Account Security and Theft Prevention
A notice to the citizens of Rubi-Ka! We hope that you will take some time to read an important message regarding account security.
There are many ways an account can be stolen. They are all easy to avoid, and can help you keep your account secure and out of the hands of others.
- It is never a good idea to share your account information. This is the most common form of account theft. If you believe your account has been stolen, and you have shared your information, change your account password immediately to attempt to prevent any damage to the account.
- A Funcom employee will never ask for your password. Anyone that approaches you claiming to be a Funcom Employee (GM or otherwise) which asks for your password is an imposter. These characters should be reported immediately, do not provide them your password.
- Gold and Leveling Sellers are the root of most account theft. By not supporting these websites, you reduce the amount of account theft that occurs as a result of their methods.
- Be aware of malicious websites, emails, and addons. These methods all employ key logging or request your password under the guise of being official Funcom products.
Some steps can be taken to prevent account theft from a software standpoint.
- Make sure your Funcom Account details are up to date!
- Make sure your computer operating system has the most recent suggested updates installed.
- Make sure your browser is up to date.
- Install anti-virus software to detect malicious software that may steal your information.
