MP Wishlist: Creation Arrows

Okay, over the last long week with a lot of downtime with my laptop I thought up some nice new MP bow ideas of my own. Mine is actually a Bow special attack weapon with creation arrows for a special attack. Note that I don't really care about the bow's stats. Its just an example of something to fire the arrows from. ;)

Its a fast firing recharging bow because you reload after every shot. The bow is obviously meant as a complimentary damage source and not a main one. The main advantage to it are the special creation arrows it fires. These arrows debuff ACs making the target much more vulnerable to nuke damage.

I would actually use this for raids. -AC helps a heck of a lot when downing big uniques....me like =)

Now who wants to design a decent bow for them?
I've only used them on my Crat and he's retired pending a parry fix for bows.

<- never used a bow....Psiraven is a bow advocate though...maybe she'll think of something.

So are the arrows ready to make it into the wishlist then?

I'm fine with the creation - special arrows. But I guess they would be usable with 'normal' bows too just like the other special arrows ...
The important thing I see with them is the duration of the debuff since casting an arrow needs to fit somehow in the evocation/nuke cycle.
EDIT: the ratio on the proposal is 1:5 (arrow/nuke) which is good in my eyes but it shouldn't get lower

For the PvP district I could imagine an arrow that has a small chance (10% ?) of clearing the targets NCU of all running buffs. This could add some specialty to MPs in tower battles.

I like this idea and there are a couple of creation bow wishlist entries that one might be able to add these arrows to somehow as an optional extra.

Let's see if we get a little more response on this over the next day or so then I'll add it to the list as is.

I've used bows before, but never Bow Spc Atk so I'm entirely sure on the specifics of it. I don't know if its easier to fire the arrows from all bows as a special attack or design a special bow for it. I KNOW I'd like the MP to have his own bow just for a unique look. It doesn't have to do any more or less damage.

The Bow Special skill is fairly straight-forward.

You need to have a bow equipped to use a special arrow and that bow must be a pure bow with Bow Skill as its main requirement (not rifle etc).

In order to use4 the special you need to meet the 'use' requirements on the arrow itself, which are usually Current Nano and Bow Special requirements.

To use the special arrow you simply right click on the stack (or allot the stack to a shortcut bar slot). The arrows need to be in your inventory to be used. Special Arrows are not loaded into the weapon in any conventional way. They are simply a stacked item that can only be used when you are wielding a suitable bow.

The arrows check against the defensive skill for the Bow in question (so usually dodge ranged).

The special arrow usually locks the Bow Special skill for a period of time.

It would be perfectly possible to have the arrows you describe simply be [nodrop] special arrows and allow MPs to use them with any bow capable of using special arrows. Indeed, the likelihood is high that the existing special arrows are due for updating as they are pretty much useless all in all and this is one of the elements that the MAs are chasing quite hard rigtht now.

Since both of the existing Creation Bow suggestions are pure bows with Bow as main requirement, there is no explicit reason why they might not be allowed to fire special arrows - even if this were limited to Creation Arrows.

Wait...a PURE bow? Thats a problem....then the bow won't have TS as an attack skill....thus you'll have the same craptastic NR as ever...this =not good.

The 'pure' creation bows already in the wishlist have 80% TS attack skills. There's no reason why they shouldn't work.

An idea that often comes up regarding usage of bows for MPs is the idea of summoning Creation Arrows with a nano that could be fired from a bow. This specific idea quotes a normal bow and some creation arrows that could be used with that bow. The bow here is designed with some specific elements that would be useful in using the arrows themselves.

Just throw in the arrows, and let people use it with whatever bow they want.

Its only that if this is used in conjunction with a creation bow then I think its justification to reduce the cast time even further.

I wanted to go back and revise this now that I know a lot more about bows. Removed the bow entirely as this is all about the special arrows now. Upped the damage as bow spc atk is sorely lacking in damage right now. PvP halfs it further so its not so valuable. MPs need specials though because our nukes aren't good enough to take an opponent down.

Bow Spc Atk reqs are based on current skill budget. It would be very nice to see a bunch of items buff that skill and in which case the reqs would need to go up.

Hopefully this can get updated on the wishlist.
