Garudi took out the huge knife from its sterile container and started to slice open his left arm from his elbow to his wrist. It didn’t hurt him, he had been thoroughly sterilised before hand and his medical knowledge was sky high.Yes, it was implant day again; it had become time to replace all the cybernetic skill enhancing implements that were embedded in his body. He had started with his left-arm, as it was the easiest to get in. He imagined that the biggest problem would be fitting the latest in implant technology, his head symbiant. Sure, it increased his knowledge about a lot of things, but it was going to be a pain to get in. literally.

He opened the box that the head symbiant was in, and lifted it out. It wriggled slightly in his hands and uttered a faint squelching sound. Unlike normal implants it was actually alive, it was this very fact that made it so good at its job. Garudi involuntarily shuddered. He didn’t like the thought of that thing residing in his head, feeding off his body. But in return it would give him much greater knowledge in stuff he’d only dreamed about.

He glanced at the gaping wound in his arm and got back to work on fitting the implant. Using the knife as a lever, he pried out the existing implant from his flesh, and let it fall into one of the sterilised plates in front of him. The implant was old and poorly made, he wondered why he ever put it there in the first place. He wiped the excess blood from his knife onto his med-suit, then put the brand new implant carefully into the place that the last implant had been. The new implant was of a much better build quality, using the latest plastic-steel hybrid material, it increased his strength and his ability to change matter by a huge amount.

Now that the implant was in, he let his flesh close and rapidly heal itself. Once this was done (it only took a few minutes), he tested out his new found strength, feeling his muscles bulge. Oh yes, he could get used to this. Next it was time for his leg…
