I tried promoting this competition in my orgs too..
1) whenever I mentioned the competition, someone said "huh?" or "O.o", not knowing there were a competition, and as it only ran a month, I am sure there are a lot out there not aware of the competition.
2) when I explained the competition rules, several were confused by the fact that the rules are not written in the first post, but that you have to read the whole thread for extra-rules.. (1 screenshot per person per category, not per toon/account)
I would not be surprised if some did not read the update on 1 entry per category per person and send in per toon/account.
Leading to one of two situations:
Those who submitted several per person have all there entries annulled-meaning that the judges has to check each and every (potentially wining) entry what account they are from, and who owns the account and where they are living.
or that the work with checking account owners are not done, and those sticking to the rules of one submission per person are statistically screwed, as others have more submissions.
With the 1 per category per person limitation I offered my help to others, brainstorming ideas, trying to get others into online photography.
As in the real world you need a photographer, a model and a scenery/background.
yet again the rules are tripping legs:
Meaning that you _have_ to dual log multiple accounts of your own as eg. a screenshot of a raid or a friend of yours modelling for you would be other's work, not totally your own.
You are not allowed to get ideas and tips from others..
That is at least an interpretation that someone gave to me as a reason to not submit anything.
Famine I encourage you to avoid such dilemmas in the future, because I bet there are a lot of nice screenshots out there not submitted, as people got confused by the rules.
If you do a Christmas screenshot competition, you are very welcomed to make a post first, asking the community what they think would be fair rules, also which clarifications there needs to be for legal reasons.
(I think 1 entry per category per paid account would be easier to manage, rather than as it is in this competition, you have to check the name and address of the account owners)
I love the screenshot competitions, they are a nice community "social arrangement", but the rules seems to hinder people from submitting.
Kind regards
Ariensky
PS. Who are the judges?
and what is the percentage of female judges in the panel?
PPS. I got no replies to my "WTH male model for 1-1½ hour PST with payment details" only O.o in the trade channel.
But hopefully it sparked an interest in the competition :)
(the question remains though, if it would have been legal to use a model like that, if it would still be my own work then?)
Omg i won!
This means that you can't steal another persons already completed screenshot and send it in as your own. It's really that simple and nothing more other than that unless for some reason it signifies stealing of someone elses work. Don't make things complicated :DQuote:
All entries must include statement in the body of the email that states that your entry is your own work and no one else's and that you understand that Funcom may use it for promotional advertising.
We'll review over the submissions and give out notice when the submissions have been chosen.
Cheers!
P.S
No one has won yet pssh.
has ants in pants
Anyone else just recieved their notification email ?
Im at work so no.
btw, since i dont really care about winning not that i think my screenshot will.
So I thought i should post my "screenshot".
Did it in like two hours but could not get the material i required for my first ide.
And i did not have time to sitt and fiddle, next time gadget next time!
Wanted it to look like a comic strip, just did not have the time =/
I am impressed, very nice indeed.
How do you make the lightning look so 3D, going around the body?
is it 3D, or just a plane lightning, that you run over and under the layer of the toon?
Indeed well done, in only 2 hours I must say.
Way better than the last winner of edited screenshot competition.
Kind Regards

It was one per person only, not one per person per category i think.
This is from the first post:
If that does not spell 1 entry per category per person, along with
As I read it, the question, goes on per category.
Plus I mentioned 1 entry per category per person in my last post..
If I am wrong, the communication about rules has been really bad indeed.
Comi, I can only agree with you, as I have put before, that the rules need to be very clear the next time they run a competition like this.
When we can have a debate like this, being confused about the rules, interpreting, quoting to see the truth, then the rules indeed needs to be clearer, there should be no doubt about the rules, as doubt about the rules, only will give those who are lucky enough to have the right interpretation an advantage.
I am as worried as you, that I have the wrong interpretation..
For me it means disqualifying.. on the other hand, if I am right, you missed a chance to wining.
But all in all, I am sure Famine and the Community Managers have learned :)
Clear rules from the start.
Kind Regards
