind of other ways to get money without haveing to constantly run the same missions over and over again.

    Cool hmmmm

    hmm some ideas .... :

    - run nanos on person/object :

    - run nano on person

like the good old "cast sleep on poor princess to have her shut-uuuuuhh erm i mean to get her even nicer or so ehehe"

    - run nano on object

instead of the generic item to fix radar, one does need a specific nano to solve mission (can vary dependin on lev of avatar/difficulty-settin at mission booth)

    - seek out/explore/travellin mission

    - seek out

player has to id a npc/object and givin ref to mission booth (yeah, cool we allready have that ehehehe)

    - explore

player has to id more than one object/npc (checkpoints) in a certain playfield and return refs to mission booth. mission can give reward for each checkpoint or only at the end.

    - travellin

player has to travel to different cities and ref objects/npcs and return refs to mission booth. only "find"-missions as option. maybe partially solved gives reward too.

    - chainin objectives

player gets an easy first task (get item). when returnin item, he has to give it to some npc. that npc gives a key to mission location with another item. and so on ....

    - tradeskill/create stuff missions

player has to create item and return it to booth/another npc (chained missions) etc

yo, just the regular stuff from the other mmorpgs out there ehehehe

now when i close my eyes and think about somethin real cool i would say :

    - civil unrest

player needs to get certain amount of people into specific playfield/area/locs. after that a certain amount of political side changes/mass killing of opposite faction members has to happen from these people (within given time frame).

    - new messiah

player needs to get certain amount of people into specific playfield/area/locs. after that huge amount of items need to get destroyed/mass execution of emotes/chat server spamming (ok, maybe not ehehe) has to happen from these people.

    - the conqueror

player needs to get certain amount of people into specific playfield/area/locs. then the mob needs moving to certain playfields killing a certain amount/all npcs of opposite faction members. amount of playfields to conquer depends on lvl.

    - financial super-power

player has to control certain amount of all trade happenin in a certain/multiple playfields. a certain amount of credits has to be earned within a given time-frame. a certain amount of new items has to be created and labeled (if possible) with a given text-string (again within a set time-frame of course).

Building missions and tasks more specified for professions would solve alot of the profession problems i think.

Fixer are supposed to long and far away, let them have missions where the hardest task is to get to it, and transport items. Or they could observe large areas for tactical information.

Agent are supposed to conseal and hide, and get for example valuable information, or assasinate a enemy VIP. And for example, if the agent gets caught, then mission is failed. And this in other surroundings than the usual room to room missions. Maybe the agent should have to hide on a hill to assasinate? Build special mission maps. Make quests to solve, coded messages that have to be decoded etc. Make agents twist theyr brains on logical tasks other than how tweak on theyr rifles.

Enforcer are support to hold long time in battle, make missions where they have to tank and mongoslam and fight for a VIP NPC that have to travel through a hard mob area.

Doctors are healers and surgeons. When they are not out in teams healing, they should have tasks in theyr home city, doing medical services to make money. (for example remove implant machines, let ppl find doc to do a surgery) Let doc make stims and pills that makes a difference in diffrent tasks. Doc could even change ppls look by surgery (larger boobs girls?) This would give the doctor a fair income, when this services and products are needed and wanted by the ppl.

Traders could have shops they could sell items and services. Traders house could be made instead of shop channnels to, where all ppl could put theyr items for sale for the price they want. Here the traders should be responsible for advertising for the items for sale in theyr houses, and i.e. charging X% from each item sold.

Engineer could have workshops, where they made weapons etc. The prices on tradeskill must be lowered, it cost far more to build a weapon than it costs finished made in shop. Make weapons that are only able to get from tradeskills.

Adventurer should be out in the wilderness. Let adventurer have missions where tasks is to discover and explore Rubi-Ka, and minor figting missions at these places.

Nano Technician, NT houses for making nanocrystals and implant assembling service.

Bureaucrat, hmmm, i have problems with imagine what tasks they could do, since i think its more a GM suited profession, talking for the OT coorp etc. (like SpokesPerson Derva lvl 250 crat) But maybe they could have ability to make ppl able to reset a certain amout of they IP, make false IDs (for agents for example) Mainly paperwork things?

Meta Physicist... hmmmr except NP skills, i let others suggest for MP.

MA/Soldiers already have fighting missions, altho this could have more varation, and "new" things.

just ideas... There is probably some problems with some of it, and im sure there is alot more ideas out there.

Stuff like this i think would make the citys more breathing and alive. Make houses in citys into special places for professions, make casinos, stripclubs, more emotes, special items - limited to 10 examples, or only 1.. or rare items with high level req, just for fun (not mods)

Other thing: more battle music, not the same all the time
