    Team Dynamics

My fiancee and I have recently taken up AO and are playing as a team. We would like to see how far we can get together with as little teaming with others as possible. She is dead set on playing a MA and I wanted to try something new, so I picked the Doctor. We are not looking for the end all be all combination, but we do not want to get annilated every time we log in.

What kind of dynamics can this team posses? I am playing as a MA Doctor as I do not think it is reasonable to think that a MA can tank all the way through by themselves. Plus, I personally like being in on the action. What can I do as a doctor to make this team successful? I am not necessarily looking for a doctor guide as much as I am wanting to know how this combination would work best.

    Thank you in advance.

to be honest if your planning on only doing missions as a duo all the way to lvl 200, I think 2 MA's would do better than a MA/DOC.

Doc's are at there best in full teams, Ma's are at there best soloing, they also do very well in "all MA teams" guess cause there a all rounder type proffession.

not that a doc/ma will be bad, but i think your both going to have to adapt and learn with experience for the best results, rather than relying on ppls opinions i.e. maybe you have to adapt your Doc to be more combat focused etc...

I've done Doc/Sol Doc/Enf duo's before they work very well.

I guess if I have to pass on anything useful for you it would be that, all rounders complement other all-rounders, and specialists complement other specialists of other specialty's.

I would think MA/Adventure team is better than Doc/MA or 2 MA team. Why? Because Adventure can offer a lot more to a two persons team than doctor. Just make Adventure to use pistols instead of melee weapons. This way, when meet the type of mobs that got good parry against melee attacks, at least one of you two can deal out damage. Adventure can heal pretty good, at same pack a lot of damage with good pistols.

One good combo could be adv/crat.

That combo has all the possibilities at lower levels, and also later.

Adv/Crat? Well, you got try MP/Crat combo. lvl 15-97 in four days of casual play. hehe It was crazy lvling. Pulled 100% missions through entire time. Stormed through all those missions like no tomorrow.

Although we did have nanos upto QL 142-159 for both toons. The funny part is that we were in pure robe without armor at all during the whole time.

However, since he asked the best partner for a MA, I would say Adventure wins the spot.

If your doc can keep MA to a decent level, then you should be ok in a doc / ma team - and MAs can buff MA (!) by a good amount for little NCU costs (+92 for 21 NCU at lvl 45ish), as well as a +45 brawl buff for 11 NCU (DF).

In terms of MA tanking, the answer to your question is: it depends. My MA tanks very well, but I have to work pretty hard to keep agro with other people putting out good firepower.

If the Ma is an Atrox you'll be ok as long she keeps PM upped to use the best taunt nano she can - also Atrox can use Da Taunter which is very handy. To ensure good tanking, an MA really benefits from the additional HP trox offers - and the use of str/stm armour is pretty vital after you move from carb.

Lastly, with a doc teaming, the MA can ease off on the heals and concentrate on getting evade / run / ma / fist / controlled destruction lines as high as possible. Atrox suffer because of gimpy int, but you can get good results.

My only concern is that there may be times when a duo wants ranged ability - which falls to the doc in this case. The parry issue is part of it, but also PvP aspects require a ranged alternative. For PvM / missions / hunting you'll be ok with two MAs. The last thing is no CC means adds in team missions etc can get scary.

Ever try a Full Doc team?

It was kinda funny, everyone was at a constant full heal. Damage was so slow lol.

not to side track too much,
absolutley the most boring team i have ever been in was 5 engies and I...hanging out at the bothackers in PM....would have to hit an unengaged mob jsut to have some one to heal...

i think Servivious hit all the hight points to yrou question though.

I played some duos, but, as far as it goes, my favorite one (still the actual one) is Fixer/Doc. Everyone should not agree with that, but it's a good combo, i always play with a good RL friend, and quite often in the same room, or bein on phone, and it's really a good experience playin it.

What i mean is that fixer have not so awfull damage, and are quite good at soloing. Combination of Fixers Hots and my heals makes your lil group almost not killable. In case of adds, fixer snares/root and we go back a few, taking them one after the other. I think this team can (perhaps taking time, but they can) handle almost all situations.

This duo comes with a cool thing too, i mean GA Fixers are evading quite a lot, so they can't tank and let you do your nano business quietly. The fact we have taunting init debuffs allows you to shortly take aggro, to allow the fixer to get his nano back, and he/she will naturrally take back aggro droppin an area snare and a lil burst. We had some nights playing like kids trying to steel aggro to the other as often as possible. By the more, when GA fixers are hitted they suffer a lot, cause their ACs are quite low, and you can heal them good, or even CH them, without being too worried about recharge time, as in Full Def, It's quite uncommon to see a fixer being hitted each shot. And you can even take back aggro with your init debuff thingy to save the fix that will shortly save you back

There are a lot of other advantages to duo with a fixer being a doc... We could discuss about having fixer grid everytime (going to tower or named raids in a record time in case of healing needs is priceless), or about having speed buffs everytime, having all chests opened, imps cleared and so much... BUT my advice is that the greatest advantage of this duo is the ability of the fixer to Insta Grid the team at any moment. I think docs and tanks are the ones to choose wether a team must evac or not. And being with a fixer (and even more having him/her in the same room or on phone) allow you to ask fixer an emergency evac of the team, saving a lot of peep, and safer than run away from mobs trying not to loose theses 150 remaining HPs... Nearly like having yourself an insta casted team grid

Okies that's the sharing of my lil experience of duos, i'm not sure it's the best one, but it's quite funny (IMHO).

Have fun duoing wathever prof with your fiancee.
