    Just so you guys know I'm going to attempt migrating the server over to Bukkit (http://bukkit.org/) this weekend - This will give us a LOT more interesting stuff to work with plugin-wise, and should just be a bit more reliable in general than the old, depreciated hMod. I'll let you guys know more about what I'm doing there as I actually get around to doing it, but it should be good stuff. =)

    Nice!

    A bit of a heads up though, NV mentioned there are issues with the new Minecraft Mania (1.4, as 1.5 depends on a newer version of Bukkit than Multiplay uses).
    So best not to enable that one.

    Will be awesome to have warp gates again instead of /warp

    Multiplay is still on Bukkit 556, with Minecart Mania 1.04 installed, so it should be good to go. =)

    I heard something about 1.4 causing server crashes on large railroads.
    It seems to be related to a bug in Bukkit actually which isn't fixed until a later revision.
    Will have to keep an eye out to see if the server turns unstable.

    I have a 'feature request' for the other builders.

    Iriche and me have been boating it up lately, and it's quite a fun way to explore.
    Unfortunately we're often blocked by bridges directly above sea level.

    It would be nice if all bridges constructed over water leave enough room for boats to pass under them (2 blocks high).


    On related note, Waldgeist: would you mind if I redo the railroad base heading W from the station (there's no tracks on it yet even)?
    Push it up 2 or 3 blocks for boats.

    I'm also considering making a station for Iriche and me, but not entirely sure on the details yet.


    Speaking of railroads, I noticed how Wald's design works entirely without needing cartmania, which is awesome.

    I'm thinking, how do we want to deal with multiple stations on that route?
    Just make each station a stop and chain the stations after each other?

    Users would be required to get into a new cart at each station.
    Or does anyone know any good mechanics to allow users to either continue or stop at a station?

    On the plus side, with the first method, carts put into the system will always be at only 1 of 2 stations, probably easier to rebalance later when 1 station runs out of carts.

    I know for a fact that craftbook allows for "station blocks" to be placed under the track that give the user the option of either stopping or continuing. I believe Minecart Mania has a similar feature.

    It's possible without plugins as well, but there is some limitations I guess.
    This are the options I can think of atm:

    * You can select your final destination in the station you start. This requires you put a lot of redstone along with the tracks ( 1 redstone track for every destination) OR you put extra rails (1 rail for every destination OR some combination of both .

    * You can stop in every station and chose to step out or go on.
    - You push a button to go on.
    OR
    - You automatically go on after a few sec if you didn't step out.

    You could make some pretty complex redstone circuits to choose your destination/switch tracks, however there are some limitations. I believe that there is a hard limit of 300 blocks from any player for a redstone signal to travel no matter how many repeaters or whatever you have. Once the signal gets 300 blocks away and into a dormant chunk, it goes dead. This may no longer be the case but it was back in alpha at least.

    That sounds good.
    Will need to route the cart depending on whether it's empty or not though.
    Could end up being lag sensitive and/or cart speed sensitive on SMP, I think.

    Though, considering carts could end up at an end station and go quite out of balance.
    Maybe just stick to requiring users to get out at each station and just hop into the next cart.

    I really like what has been done to the server so far, I like the train station, however it's track goes completely infront of mah docks. Someone make a bridge so boats from the dock on the main island can leave the harbor

    I have nearly completed 7km of road. If you want to rebuild it 1 block higher, feel free. Of course, raising the road will cause problems when it reaches my city. So you'd have to raise my city 1 block higher. I'm sorry, but you're going to have just accept my construction as it is. But then most of the bodies of water I've built across haven't been large enough to boat on.
