pets spawn in missions?

Ok, since 13.0 this has happened to me twice. I go into a mission (usually find and describe), go to the room thats immediately on my left, kill the mob in the room, open the chest. Nothing in it. Close the chest. It explodes, but instead of hurting me it does no damage. and the message 'a rollerrat wakes up!' is displayed. I then notice a grey roller rat running around. I try to attack it. Nothing happens. I try to attack it again. I get the message 'you cant attack your own pet'. 'Cool' i think, ive got a roller rat pet. So i try to execute some pet commands, none of them work..it just sits there acting like a roller rat. So i walk off and do the rest of the mission, after im all done i come back and try to kill the rat again, only this time it says 'that function has been disabled'.

what parts of this are bugs and what parts arent?

ill get some screens the next time it happens.

It happened to me a couple times, to a friend, and to other peoples. I think it's only a small funny feature.
The frightened rollerrat do respond to /pet report BTW.
