It amazes me how short term memory affects people. I have said nothing about NANOprograms. The only thing I have said is that during character creation a reasonable person could assume engineers are a proffession that builds things more so than any other prof, just by the game description of the class. Which if memory serves me correctly, you have argued that traders should be the main builders in game because they have always had tradeskill buffs. (unless I misunderstood your points) My point revolves 100% around character creation for a new player in that someone new to AO would not choose traders if they wanted to tradeskill based on the character description. A point that any REASONABLE person "could" agree with.
I am not involved in the using skills vs nanoprograms debate because it doesn't matter what any of us think about it. It's not up to us to program those changes in game.
So pretty please with sugar on top, in the future if you plan to comment on my posts actually pay attention to what is being written before you attempt to get into a battle of wits with me unarmed.

You're talking about making and building robots. Nanos are what are used to make and build robots currently. "Reasonable" people would be able to read requirements on the programs and connect the dots to reach the point. Sorry I had to spell things out for you.. yet again.

Again I have said nothing about nanoskills or nano casting. The ONLY thing I have refered to... more than once is that the character description of engineer vs character description of traders during character creation suggests that engineers are builders more so than traders. Even the proffession name suggests it.
Sorry you want to drag me into a different topic.

Again, the character selection screen says nothing about tradeskilling. As for profession names, bureaucrats should sit in an office doing nothing all day, keepers should wear big gloves and stand in front of netted boxes, and soldiers should be cleaning toilets with tooth brushes. Any more fuzzy logic in your storehouse?

Quote the thing then. I dont have AO installed on this computer :P
Psikie's opinion is perfectly valid. I have always viewed traders as secondary when it comes to tradeskilling. I always thought engineers had it cheaper, or perhaps they just have more green skills? Engineering implies some sort of assembly, but I suppose "trader" implies tradeskills (although they are crafting skills, only comp lit and psychology are really tradeskills). Im pretty sure engineers have more tradeskill perks than traders, and small items like pest armor and subway sleeves are engineer only. Having access to +tradeskill nanos doesnt imply that traders are superior. Enforcers have always had more 1he buffing than advs, but I consider advs the master of 1he rather than enfos. It's also possible that traders got buffs to put them on par with engis.
Point is, he's provided valid points for his opinions, and noone has really refuted them.

For sake of completeness of the thread I present you...
http://anarchyonline.wikia.com/wiki/Engineer
An Engineer is a specialist in creating all sorts of machinery. Engineers really excel in constructing powerful battledroids and have access to unique nanotechnology to enhance and repair them. The Engineer's weapon skills are not that great, but the Engineer/robot-pet duo is quite formidable. All Engineers learn to create powerful protective shields and the best Engineers can hack into satellites, and use them to teleport any member of the team to the Engineer's location.

Trader is the ultimate entrepreneur, getting more for less in every single transaction. Like others, they create and trade material goods. But in combat situations, they use unique nanotechnology which enables them to drain opponents of skills, energy and health, transfering those benefits to themselves or their allies. This frequently causes the most formidable opponents to wither to a cracked shell of their former self.
To a new player one sounds like a builder the other a banker :/

If an engi and trader both maxed tradeskills, a trader would have 300k more IP. The big expense is mostly due to psychology, a dark blue skill for engis but a normal skill for traders. Without a single IP into psychology, engineers are 300k cheaper. Note: Engineers have higher base comp lit than traders, by about 150 points. Traders have a higher pharm base by the same amount. Everything else is even.
Engineers and traders share every single group tradeskill line, both SL and AI. The only difference in tradeskill perks are the engineer Gadgeteer and Mechanic lines, which after dumping 20 perks into will give you a whopping 135 more skills to ME/EE/QFT and 200 WS. I will concede that after SL the focus shifted primarily onto the engineer for tradeskills.
As for itemization, if subway sleeves are the proof that engis are indeed the master tradeskill class.. we'll just disregard crackerjack sleeves, focus funneling devices, problem solving devices, repair coordination assistants, spiritech toolboxes, as well as ofab and tier armors, all of which either have no profession requirement or include traders (and fixers!).

But... but... I *like* my magic sleeves! They're Engie only! It means I'm *special*!
I'm a Froob Neutral Trade Skilling Nanomage Engineer- by definition I hide round corners and let the bot do the fighting.
Hilarious argument here.
If i remember back to the days when I was knew, I thought traders would be experts at trading (i.e. buying and selling) whereas engis experts and building things.
Anyway who cares?

The misinformation simply needs to be changed, rather than allowing it to exist and continue to confuse noobs.
