So because you're a high and mighty 220 engie, you don't want to make implants for anyone that don't request ql300 builds? And maybe those lowbies are just trying to be polite by waiting for you to say "hello" back when they say hi That is after all customary, and I'm sure if they said "hi could you make xxx" then you'd complain that they didn't say "hi" and wait for you to respond with "hello" ...

Its still the only way for very new player to connect to community right now. So why finding new tools if we can maybe have the old one working with some changes?
I wont suggest how to get rid of credit spammers or how to moderate OOC to delete "pron" or whatever - there are other people with pretty decent ideas so why not do something about it.
OOC is still first and only way for new player to get in contact with community, there is no other.

No, I'm not calling everyone that. Only those who feel hurt by it. And, if you feel it's not retarded to basically throw away everything the game is built on and then whine about it, then please tell me what you feel it is. I'm sure we both agree on people being retarded in this regard.
So you only call retards people that you know will be hurt if you call them that way? What kind of logic is that? I can only assume you like to hurt people for no reason.
And trust me, more than half of those that dont give a crap about how you call them are much more "retarded" than those that get offended.

What this game was built on is completely insignificant regarding on what player base wants it to be built on. And I have the feeling its something very different today than what it was or what you or I may want it to be. But they are majority.

No I'm not, I'm a rather optimistic person really. I'm only looking upon those retarded whiners who sit and do nothing but whine about this and that, when it's ALL THEIR OWN FAULT. Yes, their own fault. There is almost NOTHING to whine about if you would only stop being a retarded solo monkey and work towards a strong community. But, apparently everyone refuses that. It's how the game used to be, before zergbots made it possible for any old fool to just wander up and get endgame raids without any skill in social abilities, gameplay or otherwise.
Everyone's good enough to play it, as soon as they get over the initial hurdle of stupidity that makes them go MEMEMEMEMEME.

And no, I'm not. Because new players are 99% likely to be froobs, and as such the only thing they would ever see of me is helpful suggestions in chat channels as I try to guide them on their way out of newbie land.

So, when you and the rest of the community stop being hostile towards everyone because YOU fail at the game, then I will stop flaming you for being retarded. Until then, not a chance.
Quite honestly I am hostile because I am disappointed.
Do I fail in game? Probably by your standards or somebody elses. I dont have all endgame phats, I dont have big PvP epeen, I havent rolled doc, sol or any of I-win PvP button profs. I guess I fail.

But then there is that question what "winning" the game means to me. I came back to play with friends - simply that. No matter what and no matter what personal benefits I may get from that. Just to be with group of people I like and can laugh with.
But then I found out that too many of my friends are gone, replaced by people I dont like.
Yes, its all "memememe" attitude. I was gutted with that in WoW and I didnt remember AO players to have such mentality. Maybe its just me whining over "good old times", maybe AO community was never any different really. Cant say.

But I do think I remember correctly sitting at RBB and having fun in vicinity, with people I knew and people I didnt, later sometimes becoming friends (as far as friendship goes online). And no new player was excluded from chat, be it simply kidding around or serious discussions about game mechanics.

I passed through Rome when I got back, few times. Its empty. I walked by Subway, its empty. I rolled new toon to check what is new on newb island; chat empty most of the time.
Single place where I could find people was TG with random number of afking 220ies. Or SL with pockets and dualogged tagalongs.
BS terminal is place to bash other side or duel but I cant imagine any new player coming there and asking for advice on anything..... they cant even join the convos.

Ok, enough ranting. Yes, I am hostile because I am disappointed. I left great community of people and came back to bunch of spoiled selfish brats. Its only human to feel bitter.

They've gone to the wrong people, I help n00bs every time I end up on n00b island, & 1 n00b per day with at least some advise (more often a bag full of nanos, set of carb & a couple of sets of implants (including leavering them in))

Mind, I hope they didn't ask anyone for creds, that's guaranteed to get a tart response lol.

I have a 220 engi, I make most items gladly & freely, the only things I'll take money for are the big things, like AI armor, pushing implants to 300, VTEs, Stilletos & cloaks...

If I don't feel like doing stuff, I don't stand at the grid or on the hill where people will see me, I stand in a BackYard...

Yes high lvl players have more & more important worries than a lvl60 wanting some twink imps, but that doesn't mean they're not important to him, & it's not like just since I can tradeskill anything ingame without moving from the spot that I feel they're below me!

That's a crappy attitude & it makes all of us look bad, & quite frankly I don't want to be tarred with your brush!!!

So, so long as they're polite about it, I'll stop what I'm doing & make their imps, I mean, with my skills, it's not like it will take more than a min anyway to:

First use will be free. This will create a 48 hour lockout from using it again. Should you wish to use it again immediately instead of waiting the 48 hours it will have a cost of 20 million credits. This should be out in the next update.
This, to me completely defeats the purpose of perk resets. The lockout should be at least 72 hours, preferably more, with a progressively higher cost for circumventing the lockout sooner (that is, if you want to do it again immediately it'll be 50m, after a day 30m, after two days, 25m, after three days, free). 3-4 days of perk reset is still an enormous improvement over the weeks people spend in it, but is enough of a deterrent that it's still reserved for the harder twinkers.

This is why we ask for feedback on new game mechanics. Soldiers, quite rightly, feel it would be unfair for others to see when their TMS is next available. Knowing this is a significant issue for soldiers means that we can make it so that this specific timer-nano is not visible to others. When we can see that issues of this kind are addressed we can look forward to this new feature...and not before.
I'd rather not see this feature implemented. It's unnecessary and takes a lot of the entertaining and challenging guesswork out of various parts of the game, while doing nothing to prevent OSB problems.

I am in favor of a better new player experience than that. Since there'll be no end to fools who'll want to abuse that channel, even if we get rid of the creditspammers. Any channel open to anyone is likely to be spammed with all kinds of hate and abuse. It's what goes on on OOC anytime I open it. Then I flame some clueless noob till he shuts up with his crap and helps the guy who was wanting in the first place.

Based on the idea that if you realise that you're being an idiot, then you will change. What I write while semi-drunk and hostile at this community which has turned from one of fun into one of MEMEME, guess that's what comes with having a game that's not broken, now we're not all hugging eachother trying to get along with a hopelessly bugged and broken game for hardcore masochists.
Now we're playing a game that's changed towards all the things we really wanted 5 years ago. And it's made the people who cared sit around happily, or leave in the meantime, and the worst crybabies ever to see the light of day to inhabit the forum.

That makes no sense. If you make a game saying "this will be this kind of game, players can do this and that in it" you attract a group of people. Then, you suddenly have said group of people going "but we want it to be THIS way!", and you can only ask "but why, then, did you come here in the first place". The current answer from the community is "STFU and CHANGE IT SO IT'S LIKE WE WANT IT".
Community can have a lot of input on the game, surely. We all agree on that. However, the game that we are playing now, and have been for the past 7½ years, requires something from the players that they don't want to give, because of the ME WANT attitude.

The playerbase needs to realise that there's strength in numbers and having an org with 20+ people online is not a zerg and something to be ashamed of. It's a healthy community with a wide base of users to play with. I simply cannot see what is so horrible about having to be in an org that has more people than 5. Are you all so powerhungry that you're willing to sacrifice everything that's fun about MMOs just so you can say you're the president or general or whatever of some tiny little insignificant org? Quite sad if you ask me.

Oh and it does indeed matter what this game is, what it's based on and what it will continue to be based on; players working with other players. In large numbers. Not 2 or 3.

Obviously you have no idea what kind of player I am. I am nothing at all into the whole "memememe" thing which is what you appear to think. In fact, which I have also made quite clear in the past many years on this forum , I am the exact opposite. I don't mind at all sacrificing time or phats to help out others, which is what I find to be the fun and core of the game. Working with your friends, so that in the end you are all powerful, and stronger together. Not grind endless zergbots till I get whatever.
Note that I've played this game for longer and more than most people that are still around, so I have had the time to get all those phats and get the high pvp titles and see whatever. And I've not been rerolling to whatever flavour of the month profession was most popular at whatever time.
By fail at this game, and this type of game, I mean the complete disinterest in community building that is being shown by the whiners on this forum.

Did you try all 3 servers?

Did the devs try doing both freebie and 'all expansions' chars to see if the same big chars treated them differently?

As regarding asking on OOC for an org to join, a lot of orgs recruit ppl who are asking various questions and get to talk to them a bit but won't invite ppl who are actively looking for orgs on OOC.

Being a realist has nothing to do with being an optimist. There's no end of fools in this world, and flaming them is fun.

You do? Obviously you have no idea; forum wars is quite different from what goes on in the game. But then, being against the popular oppinion was never popular But someone has to be, and since noone else dares, I will just have to keep on doing it.

But then, who are you? The enemy? The guy who didn't give two cent about playing through the encounters in LoX with his friends, exploring and overcoming the challenges? The guy who just sits on forums whining in imagined selfrighteousness about the loot he most certainly deserved, but didn't get? The guy who ONLY cared about what was in it for him at the end, in terms of items and loot, not experiences with friends and challenges to overcome?

It's nice to see these new things coming and that you're willing to listen to us regarding changes to them. Although what about other things such as much of the LE content that people keep making new/repeat threads about (missions, BSs, VP gains and incomplete OFAB sets)? New stuff is important but going back to clean up older things is important too. So is there at least some chance of going back and looking at those LE related matters?

The point is, there is hardly a single profession that isn't affected by this in a similar way as soldiers. Evade professions would be at a disadvantage since their opponent could see when their evade perks will be down. For nts/traders it's their nano shields, for mps its sacrificial shield, for troxes it's mongo rage etc etc...

I see no good reason to put this ingame, and every reason not to...

i see only good reasons to put this in game.

as.. i know.. lord forbid... but this means (no.. not intended) people really will have to work together as teams. to watch out for their team mates. to pay attention to when a team member is at their weakest and help to make up for that.

and then the reverse of that, your team members are able to better know when a target has been debuffed with what and which attack method is best used to removed said target.

theres so many new ways of team work to occur with this change.. its like a ray of light that has finally poked through the grey clouds of "i'm a one man AS army!".
