AO players all over the world - on a map!

This is a spin-off of ElBoogy's "Have you met other players in RL?" thread.

AO players

*EDIT*: since we've had trouble with vandalism I've removed public editing privileges. You can send me (or anyone else with editing privileges) a PM with your e-mail address, and I'll give you editing privileges ASAP. Alternatively, make a post in the thread with your home town and I'll add you when I get around to it.

HOWTO for when you have received editing privileges:

1. Activate Edit mode in the sidebar to your left.

2. Pick the "add a placemark" thing on the upper left corner of the map.

3. Place it in your home town.

4. Write your forum name in the Title, and optionally add some alt names in the Description.

5. Click the Done button - it's replaced the Edit button you clicked earlier.

I would recommend against actually picking an exact location such as street or even house, just place it in your home town somewhere around the center and peoples can bugger you on the forums if they're going to be visiting a place near you. :)

Fun :) though I had some trouble getting it to work O.o whenever I just clicked the "add a marker" button it did weird things. Rightclicking a location and selecting "add a marker" worked just fine.

I'm retarded.

I tried to rename the placemark thingy for Galway, but the goggles did nothing.

Then I tried to add one manually and it just said "Placemark 22" straight away. Now I can't even rename or remove any of the two.

I fail at google maps.

edit: Still failing. I'll try again in a bit, when I'm on my own PC again.

Would be great, if somebody could remove the failed markers, please.

OK, really people. Someone goes through the trouble of making the map as a group project, and someone REALLY feels the need to mess with it that way? Could we grow up a little bit? Other people are obviously enjoying it, can we take a break from the juvenile antics for a while and not screw things up for someone else just to be a jerk?

There's some sad peoples out there who thought it'd be fun to shuffle the locations around some.. which means I'm going to have to restrict editing privileges.

You can get editing privileges by PM'ing me your e-mail address on the forums, and I'll add you to the list of collaborators. After you are a collab, you can invite others yourself too.

Alternatively (if you're not willing to PM your mail address), post your location in this thread and I'll do my best to add it ASAP.

Meanwhile here's a list of markers I've had to remove because someone screwed with them:

- Omegahealer
- Colawren: replaced
- Colawrenn: replaced
- Mastablasta: replaced
- Mekh: replaced
- Vhab
- Ukblizzard & Uragon: replaced
- EDTA
- Jenshae3: replaced

Apparently the vandal removed a few names too. One of the victims was crattey, but there might have been others.

With an attitude like that, being a forums mod must be a neverending stream of dissapointment, lol.

I generally expect everyone to behave like a total dick on the interwebs, and am pleasantly surprised when they don't. A far better approach, I reckon.
