You SoBs! You have had a team working on this expansion for a while obviously. And you're also pulling testers and balancers to be on this team.

p.s I would still buy the pack though, even if I was unhappy about it!
Just a fyi, running any network is not cheap. All mmorpg's have to pay out money for: on hand staff 24/7, programer's, bandwith, backup hardware, etc....

Do you think all that is cheap? plus with thier players droping like flies, becuase of the game bugs and getting boreing, they need to do something fast. I for one hope this exp helps add alot of new content. I play this game about 3 times a week now because I'm bored with it and hate the bugs. I used to play everyday, soon as I got home from work till 100am and repeat the next day. yes I agree the bugs should be fixed before we get a exp, but I understand why.

UO did this same thing when EverQuest was starting to be just around the corner. They promised a ton of new stuff and halfway delivered on half of it. This was the point where UO stopped being fun and started over-catering to the casual gamer.

Same thing here. However, the announced ideas are, in typical FunCom fashion, actually intriguing. We all know that Star Wars: Galaxies is scheduled for a November/December release. That game could somewhat be construed as SciFi and a direct competitor to AO. In any event, the developers for that game seem to 'get it' to a certain degree and are generating a lot of excitement.

Time will tell if it's gonna be just a repeat of the letdown we got from Anarchy Online. Not that AO is a bad game. I like it a lot. It's just the broken promises, failure to deliver, and misguided direction changes during the paid beta period that sometimes make it more of a heartache than it's worth.

I seriously hope the developers realize that the game needs to be fun first and working and balanced second. If a game works and is balanced, but is boring and/or annoying as hell, you only keep the most devoted of fans. If your game is fun (as AO was from May to August last year and December to February this year), people will fervently work through the flaws and forgive the 'groan factor' in order to play.

Here's hoping the expansion shows that FunCom can put the Fun back in AO.

How will this affect the ongoing enhancements of the game right now? Will we be hearing over and over again that "that feature won't come until the expansion pack."? Capturing and holding territories for example, currently scheduled for mid 2002, will that come then or will it be pushed into the expansion pack?

This is interesting, u guys are acting like u have to shell out a hundred dollars for it. It AT MOST will be 50 bucks, more than likely only 30 for an expansion that will probably take up a good amount of megs, personally i won't mind having to spend a little chump change so i don't sit here patching for days, while all you cable modems zoom through and start playin. Anybody have the strategy guide from Sybex?? If you look at the maps u'll see a good half of the playfields aren't even active! I personally think the world is huge enough but this expansion might mean most of those being active. Its only 30 bucks! not the end of the world. Thats like what, three lawns for most of you? It'll probably have some pretty good stuff with it too to make it worth it. At least look at EQ, where they put out an expansion for every new zone they create, add a race, then they sit for a year and reap the benefits. Unlike that, Anarchy changes constantly. Sure, promiseing stuff that isn't in the game isn't the most moral thing to do, but its a business tring to appeal to people to develope a player base. Personally, i know i'll be running to the store to buy any expansion that they bust out.

I can see how that would be put in a exp, because what they just might do is add new zones that can change sides for who ever won the fight. They already stated that any new zones made will be put into exp packs. Thus with adding jobe a new zone, we get a exp. I for one don't want to log in w athens one day and it is now omni tert and I go into a endless loop of death until some clanners can kill off the omnis.

edit: I won't mind paying for a exp if it means getting more fun out of this game, hell if anyone complians that they can't afford it, then maybe you shouldn't be playing this game.

So Funcom decides not to tells us but let us find out ourselves, typical.

    Good!

The expansion pack would be GREAT!! ( of course in theory if it meets up to what it says it should..).

Stop whining about that the things should be there from the start.

The features that can be implemented in RK are ENDLESS. They can add as many zones as they like - which is good. What do you guys expect ? If they decide to expand AO - I think it's not more than normal that we have to pay for the expansion pack.

I'd rather have FC hire a few extra employees - make more expansion packs / add things to RK and pay for it than not having anything added at all. That's my point...

There are other things you can complain about - but not this one.

  16. #36
Perhaps Funcom considers appealing to potential players to be more important than communicating with the existing player base.

    muahaha

As in the world of AO money is no object! who cares if it will cost 50$ thats peanuts.

Maby you should get a JOB instead of playing ao 24/7! And if your in collage, study!

    .

    This will be free, right?

I can handle 1 expansion pack. Many games years later have released them. But, if they start releasing more and more, its gonna get outa hand.

Why we can't download the expansion it's self, I dont understand. I mean, currently we can download the intire game! How will the 7 day-trial exist if players cannot download the expansion pack?

Just make sure you complete the world at least this time.. Okay? Lets not just add one zone. Lets at least make it to where you can walk to Broken Shores from another City.

Not one of these new features (except the planes of existance, that is damn cool) would make me want to buy this...or re-active my subscription for that matter.
Lol, on what flap of the box was Jobe specifically mentioned?
