During our last recruitment drive we lowered the level requirement to lvl 20, that is NO LONGER in effect. You need to be lvl 35 to apply. Mercury Dragons Command Staff is discussing on raising the requirement to lvl 50 and lower it to 35 during recruitment drives (decision has not been made yet).

Only serious gamers/roleplayers should apply, it is hard for casual players to be in the clan, due to events/meetings and the happenings (events) in the clan which are mostly planned and partly improvised or dropped on our laps by our friends, allies and sometimes our enemies.

This is a strictly military clan, it requires maturity and responsablility even at the rank of Private. You may be called at any time to perform a mission/operation or assist a mercury dragon or a member of the Alus Alliance (which our clan founded, currently has 11 allied clans).

We are one of the oldest clans around, and among the most respected due to the fact we take our position seriously (our clan is run by roleplayers, and it is required you be a roleplayer to join).

The Cmdr has pretty much said everything that needs to be said, but i'd like to add for people that maybe a little undecided...

Just because we say were "serious" roleplayers doesnt mean we take life too seriously. It just means we take the roleplaying seriously and try to stay in character at all times. Even when IC half of us are still comedians.

Ok onto blatant (but totally honest) MD fluffing:

Since joining the Dragons ive had the most fun possible on Rubi Ka i think. Ive been looked after really well and in return ive done my best to help everyone else.
The feeling of family is definately strong in the Dragons and im loving it.
And with constant RP events happening within and around the MD, youre sure to have fun if ya like to be involved in them.

I share the same feelings as Sambika. Being in MD has been the best experience for me out of AO. I may warn that you should show serious dedication to role playing (and note like Sambika said, serious dedication doesn't mean no humor fun or enjoyment, just act your role). Before then, I had never seriously role-played any game in my life. However, Role-Playing became second nature with me, and likewise other MD's. It became second nature because of the atmosphere. Always a member willing to help a hand, to share a story, or even have a drink. Just because it's a military based structure doesn't mean the Command Staff doesn't listen to what you say. The Command Staff helps shape MD for the better by listening to us. I see Anarchy Online as a game based around Role-Playing, and to deny role playing with this game I think you are missing a great part of it. To improve Role-Playing, well just makes the game that more enoyable. If you do role-play or wish to, I think Mercury Dragons can help improve your experience a lot.

I recall the time before I was a dragon. I spent my days wandering the streets of cities, exploring the vast beauty of RK, and talking to people and sharing experiences.

However, I lacked a tight group to always be around. I Wanted a guild. I tried one, but it was loosely structured and I didn't get to know anyone. I was in the early stages of forming one when I spoke with Commander Windguard who convinced me to join the Mercury Dragons.

I originally felt nervous joining a guild who in my eye was so well renowned. I settled in, was wlecomed with enthusiasm, and now can not imagine being in another guild or without my fellow MDs.

Recon Report - SOM/Omni Forset

From: Pvt Cellestron, Delta Platoon

To: Lt. Kozack, Command Staff

Subject: Recon report for Steps of Madness, Omni Forest


Following is a summary of operation undertaken to conduct recon in Omni Forest as well as the area known as the "Steps of Madness". Participants were Pvt Cellestron and Pvt Sambika operating ICW Strike Team Omega-2, Blade Corp(neutral) Special Forces. Additional participants included a group of untrained "observers" from The Free Assembly.
Assembly point was oustide of Omni-Entertainment. Travel to assembly point was completed with only one death(mine). Lesson learned here was be able to run REAL fast, or fly.
Group assembled at entrance to Steps of Madness. Entrance to cavern is through a giant "eyeball". To gain entry, you must manipulate the object as if it were a grid terminal [OOC - Right click on it]. Area consist of numerous interconnecting caverns that are very large. There are several "unique" occurences in these caverns......strange lights, remains of mythical beasts and unnatural fires/flame.
Resistance encountered at first was light, but soon several "creatures" began to appear. At lvl 66, all save 1 of these creatures were "grey" status. DO NOT LET THIS FOOL YOU. The creatures proved to be very resilient to damage, often taking a full team to bring one down. These creatures also have the ability to apply "stun" nano's as well as a strange attack nano that does radiation damage and seriously distorts vision.
at the end of the caverns, there is a platform which houses a creature known as "neleb". This creature posess a robe that would be of interest to anyone who utilizeses nanoformulas on a large scale(NT, MP, eng).
Several other unique items were discovered as well...."loving Hands"(a set of gloves for Doctors), "Brutal Hands"(a set of gloves for Enforcers). Pvt Sambika will provide more information on other unique items(including some strange blades).
Casualties were fairly light until we attempted to leave. Most of the Strike Team had left when Pvt Sambika and myself attempted to get out. Our way was blocked and we were forced to retreat to the platformed room. Other people in this room attempted to help us but too late....Pvt Sambika died at my side, literally 2 seconds away from my first aid. Her bravery was duly noted by all present. As more people in the platform room took notice, the creatures were finally dispatched and I was left alone to recover.
I was finally able to leave and conduct a quick recon of Omni forset. Nothing of note was discovered, however I did obtain shots of various structures, which will be Forthcoming.

Official Report: Dragons Raid on OT Supplies

Im not well versed in how Official Military Reports are written so forgive me if this is innacurate... Im still learning this aspect

18 May, 29476

Late in the afternoon Pvt Cellestron recieved an anonymous tip that an Omni-Tek supply shipment would be making a stop at the small Outpost near the Pleasant Meadows ferry.
After he reported this to myself and Pvt Kzak, we decided to take action ourselves, as no Command Staff were present to oversee the operation. Also the informant hinted that the convoy would not stick around too long...

We quickly prepared ourselves at Harry's Resort, enhancing our defenses as much as possible as we werent sure how heavily defended the supplies would be.
I crossed the Ferry first and saw the convoy and its escort close by. It looked to be preparing for departure so we knew we had to hurry. After a quick recon we grouped together and decided a full frontal attack would be the best option, hoping to use the surprise to get a major advantage.

We quickly took down a Corporal and two Guards before the rest of the camp and escort was alerted to our presence.
A viscious battle occured as we fought our way towards the supplies, striking down the surprised and disorganised Guards and T-60s as we went.

I managed to have a quick look for useful equipment amongst the shipment before Pvt Cellestron reported that reinforcements, in the shape of Slayer-Droids and Ninja-Droids, was entering the camp. Realising that our small force would stand no chance against such heavy opposition we grabbed what supplies we could and retreated.

A quick tally of the bodies suggested we had sent 3 Corporals and at least 12 Privates back to an Omni Reclaim, while the cargo we had seized included 8 heavy Battle Suits. Perfect to aid in the fund raising for the Athen Project, once they can be sold.

For such a hastily arranged raid and the small strike force involved, we considered it to be a total success. Hopefully the attack on the shipment will be a setback for Omni-Tek, along with the temporary deaths of some of their Officers. But mainly because of the Battle Suit shipment we managed to escape with.

Story of the Clowns

Greetings fellow MDs.

Some of you might have heard Lt. Darktidexxx and myself making fun of each other. Calling each other "clown" or "goober" really has a deeper meaning )
When we pull jokes like "Hey Lt. Did you bring the red nose?" or "Capt, can u buff me 'Clown Shoes' buff that adds +180 to runspeed?" .... then its all related to an event that happened some time ago outside Avalon.

Lt. Darktidexxx, myself and some other fellow claners where about to go hunt ninjas. (I believe Docnecro was there too). We were just about to hit the right are when "someone" noticed there was a vulture close by. As the puller of the team I ran right at the vulture and started brawling like a madman. We were lucky and killed it... but there were other vultures near by......I started going low on heallh when I was attacked by another vulture. I started running around from here to there to get rid of the one on my back, when I pulled another 5 or 6 vultures (may be more, or what Darktide?). Our doc, adventurer and myself where healing like crazy... fighting all vultures at the same time! Lt. Darktidexxx called this a "Clown Pull" .... and I was the "Clown". We all died and got ressurected some place in Avalon. That was the beginning of the "Story of the Clowns" the way I remember it.

Moments like these are to be remembered, so we can look back on our days as newbies who tried gain some experience in all kinds of non-efficient ways

Foreword

Greetings, Player. Or rather, Role-player, for that is truly what this game is about. With that in mind, I shall speak to you now, for a moment, as the person behind the mask, the _Player_ of Windguaerd, Commander of the Mercury Dragons, whose task it is, among many others, to create both the form and the content of this document. As such, I have spent much time thinking about the Mercury Dragons, our purpose, and how to properly confer to both you, the reader, and you, the character, what our fine clan is really about. It is thus that I have decided to begin the Charter in this fashion. For you see, Player, there is no way for me to explain without going against the very concepts we stand for. The Mercury Dragons is about Role-playing. That is the very heart and soul of our Clan, yet, if I were to try to explain this concept to you as a character I would violate the very principal that guides our clan; for no properly role-played character in Rubi-Ka could ever hope to understand the concept of "role-playing". Not only is role-playing the focus of our clan, but also to teach, promote and encourage the practice of role-playing to all the players, newcomer and veteran, of Anarchy Online. This theme will pervade all that you read about our clan that is "In Character". If we are to be an in-character organization of the highest order, we must have our rules be as in-character as possible, which all other parts of this document are. If the situation becomes absolutely necessary, in this or other documents, where IC must be supplemented with OOC, brackets [] will be used to delineate the out of character portions. With that introduction, I invite you to reassume the persona of your character and continue reading the rest of this Charter, and remember to look on things as a player and as to how they apply to our dedication to role-playing.

Introduction

During the early years of the war many children were confused and clan parents had a difficult time explaining to their children about the war, and why it was fought. An elder clanner came up with a solution so that the explanation would not be such a shock to the young, he wrote a story which explained in a very imaginative way the war, I was one of the first children to hear such a story...


"Papa...why are we fighting those omni guys?"
"Sit son, and listen, I will tell you why"
"Not long ago we were all one people, free and happy, we worked together, we played together and we were all friends. But one day a big Grey Dragon come from above...many people got scared, but the dragon spoke!"
"He spoke papa!"
"Yes son, he spoke of promises of happiness and a better future for all of us, many of us believed him, and we did as he told us every day. It took a bit of time to see that the dragon had lied, he did not bring happiness, he brought sadness, he took our freedom because he was big and powerful, we were slaves son, slaves of an evil dragon, his name is Omni-Tek"
"And those omni guys are with him papa?"
"Yes, they are those who still believe the lies the dragon told, they are blind to the truth, some even know the dragon is evil and still follow and obey the dragon, they are bad people, bad people that want to hurt us all, so always stay away from the omni son, do you understand?"
"Yes sir"
"Want to hear the rest of the story?"
"Yes yes!"
"Alright, as we started to learn that we were lied to, the dragon noticed that we complained and stopped listening to him, he got very angry and started to attack the people who had stopped believing him, many innocent people fell son, it was a sad day, it was the first day of the war against the evil dragon"
"Aww, but can't we all attack the bad dragon and stop him?"
"It's not so easy, when we were his slaves he made us make big cities, with strong walls, it is not easy to break the walls to go in and see if the dragon is in one of the big omni cities, there is a lot of room to hide in any of them...we did a good job making the cities and the walls, too good"
"Oh"
"We keep fighting the dragon and the omni because we like to be free and happy, and safe. We dreamed of one day a shining Mercury Dragon to come from above and save us, a dream we made real by making clans"
"I'm confused papa, the mercury dragon is in a clan?"
"No son, the clans are the Mercury Dragon, we stand together as one people against the evil Omni-Tek dragon, that is why we make clans, the more people you're with, the safer you are son"
"Oh...that is why we are clan? because we are together...like a family?"
"Yes, we are like family, we look out for one another like I look out for you son, and the way you will look out for your child when you're a grown up"
"Oh!"
"Now it's time for you to sleep son, good night and have pleasant dreams"

"As long as there is hope, our dragon will live son, and we will continue to fight the evil dragon"

As I grew up I knew the dragons weren't real, but the ideal of the Mercury Dragon was real, we are clan, we are freedom, we are family, and all it stands between us and a bright free future is the Omni-Tek "dragon"...they have no regard for life, all they care for is profits, I also learned that the author of the story was found by omni personnel and executed for treason...a good man trying to bring peace to children's minds was killed because he had helped the clan...the war continues, and so will we..."As long as there is hope, our dragon will live"...and it shall be, I formed The Mercury Dragons Clan in memory of two good men, the author of the story and my father, may both rest in peace.

Overview of Goals

The Mercury Dragons Clan is an organization dedicated to aiding and enriching the world of Rubi-Ka through their actions as adventurers and defenders of Freedom. The Mercury Dragons seek to protect Rubi-Ka and its clan citizens by driving off the villains who might bring terror to our lands, ridding the world of the wicked and evil beasts that roam freely and aid and protect the weak and troubled when they fall victim to the powers of the wild.

The Clan also seeks to enlighten and guide the adventuring clan populace of Rubi-Ka, both in the proper etiquette, the ways of Good, and pass on the knowledge that comes from our combined experience, through lectures, books, publications, and friendship. [as well as the concepts of good role-playing].

Lastly, we seek to promote friendship and goodwill among our fellow clan citizens by providing a Clan that they can join and thus find acceptance and companionship as well as aid and teaching. The Mercury Dragons exist as a group of like-minded freedom fighters, dedicated to the betterment of Rubi-Ka, accomplishing this goal in fellowship with one another.

Organizational Structure

The Clan is organized internally in three different ways with a variety of Ranks and Departments that help the Mercury Dragons as a whole function in an efficient and effective manner. The two ranks are distinct from the Departments, in that Ranks are meant to honor those who uphold our goals and promote our ideals and have leadership skills, whereas the Departments are best filled by those who are good at organization, diplomacy and non-combative skills.

The ranks are as follows:

Officers. This is the rank of the most trusted, honorable, and faithful, as well as moral, leaders of the Mercury Dragons. They are leaders by this rank due to the respect they command [and role-playing]).

Unit Members. Newly initiated Mercury Dragons and the average member who contributes to the clan and follows the bylaws.

Departments. Those members whose heart are with our clan, and have volunteered to join a Department to help in the administration of our clan but do not hold Officers ranks.

There are is also a unit within the Mercury Dragons known as "Dragon's Watch" which is organized for the purpose of the carrying out of a certain specific group of tasks which are dedicated towards the achievement of our goals involving military force, such as the defeat of any major threats and banishment of the dangerous creatures that inhabit the wild.

The Running of the Clan

So that we may maintaining the clan, it is necessary to hold general meetings of the entire clan at least twice a month, and attendance to one of them is high recommended (not mandatory, but failure to attend 4 of these meetings will put your position at risk). If a person cannot attend a meeting, a request for exemption must be made before the meeting. The Command Staff meets on a regular basis and decides on what actions are to be taken by the Clan and handles any issues that arise. The various Departments within the clan also hold regular meetings. Clan hosted events are planned by Command Staff and can include lectures on a popular (or obscure) topic, gatherings to share stories, or trips into the wilds to drive out the wild creatures and collect funds for our treasury (military events are currently classified information). Fines collected from those who infringe upon the codes and rules, which are enforced with an even hand by the Command Staff, also bolster the treasury.

What type of Clan are you?

This is a Military Clan, it is organized currently into 3 Platoons, Alpha Platoon [Level 75+], Delta Platoon [Under Level 75] and Dragon's Watch Platoon [Level 120+ Spec Ops], all under the the leadership of Command Staff. All Officers have duties and assignments.

Are you going to be the best Clan?

Our goal is not to be "elite", be the best, glory or fame, our goal is to do our best to inform and train our troops so they in turn do their best in the efforts to keep our freedom and gain the independance we seek from Omni-Tek.

Do you need to roleplay?

That would be a big YES, due to the military roles roleplaying is REQUIRED just to join, if this is not possible for Prospects, they are not accepted. This Clan is not strictly PvP.

What are your PvP Rules?

Current Rules of Engagement are as follows:

If an Omni Employee opens fire on you, you are free to return fire and terminate his/her life. Duels and pre-arranged engagements which are not planned by Command Staff of this clan are the sole responsability of clan members.

What kind of Events will you have?

On the Military Events we cannot comment, we consider them classified information. The Events we can reveal will be done mostly off-duty time, Clan Meetings and Parties (with hired entertainment), Contests and Roleplaying Events.

Where is your Headquarters?

Because of Omni-Pol and Omni-InterOps continous undercover operations we constantly move our HQ within the Clan City of Athen, it is mobile and well protected by loyal clan citizens.

Do you ask a contribution or fee to join?

No, we have not and will NEVER ask anyone credits to join.

What are the requirements to join?

You NEED to be MATURE, able to respect rank and everyone in the clan, able to follow orders, willing to help any members of this clan by direct action or sharing of knowledge and/or any way to better fellow clan mates and/or the clan as a whole. Basic Roleplaying skills are REQUIRED to interact with others in this clan, specially in public. You NEED to be at or above Level 50. You will NEED 2 members that have been in the clan for at least a month to sponsor you.

How do I become an officer?

Officers are Level 75 or higher, any profession, very experienced in the planet of Rubi-Ka, willing to spent time to improve clan mates and the clan as a whole. They are almost all the time on-duty, they keep in touch with other officers to keep track of individual and overall progress of this clan, they help create and enforce the rules and regulations of this organization. And officer has GOOD roleplaying skills, leadership skills, tactical and military experience on the field of battle. If you can do this, then you have a chance at becoming an officer.

Are meetings mandatory?

No, they are not, however if a member misses too many meetings he/she may face a fine, please check our Bylaws for more details. We will try to set different dates and times to accomodate members at every planned Meeting.

Can an officer recruit me?

Only a General or our President are authorized to interview prospects, Commander Windguard will make the final decision on recruiting based on the interviewer's input.

What time are most clan members online?

Currently is hard to say, our members are from all over the world, from USA to Europe and Asia, different timezones. However it would not take long to make friendships with those who are on at the time in which you are in Rubi-Ka.

Are members required to have vehicles?

All members are REQUIRED to have a Yalmaha Class vehicle.

Will you have public events, not exclusively for members?

Yes, however our priority will be to plan, organize and run events specially made for Mercury Dragons.

Does the Clan have allied with other Clans?

Yes, our clan is allied with at least two other military clans and many non-military clans.

Will I get Armor, Weapons and Funds if I'm a member?

We do not promise nor guarantee you will be provided with such items or funds, however we do promise to help you in any way possible as long as it's reasonable. Since the first day we have seeing fellow clan members giving eachother items and funds freely.

Do you allow Clan members to Sell things to one another?

Mercury Dragons are PROHIBITED to sell ANYTHING to another Clan Member using the Mercury Dragons Global Channel, if you don't want to give it free of charge, don't offer it. Use the Clan Shopping Channel to sell the item (s), if a Mercury Dragon then offers to buy/sell something it is considered a private transaction, therefore allowed.

Do you have Clan Hunts?

That would be considered a Military Event, we cannot comment on that.

What are your PvNPC rules?

Omni-Tek Military personnel are considered hostiles and anyone can open fire at their own discretion. It is PROHIBITED for members to open fire on Clan or Neutral Military personnel, if a member attacks such personnel they will face a fine, a write up (reprimand) and/or up to a Court Martial and/or termination of membership.
