Thread: MA Items you'd like.

    the thing is, FC said that we will be #3 in the damage dealing catagory, well above a EQB enforcer, to do that we need some MAJOR love, be it either a doubling (tripling... quadrupling?) of the current fist damage (which wouldnt really help, because then lots of other classes would go MA to, and we would end up with MA enforcers) or thru MA only items. Attacks wont increase our damage enough unless they recharge ever 4 seconds, Nukes arnt our style, so that leaves either self only HUGE damage booster nanos, or new weapons.

    of course thats just my opinion....

    But didn't FunCom state that in SL MAs would be most effective going fist only? That seems to rule out giving us new flashy weapons.

    Well, no matter what, I hope SL will improve us some.

    I would like to see two seperate but related schools of special attacks, lets call them "Dragon Fist" and "Dragon Palm". The fist school would be a highly aggresive style of fighting while the palm school would be more defensive. For the dedicated MA who learns both schools, a third school can open up at high levels that is a combination of both.

    In regards to the damage of fists having to increase dramatically. Yes it will have to, and there is a way of doing it that doesn't make everyone else go MA for the damage.

    In an interview about agents a question about damage(pretty much the same subject we are talking about right now, how can agents do so much damage without everybody else going rifle?) came up, and the answer was this:

    There will be damage multipliers, such that an agent using the exact same rifle with the exact same skills as say, a doctor, would be doing a bunch more damage. I imagine this would apply to MA's and fist damage as well. This lets us do amazing amounts of damage, even compared to someone with the same skills.

    requires less comp lit then a normal belt, but also has MA req and true MA proffession.
    dyna/boss loot

    +ma, riposte, dimatch, brawl and parry (for the 6 sloters, less for the lower versions)

    Well, I stumbled upon this thread at Idea Monkey's siggie, and I have to say, if they implement the fighting styles (WITH the animations damnit!!!), I WILL make a MA 150% sure, no second thoughts about it!

    On a side note, I like all your ideas here, but, there's something I don't like about AO, and that is the shape of the swords, they all look the same, and they all look like they're gonna break if you use them!

    Now THAT'S a sword!

    You know, like the one the main guy in Final Fantasy VII has, or Batousai's friend, in Ruroni kenshin!!

    Where are the Broad Swords? Bastard Swords? Claymores, Flmaberges? the EoT is nice, but impossible to get, and the Sir Galahad Sword could have a little less "thingies", also, the Dessecrator is nice and all, but it's way unreal, it's WAY to thick to look real, where a Broad Sword would be as big as that, but not as thick, and the handle wouldn't be so.. (damn, what's the word....) bleh, you know, with all the thingies, if you know what I mean; The QB is nice also, but let's face it, it's not a "blade", it's a saw, you would have to move it back and forth to do any serious dmg with it, it just doesn't look quite like a sword.

    I have nice drawing skills, I'll dray my perfect view of a MA with a REAL sword!

    (No brawl, you can't move your hands much if you have a massively long sword, you would loose your balance and your gravity center)

    Equip time: 6 Seconds (dunno, this was random )
    Attack time: 4 Seconds
    Recharge time: 6 Seconds

    450 - 960 (350)

    5% to deliver Death Blow (roots target for 4 seconds, 500 melee damage) (as much as I would want the Death Blow to be, well, a death blow, that won't happen, but in reality, one blow with this sword would cut you in half

    It would require to be Martial Artist to equip it, and no agent with FP, this sword really fits the MA Samurai style (I think...), and it will be designed to put the MA in the top of the dmg ladder, like it was supposed to be, it would even be better than the EQB, with the high crit, and a flurry, wich will make you crit like 80% of the time.

    LtBurlap, among all the ideas I have seen, your was the absolutely best, and most logical thing.

    Of course there should be a belt just for the Martial artists! Very, VERY Good suggestion, the more I think about it, the better it gets.

    I kinda agree, but Martial Artist should at all times be light, swift, and agile. Still...I would love the Buster Sword that Cloud used, or Ragnarok/Organics/Crystal Sword. Ooops....spoiling my FF7 addiction am I...

    ive been thinking about the Meditation nano mentioned by someone else earlier, hows this:

    a nano range a little smaller then the fists line, self cast only, lasts 30 min. When ever the MA is sitting it casts a HoT/NoT on him/herself and a smaller one on eveyone in the team, say 500/500 at the highest lvl every 5 seconds while sitting (maybe only 300/300 on team mates). The HoT/NoT would have to be a hostile nano that cant overwrite itself to prevent someone from spam sitting and getting loads of instant health. Maybe there could be a "Reckless Mediatation" line that has 3-4 times the HoT/NoT but locks your treatment/TS while the HoT/NoT isbeing run (IE any time you are sitting)? reqs would be pm and bm, maybe ts as well (same for the normal and reckless lines for the same ql).

    of course they would have to chage the name of "Meditate on an Autumn Leaf"

    hmm...

    *rifles through his notes* How about a nano line that increases our Health/Nano Deltas? Something akin to the Soldier's "Body Buffs"? Or more over like HoTs/Humidity nano lines? *rifles through more notes* Also a piece of equipment-come-armor like a cloth wrap, you see them in "lesser" martial arts films the cloth that extends beyond reason and can used defensively to block/parry, like the 'Anything' equipable in HUD/UTIL/Armor slots. Hell make a Nodrop/Unique/Leveling item to better reflect one own's development as an MA. Ideally it would boost AC's and Defense/Offense effectively. Effectively being the key word. Should SL come out and slant damage output towards open-handed combat, I'll just give FC a cold,mean and disapproving glare concerning Tai Chi swords as they are in-game. Knowing what from about Tai Chi swords I find them kind of insulting.

    effectivly doubles the effect of the Agg bar, full agg causes twice the amout of aggro, double the init bonus, double the defencinve penealty... the exact opposite for full def. Could be used by any proff (not really a MA item, others would LOVE to have this)

    with the upgrade to the agg/def bar in 15.1 this could be a really nifty little item

    sense and agi buffs too much to ask?

    more init/evade buffs of varying levels?

    liking the ideas about different schools/styles of fighting.

    maybe another type(?) armor/items that buff nano skills not physical skills, representing a more spiritual MA.

    here's that idea...

    Wounded animal line

    a 5 nano line starting about lvl 40 with Wounded Timberwolf, then dispersed evenly up to around 150 are Wounded Couger, Bear, Tiger and lastly Dragon


    To cast your health must be below 50%.

    Wounded Timberwolf
    Psy School
    Requires BM and PM, true MA, health below 50%
    lasts 50 seconds
    Attack 0.10, recharge 4.00

    casts a 40 point hot (hits every 5 seconds, 10 hits), huge plus to aggdef (larger then a Flurry of the same level), +100 to phys init, +5% crit, 5% chance to cast Curtain of Darkness on hit, locks all nanoskills for 30 seconds


    Wounded Couger
    lasts 1min
    attack 0.10, recharge 3.50

    casts a 80 point hot, larger plus to aggdef, bigger + to init, +9% crit, 5% chance to cast Lesser Eyeblighter on hit, locks for 30 seconds


    Bear and Tiger are better versions, lasting slightly longer, better crit and blinding % (and better blinding spells), beter HoT's and add to add all Off not aggdef, so you dont get the hit to your defencive checks.


    Wounded Dragon
    lasts 2min
    attack 0.10, recharge 3.50

    casts a 500ish point hot, massive boost to add all Off (several hundred), huge + to init, +25% crit, 25% chance to cast Eviscerate Eyes on hit, locks for 30 seconds




    nothing is more dangerous then a wounded animal....

    Yea i also hope they SERIOUSLY do something about that. Since i was lvl 80 to 130 i had to be the doc in my team. I know there are others ma's out there that does more healing than dmg. Fc made us like this, the ma was good in the beginning but we'r just sinking.

    Anyways are there any weapons that can be built for ma's ?. Would be more fun if we could build our weapons, like the old ninjas. lol

    Talking my best idea to date?

    how this, custom MA attacks


    you start off with a Martial Artist Base Move item of a cirtin ql (this determins the ql of the final attack) that cant actually be used for any attack. The higher the QL, the higher the requirements start off at

    you then have 3 "slots" to put upgrades into. each upgrade will increase the requirements to use (IE a ql 200 direct damage upgrade my increase the requirements by 200 MA, 50 Dimatch and requires 100 nano to use). There will be a direct damage upgrade, a DoT upgrade, a team/self heal upgrade, a team/self HoT upgrade, a damage shield upgrade, a damage shild dropper, stun, root and snare breaker/maker, even an upgrade that does no damage but lowers the recharge time... you get the idea


    In the same way that the requirements for implants are influenced by the clusters in them, so to are the requirements for the attack. IE if your attack "clusters" have mostly Dimatch as their influence, your attack will lock dimatch, same for brawl, ma, even first aid if you have only heals


    imagine having a Dimatch attack that drops their damage and reflect shield and roots them, then follow up with a FA attack that has a direct self heal, a self HoT and a Team HoT that stacks, lastly an MA or Brawl attack that does some direct damage, adds a DoT and steels some nano???

    Being more serious

    On a more serious note,

    Various RL martial arts styles use weapons, so how about MA attacks based on MA and an additional Weapon, such as 1H Edged or Bow (Zen Archery...)

    Martial Arts Style nanos, The MA casts a nano, changing the style of fighting they use,

    Dragon Style, Lowers Init but adds to AC and damage
    Monkey style, increases Evades and Run but lowers Damage
    and so on

    Better MA armour, damn it I want a samuri suit, not new pygamas
