There are threads in other forums where people have started revisiting the weapons in the game. The reliance on critical damage made some weapons stand out more than others. However with crits being toned down, some of the other weapons in the game are starting to get picked up again.
I know in the NT forums, there's a thread discussing non-crit reliant pistols.
