Xan Armor Upgrades

As of right now, the armor that beast drops isn't worth much. It looks hella nice, and some pieces are actually used for armor and twinking, but otherwise it's not the best armor to have.

Which is why I purpose adding Xan Armor Upgrades to the loot tables of the LoX instances. They'd give decent upgrades to the stats that the armor grants, and give them that sexy blue and black look that the xan weapons have :D

Yes if you must know everything I said but the blue and black look was sort of just filler. I want a burden with blue instead of red :/

I like the idea, I think AI armor should still be the maximum beneficial armor, whilst maybe the shoulderplates of sabotage could be something to consider instead of IGoCs. "Xan shoulderplates of pandemonium" perhaps.
It could even be taken further.
Shoulderplates of sabotage + Path of Light/Path of Darkness = Faithful/Chosen Shoulderplates of Sabotage
- Makes req of clan or omni.

F/C Shoulderplates of Sabotage + Star of 'X' = F/C Shoulderplates of 'X'
- Adds the top two stats of star, onto the shoulderpads but reduces by 1/3.
- Enforcer gains the 2hb boost aswell as 1hb boost.
- Adv gains pistol/MR 1he/MM
- Engineer pads would need revising
- Trader recieves Psy Mod instead of EE
- Crat duck exp instead of nano pool (?)
- MP recieves NR instead of MM/intel (which?)
- Doc BM replaces treatment.

Chosen/faithful shoulderplates of 'X' + Source of The Xan (new item) = Xan Shoulderplates of 'X'
- Adds profession specific boosts. No further AAO/AAD/AR to any of them however. Evades may be added (?)

Really liking those ideas. I'd personally like to see the beast armor become more useful instead of just something that is considered junk, and like, 3 of the parts are worth something just cause of the looks.

I could see Source of the Xan come from LoX if they decide to allow the SB stones to upgrade the armor, probably make it a 12-man exclusive item, since you're actually fighting Xan there.

Im in total agreement with you there, making it useful. Make it worth its pricetag :)
Also on a wide-ranging topic; making armor like beast armor more useful - makes less cookie cutter equips at tl7, and possibly other Tls if other armors got a boost/way to make them more viable. Actually not just viable - but competitive.

I was thinking 12 man too for source of the Xan, but also my second thought was that depending on how good the end result armor would be - pieces could be collected as part of a questline from the different LoX areas (extra AXP reward!).
Im not a good judge of whats too much in some cases, but i myself would be prepared to go through all that to get some great gear.

More alternatives would really be nice. Not really the new top armor, but some pieces might have better stats on something than AI/Ofab pieces, while being worse at other stats.

Upgrading pieces with SL only stuff might make it nice, without everyone needing to run the Xan for yet another, likely low-chance drop. Just don't forget the Neutrals with the upgrades =P

Also, Black and Blue Beast armor could also look good I believe.

I am liking the ideas.
Of course don't give the armor too big of stats. And clan/omni/prof specific skins.
Making it so that not everyone wears the same looks.

An alternative to ofab armor/db armor. (maybe less powerful than ofab)

I see a slight problem with people wearing Xan armor on top of their Xan implants and their Xan belt and Xan NCUs while toting around their Xan weapon(s)...

We need a hell of a lot more armor choices in this game that give benefits in different ways, instead of blanket stats and God-armorsa and one-final-option sets.

Thats true, so you'd be wanting to see this armor take a different route? I could like that idea.
Things like extra % resistances? Or Maybe armor which on face value looks pretty crap, but maybe has procs / can "use" the item once every X seconds for a buff.
Outside the box thinking needed! :)

Would be easy to just have beast armor upgradable with the profession stars from 12m or a similar tradeskill process as the profession nanodeck.

How about we stop forcing people to farm old content to get new items and just make the new items drop in the new content?

While i agree there should be more viable armor choices, i dont think it should be at endgame, but more at low/midlevel.

as long it doesn't over powers the combined armors, i'll support this. we don't need MORE OP stuff.

and in any case, i'll support the VISUAL upgrade > black & blue beast armor like xan weapons = YES ! please.

about BoC i don't really care, i have one on all my chars, but i don't wear it, too uggly, and these days it don't even means anything (no more uberness !), but about the rest of the armor... oh yeah...
