Thread: Pandemonium Backstory?

  1. #161

    Also.

I'm pretty sure the aliens are "true" Xan. More than likely, the "Redeemed" side.

The Xan had no "redeemed" and "unredeemed" sidings. They were just "good" and "bad" Xan.

Like, they prolly called each other:

    "Mystic Porn Stars"
    and
    "Flashy Super Queens"

or something stupid like that. The Unredeemed and Redeemed could only recently become "redeemed" and "unredeemed" because they only recetly could access their homes and take control of their people.

What you gotta think about is... where are the "good" Xan at, prior to Shadowlands? We know exactly where the "bad" were. There is never any mention of the "good" though, is there? Correct me if I am wrong. I know David was chosen but you never see these figures, do you?

What if the Aliens are the "true Xan" -- "good" side and David was their counter-act to the "bad" side that was leading humanity towards Rubi-Ka in order to get back to Eden?

Somebody sealed the source with the expectations that if anyone got there again, the Beast would kill them. They didn't count on outside influence -- nano tek, spirit tek, ect to aid us. In RP we use advanced weaponry, in reality we don't see it as such but our bullets and stuff are probably like enchanted now or some crap.

So what if the 'Servants of Eight' only is a myth? What if the 'Octopus' never really existed - that there were no meeting with 'the other side'?
What is a "meeting with 'the other side' "? Is it a meeting between redeemed and unredeemed, or is it a portal between RK and the Shadowlands? Ergo fits nicely into that picture, transporting travellers to Elysium.

If you want to consider an alchemical view, a third possibility is the combination of notum with novictum.

Shadowlands map looks to me like the tree of life found in the Kabbalah of Jewish mysticism. The middle path primarily, with the unredeemed and redeemed as the left and right paths. Except that the sephiroth or spheres of existence on the tree of life is been distorted and corrupted. The shadowlands has a sort of biological aspect to the mapping, until you get to Pandemonium where things take on a more near schematic appearance, or higher mental state.

This picture when you take a step back, well does nothing for me at the moment.. but its interesting to say the least

    True.

The Shadowlands are supposed to tie into a lot of major biblical references.

Sephorit is not just a conicidence, no doubt.

Dante, Machavhelli, ect... Anyone listened to uber_redeemed_boss.mp3 or whatever in the AO Sound directory? That's gotta be Dante, my friends! Now where the hell is he in game.... with my phat loot.... mwahha

Ok, I dont know everything yet, but these are just some theories i have.

I dont know if anyone has noticed yet, but everything in AO is somewhat like earth (RL). I have sent a post before that our battle between Omni-Tek and Clans will never end as long as selfishness is a human nature of ours.
The redeemed are selfish and so are the unredeemed. Whatever they are doing (wether they search divinity or power or whatnot) they are doing it for theyre own good. This is also seen in the struggle we have on Rubi-Ka. Some want peace, some want war, some want power, some want freedom.
But in the end it all comes down to one thing. Everyone is doing it for theyre own good.

    Ergo.

I really think the theory of Slyz might be correct.
First of all, when you pay attention to the details of the conversations with ergo, from the begining theres something wierd about him. You think he looks like a godly figure. Something out of the ordinary. But then he acts as if you are a godly figure and you react surprised and somewhat proud of yourself (could be a nice trick). In adonis Ergo reacts rather strange, he tells you a part of a story about Novictum and Notum but stops in the middle and says "its not the time yet to tell it".
Ergo somehow leads you to the source telling you to help out. The only "Ergo" (number nine) tells you that you made a mistake destroying the beast. while none of the others mention anything about this (correct me if im wrong).

[to be honest, its 1 am right now and i have to wake up in 4 hours. My mind is almost bursting because so many questions are left unanswerd. would really like a hint by now heheh. There are too many theories that might be correct but colide with other theories that might be correct too and for the moment being i dont have the power to think more deeply about this. for me its just "wait for some breakthrough". I think I heard one of you mention Abaddon.
In following with the biblical references, Aboddon (in hebrew, in greek it is apolyon) is the angel of the bottomless pit which commands the hoards of locusts with the sting of a scorpion that torments man for a season....

Who brought on the apocalypse? Thanks a lot guys

Also, the cathedral, and the reference to merlin piercing a 'lid', maybe a vessel for containing the source as the ark of the covenant? The cathedral being as the temple, a holy place to hold the source as it were?

Or maybe we just freed the gates of hell to bring about our own misery and destruction.... count me in, bring it alien freaks!

Oh, and ergo is evil, said that from the beginning, ask my friends

But how and why do the aliens have a link to Rubi-Ka? :P

Isn't it obvious? They're related to leets. The source was the only link they had to pr0n, and now we've cut it off. What do you think happens next?

I can't pass up the oppurtunity to poke fun at a dev, so longshot, look back to page 3 or 4 and you'll see that we realiezed a while ago that the link to rubi-ka is based throug hthe source. Its the essence of all creation and is hence tied to everywhere, which means that if we start shooting at it (yee-ha!) everywhere gets shot. Actually that could be a sweet AoE attack, but thats for later

I am aware that this is what you think ties the universe to Rubi-Ka, but the aliens have an even stronger tie to the source. Something caused a bunch of them to die! Why is that? And why is their bond so strong? Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself here, just ignore me

  12. #172
Interestign, also thank you for giving us some direction.

Stronger tie? Extremelly interesting. I am yet to have a conclusive or finalized theory on their identity but I have alot which are poorly thought out. Actually, prempetive self edit, Every theory I've thought of I can argue well against. I'll be back though.

Oh, also, I have several questions that I need to pose to the assorted people hacking away at this puzzle and to the Devs if they'll awnser

    1. Who wrote the Codex Clavis?
    2. Is it possible to recover more of the Codex?
    3. What was before the source?
    4. Was there a before the source?
    5. What exactly are these creatures from before time which in turn became the brink creatures? (verse 41)

Asanine poorly tought out theory 1

    Codex says

    -Verse 195
"Eight times a new hero sacrified him- or herself to keep the King alive - and he was no longer one soul, but eight. Before he had the body of twenty, now he also had the mind of eight."

Assuming this means the fisher king, and hence the beast, and I also will say that the 20 bodies are immortal ones

    -Verse 204
"Ergo chose twenty Knights, each raised from the lands, each from separate houses. He set them to protect the trees, never to leave their posts. In return for their services they gained immortality. "

Perhaps the aliens are the spirits/minds of the bodies sacrificed in the creation of The Beast. [-EDIT- added and revisited] They use primarily biotech devices which may in fact be their only means of existance, A conclusion i draw from the fact that when you kill an aliens combat rig the alien also dies. Now powering a device like that would require something crazy, like for example the source. Now they had some means on drawing upon the source before, and hence giving their biomass immortality as it has to so many others. This immortality means machines means life. We kill the beast we dissrupt the immortality, machines blackout, people randomly die. How can they draw on teh source you ask? very simple. The barrier is weaker at points which had immideatly touched the shadowlands before. Key among these would be the nexus for normal space genesis, RK, and the edges of that genesis. Now the aliens are said to live on the edge of the universe so.... Granted that last point is sketchy at best, If i formulate this theory any further I'll edit again

More theories, This one stolen directly from Krystanova

She points out a star sanctuary gun, forget exactly (im tired) but she also makes the excellent point that the aliens could be the neutral faction. They could be looking at us and saying, "Damn! last time this happened all of reality got split in 2 (rk/sl) well looks like we have to solve things ourselves now" Once again this backs the biotech stuff on the basis that all spiritech stuff seems to be made of living things and that the xan had spiritech, so the alien biotech and xan spiritech could be one in the same

I`m getting so excited about the revelation of the Alien`s motive for killing us that I cant sit still
I'm a runaway train on a broken track,
I'm a ticker on a bomb that you can't turn back this time,
that's right, I got away with it all and I'm still alive

duct tape, also shouldn't we be a bit worries that theres an ancient and possibly immortal force coming in vast numbers from the edge of the universe solely to destroy us?

I was thinking and another theory occured to me

Let me first stat that I don't actually like this one, partially because it screws up all previous discussions which cited the codex, but mostly because I think it's too dramatic. Soap opera dramatic, e.g. "Your entire family was killed when a plane piloted by your fiancee crashed into your uninsured home; and you have an inoperable tumor."

    Anyway,

What if it's all a plot? Like all of it. Ergo was placed by the aliens to monitor their private notum mine (to them the source is the ultimate tower) and the beast is an alien who serves as the eternal guard. The aliens are super advanced so they would know how to trick puny human scum by doing things like planting assorted decoys like the infamous codex and writing up all of ergos story line. The key plothole here is that It dosn't awsner who they are but that may be the point. The aliens are an entirely new thing, maybe FC dosn't want us to know?

    wee

I think the Alien's are from the Shadowlands. I think they are a future of the True Xan -- that or the Source itself. I do not think they are random, evolved creatures from another world.

    Rubi-Ka, or a better name -

    Eden, the Source of Existence,

is where everything was created, from this higher plane of existence, from this Source.

    Right?

I've got one big theory regarding Pandemonium, The Beast, The Source and the Aliens.

Presumably, Pandemonium is the home to The Source.

I believe that Pandemonium is NOT part of the Shadowlands at all. Instead, it IS the Source, an entirely different world. As such, it is connected to Rubi-Ka and the Shadowlands, but also to an Alien equivilent of the two.

I believe that when the Redeemed and Unredeemed were formed after splitting apart from eachother, the Redeemed proceeded to give life to Humans, and the Unredeemed gave life to the Aliens, or vice-versa.

The only major difference is that the Human-life givers knew that their creations would be quick to harness power from the Source if given the chance, so the Humans were placed on Earth, far from Rubi-Ka, the closest source of Notum, and the closest entrance to the Source.

The Aliens, however, were placed directly at their own version of Rubi-Ka, which was a generated source of Novictum. At first, this didn't effect the Aliens. However, the Aliens quickly evolved and built up technology, making their way to their own Shadowlands, where the effects of the Source were stronger. This caused the long-term effects of the Novictum to destroy the Aliens.

The Humans were given life and power from the Source, proved so by items found in the Shadowlands (even some of the starter items for Jobe, such as the Coil of Health, which temporarily infuses the user with the Source). The Aliens, however, experienced death and destruction when exposed to the Source.

When this was discovered, the creators of the Aliens had The Beast placed to regulate the energy from the Source, essentially what The Fisher King did before, regulating and protecting the Source from being harnessed by those who would use it to gain power. It basically turned the Source into an hourglass, only leaking small amounts of energy out of Pandemonium and throughout the universe. This allowed the Aliens to live, and the Humans were allowed to die on Earth, away from the Notum.

When Humans first arrived at Rubi-Ka, they quickly harnessed the power of Notum and the Source, as their creators had feared. The Humans eventually made their way to the Shadowlands, and, in turn, to Pandemonium, a.k.a. The Source. There, we fought and killed The Beast, causing the energy buildup in the Source from being regulated to be unleashed upon the universe.

This energy fluxuation didn't affect the Humans, as they were given life from the Source. They simply became immortal for a split second as the wave of energy passed through them. The Aliens were drastically affected by the energy wave. When the energy came in contact with the Aliens, it reactivated the effect of Novictum on them, killing many of them instantly, hence the thousands of screams heard upon the death of The Beast.

Number Nine was designed and placed by the Humans' creators to warn the Humans about what they had done if they ever destroyed The Beast.

There are now two reasons that I can think of as for why the Aliens are coming:

    1. They are coming to Rubi-Ka to drive us off the planet and set things right by placing a new protector of the Source. In order to insure nothing like this happens again, they need to force us from Rubi-Ka.

    2. They're PISSED.

Well, that's my theory. It's probably wrong, but it's really fun to think up some theory about the creation of the universe. I should write a book on that some time.

  20. #180
Marius said in an interview on norwegian television that: "The aliens are coming because they want the resources".

Now that might have been a bad use of words, I donæt know. But if it was correct, the aliens are here because they want the notum/source for themselves. Also hints where given that the alien invasion is just the beginning of a whole new era.
