    Late morning
    February 3rd 29477

Ternicko hadn't even gotten around to make breakfast when Jimmy's message came in.

"Immediately, hmmm, I'll grab a quick breakfast at The Cup first then"

She packed the data storage discs she thought would be needed, and started prepare herself mentally for what was about to happend.

    I'm heading into town now.
She turned on all security system, including the self destruction mechanism in the laboratory that would make sure any would be intruders would not get away with any secrets.

Yawning but rested from a nice sleep Nelida tabs through her comm messages and pauses at one from her friend Alamexis. After reading and rereading it she smiles to herself and makes a note on her days todo list.

Thinking, "Anything for a good friend." she clears some extra time and sets up a light agenda for the evening pondering over the best introduction she might offer in a limited time. Considering possible security concerns she decides on a relatively safe route through Clan only territory.

After a liesurely breakfast she makes her way to the spaceport and prepares for a rather unusual 'coffee' pickup off-planet.

    Sunday night

They had been there for quite a few moments, and Raquel was watching. She enjoyed watching, but not tonight... the slipped from the tables and strolled intently to the other side of the GSP dance floor. Without losing a step, she deftly made her way past Vixentrox to the back of the chair she faced. Raquel lightly tapped on Braedon's shoulder as he sat there, grinned, and continued on to the couch nearby.

Vixentrox greeted her, and Raquel responded casually while she got comfortable. Braedon gave her a smile and soon went back to his conversation with the Whisper's Edge leader. The SPARTA agent leaned back and relaxed, the streamplayer loud in her ear. Oh how she loved "Confusion". From time to time she felt eyes on her, his yes, her eyes... what an interesting conversation they must be having, she thought.

The music began to build and build in Raquel's ear and she became lost in the beat of her favorite Techno piece. It was all she could do to stop herself from hopping up to dance.... then suddenly the song faded into the next and the agent cursed loudly, expressing her annoyance. She heard a chuckle in response, Vix. Raquel scowled in return and just drug herself from the couch, to wander about the club.

Her mind also wandered, perhaps, just relaxing for a change, and she soon found herself in the Fireplace Room. Greeted by a warm fire, Raquel took a seat at one of the couches and melted into the seat. Eternity seemed to pass as she stared to the fire, mesmerized by the flicker of its flames. A soft woosh sounded behind her, and she soon found him sitting next to her. She could smell the scent of his clothes, of his hair, even his political views, as he made himself comfortable.

She quirked a brow and turned to Braedon, then asked if he needed any "help". Grinning, she waited for an answer, and he merely mentioned something about a sore back. Raquel offered a harmless back rub and he grinned, turnning around to face away from her. She finished a few of her commcalls first, then closed her wrist unit and slipped off her gloves, setting them aside.

The agent began slowly, searching out knots in the clanner's back, starting at just beneath his shoulder blades. He sighed as she worked her thumbs across his muscles, hinting that she indeed found the source of his soreness. A moment or two passed and he slumped slightly, relieved at the massage.

"Mind if I ask you a question during all this?," the clanner asked.. Raquel continued her massage, concentrating on the other side of his back now, and merely queried about what he wanted to know. He mentioned "Lesentia" and Raquel's hands stopped across his back for a quick second, then continued on his muscles - harder.

"Randa... yes, I know her. Why?", she asked him in turn. She heard him murmur the name again, and then assured her he'd tell her why, but wanted to know something more. Raquel's hands travelled to his shoulders to work the tension from them as well.

"Do you know this Alamexis well?," he asked and the agent's fingers dug into his shoulders a brief few seconds. He sensed her attitude growing and seemed to tense up slightly.

"Kind of, known him for quite a while now," she continued, going back to massaging his shoulders more gently now. She felt him tense even more, knowing she struck a nerve, and he tried to reassure her that that wasn't what he intended. Raquel mentioned a recent issue in Omni-1 that she and Malcom had gone through, she just worried about him sometimes....

"I can't imagine his currently political plans are making a lot of friends....," Braedon mused. And she agreed. They both agreed, that Malcom had quite a few 'guts' to do what he was doing. Peace.. after all, wasn't a popular topic to certain.. groups. She eased up on her massage, seeming to be near finishing it and he spoke once more, "Would you say that you support Alamexis' right to pursue this idea of his without hinderance? Yes, I'm getting to your why...I promise."

Raquel's hands stopped, frozen on his back before replying, "I shall answer professionally, and state that as an employee... he has the right to do whatever he sees fit as long as he has Omni-Tek's best interests in mind." She smiled, satisfied, "But you know, Brae.... If, at any point, he's hindered by Omni-Tek itself. Then that's the way it is. I don't question my Corporation. It's not my place."

Braedon let out a small sigh and nodded, "Yes, I do realize that's the way it is... It amazes me, however, that Alamexis allows himself to be spied on by the people he still claims to work for...very strange company." Raquel slipped her hands from the spots they were massaging on his neck to his shoulders as he continued, and pulled herself up to lean into him, her lips hovering near his ear.

"That's just the way it is...," she whispered.

As Randa exited the grid into the darkening sky of West Athens, she felt a small chill go down her spine. Not knowing what might happen this night made her feel uneasy.

Scanning through the channels of the devices that she had planted earlier, she sighed and headed toward the grid, back to Omni-1, as there was nothing out of the ordniary going on. Yet.......

    Early Evening

It had been the most enjoyable and relaxing afternoon of her entire tenure with Omni-Tek, perhaps because it was her last. Emiliy had been wandering all afternoon, basking in the warm glow of Rubi-Ka's twin suns, making sure that she visited all major Omni-Tek-held areas one last time.

First, to Rome, which she never really liked. Far too many people - bad people - lurked in the towers and never once took to the streets to so much as help all of the young ones who wandered the empty avenues confused, lost, and intimidated. From Rome, to Galway's castle, the sight of which only fueled a simmering flame within her.

"Have ta wonder how many butts this weirdo kissed ta get such a fancy place..." she muttered aloud in spite, before travelling to Clon****.

Emiliy had always had an affinity for the small mining town. There were the remains of an old space capsule, which she had not long ago, on a whim, decided to disassemble. She didn't even have the opportunity to get the first engine out before being chased away by...them. But aside from the machinery and massive notum canons to the south, she disliked everything else. From the poor desolute souls to the west of the main square that were forced to live in filthy, ricketty shacks to the headquarters of...them.

Back in the grid she went. Lush Hills Resort was always nice...but how could anyone enjoy a swim with all of those meany guards staring at you; never saying anything, just staring?

The end of Emiliy's planned journey through Omni-Tek lands led her into the grid, and she paused a moment. To her right was Omni-1 Entertainment, her brother, and the end of her employment. But, as she glanced around, a sign on the grid's lower level caught her eye - Borrealis. Those new guards - those bad people - that Malcom had warned her about would soon be roaming around Newland. If they weren't already there... She didn't even know. How long 'till they wander into Borrealis?

Emiliy quickly checked her program library as the association ran through her mind.

Borrealis...sparklies...Bogloglogloglogloglweeeee. ... Her choice was made.

As her ship approaches parking-orbit Nelida runs through her evening's agenda and makes notes of items to pay special attention to...pointing out the local save and reclaim terminals, banks, and the Clan whompa system.

She thinks outloud in a soft voice; "Yes, the Clan-side whompa system will be the safest travel mode in the short term...'till things calm down a bit at least." Thusly she begins to make arrangements for escorts on both sides of each whompa...especially the one guarded by those ineffectual ICC idiots.

Above and beyond a warm greeting it is her job to ensure the safety of her charge tonight.

"7:00 p.m. ..." Alamexis mumbled in frustration as he paced up and down the expanse of the apartment's entranceway. Everything had been packed and double- and even triple-checked, all arrangements had been confirmed, and he had meticulously ensure that the package was wrapped just right. "And still no Emiliy..."

Emiliy... Alamexis could still remember that peaceful late-December night when he been torn from a much-needed sleep by the sound of a robot whispering "Grrrrrrr!" in his ear. Naturally, his sister had arrived unannounced, catching him completely by surprise.

He had been working tirelessly for two solid weeks to pry her from the clutches of Omni-Trans - her third assignment in as many months. She had run full-tilt into Omni-Com after graduation, only to be "eased out", as the 'crats put it, for essentially proving an entire research division to be quite lacking in intelligence. Next was a whole six days at Omni-Med. Emiliy had found herself bored one evening, and decided it would be fun to attempt to twink an old-Earth MRI machine, and she succeeded. Her success at it came at quite the cost, however: it resulted in a 36-hour power failure to an entire district of Omni-Prime.

Thereafter she had nested with Omni-Trans, only to end up here. Glancing one last time at the readout on his datapad, he realized that, chances were, his sister had gone off on some adventurous tangent. Alamexis lifted both backpacks into his Yalm sent Emiliy a quick message, and headed off to The Cup.

    Late Morning
    February 3, 29477

Jimmy had been awake for eight hours before Ternicko arrived. He had been working out and thinking about the day, the day all their planning came together. He was not nervous. Jimmy didn't get nervous. He was excited, but not overly so. It was the cool, collected, logical view he took when dealing with operations, but when it came to politics he completely forgot about. As Ternicko arrived at the door, Jimmy emptied six full stims of speed formula to wake himself up.

    "Hello Ternicko."

    "Jimmy"

Ternicko looked grim. Jimmy had expected she would, she was risking severe bodily harm very soon.

"I have removed the suppression gas in my apartment. Did you insure outside like I told you?"

    "Yes"

"Good. Sit down in that chair. Don't worry, the restraints are only their in case of last minute cowardice, not that I expect that from you."

Jimmy clamped the restraints on Ternicko's head, arms, torso, and legs.

"This is going to be extremely painful. You will not live through it, though it will not kill you permanantly. This is all necessary to traumatize your brain and jar the memories from it. I am going to begin, scream all you like, these walls are soundproofed."

Four hours later, Ternicko lies dead in the chair.
((What, did you want all the gruesome details?))

Jimmy opened up a comm to Radein:

"The extraction was a success. Ternicko has charged the nanobots with the lethal formula."

Jimmy, exhausted from the four hours of torture, shot three more speed stims and headed off to deliver the package to his Omni contact.

With Boglwe sufficiently enveloped with a fresh coating of sparklies, Emiliy giggled. Malcom had asked her once what it was that so fascinated her about Rubi-Ka's most famous statue, to which Emiliy had thought intensely for almost five minutes, only to respond with " 'cause it's Boglwe! How can ya not be fascinated with her? All she does is chill. No angriness, no bad words, just chillin'." And here she was before her, "just chilling' - and sparklin'."

Emiliy fiddled with her comm, as messages were sent back and forth between her and Vixentrox of Whisper's Edge. It almost made Emiliy burst with happiness that there actually were people wandering around this cold, cruel planet that still cared. Vixentrox, Nelida, Benjacrat, Fixerben...all had shown her the respect of being a person, and not just another mindless employee.

"Hello Emiliy." Her moment of happiness was suddenly shattered by a metalic, robotic voice. Emiliy whirled around to face the robot, and noticed it wasn't alone. Beside the odd looking bureaucrat contraption was a man dressed in official Omni-Tek clothing.

"Hi officer...ummmm...what can I do for ya?" Emiliy responded, trying to suppress the fear that was building inside of her.

"Hello Emiliy. I am with Omni-Pol." The man responded. Emiliy eyed him from toe to head. Official cloak; official boots; official hat. Noticing that she was becoming quite uncomfortable by his presence, the man continued. "I am here to apologize."

"You're whaaaaaaat?!" Emiliy stood, mouth wide open, staring with shock at the officer.

"You know, for all of the trouble we've caused you, and your unfortunate brother." The man stated confidently.

"Well it's about time!" Emiliy, her spirit somewhat restored, stated boldly. "You been makin' people plenty angry!"

"Yes, yes I know. We have been very mean and nasty. And to make up for it, Omni-Pol has procured some real West Athen "The Cup" coffee for you!" The officer opened his cloak, producing a small, delicately wrapped package. Emiliy's jaw dropped again. "Cost us a lot to convince the clanners to give it to us, but we got it."

"Really?! No joke?!" Emiliy could hardly contain herself.

"We got from a trader that deals in coffee. One of the best in West Athen, if I do say so myself." He handed the package to Emiliy, who grabbed it. Holding it up to her nose, she inhaled deeply.

"Oooooooohhh...that's SO good!" The officer smiled back at her. "Apologies accepter, mister officer! But..."

    "Something the matter, Emiliy?"

"...ummmm...nevermind. Nothing tha matter at all. Nope. Everything's goooooooood..." A sudden moment of realization seized at Emiliy's mind, and, knowing it would be impossible to contain, she quickly said goodbye, and ran towards the grid terminal, bound for West Athen.

Suddenly, Emiliy froze in her tracks, and spun back around to where she had met the Omni-Pol officer. She was about to scream out "HEY! What's your name?!" when she noticed that the officer had disappeared.

"Awwww..." Emiliy shrugged it off. Maybe this'll make things all better between Malcom and tha police... Emiliy tapped at the grid terminal, and proceeded to meet her brother in West Athen.

    Early Evening
    February 3, 29477

Jimmy arrived in Borealis and proceeded to the secret warehouse Radein, Lynar, and he had had a couple meetings. He met his OmniTek contact there. A 'crat with OmniPol. He was a clanner at heart, but agreed to infiltrate OmniPol to help the clan cause.

"Here it is. This coffee package contains a permadeath bomb, so I wouldn't drop it if I were you. Be very nice, tell her that OmniPol is sorry for being so mean and nasty. Act very warm and cuddly. Do this well and you'll be a hero. Mess it up and you'll be dead. Permadead. And thats not the worst of it. I'll make your last few hours alive so bad you'll be glad when you're permadead. Capice?"

    "Yeah, I understand."

"Good luck. Long live the clans."

    "Long live the clans!"

The 'crat left. Jimmy sat down on a crate and sighed. He had wanted to make the delivery himself, he didn't trust this 'crat. He was in OmniPol. They could have gotten to him and turned him. Even if he had been a faithful contact with Jimmy for some time, he still didn't completely trust him. However, Radein didn't want Jimmy doing this. Jimmy had a hard time concealing his hate sometimes and had almost given himself away to that traitor Nelida. Jimmy, as always, listened to Radein. Jimmy was smart, but tactically smart. Radein knew strategy. While good tactics can win a battle, good strategy wins the war. So he would wait and let the 'crat do his job.

    20 minutes later

    The 'crat got back.

"It was a complete success. She completely bought it."

    "I know, I've been watching."

    "Watching?"

"I put a camera in your hat. You did a good job. I'll tell this to the clans. Heres some more credits and another Sentinel merit. Make sure OmniTek doesn't catch you with these things."

Jimmy waited for the 'crat to leave and made his way to Newland. Lynar was the primary sniper in case there was a problem with the bomb and Jimmy was the backup sniper in case Lynar missed, which wasn't going to happen so Jimmy was just there for the fireworks.

    Evening
    The Cup - West Athen

"For you, Emiliy." Alamexis placed the package on the table, sliding it slowly over to his sister.

"What's this? What did you do?!" Emiliy's eyes grew wide with excitement.

"I've been working on this since I realized..." Alamexis glanced away from his sister as she furiously tore apart the wrapping. "...since I realized that I would not be able to live up to your expectations. Emiliy, I have always felt terrible that---"

"The World of Rubi-Ka..." Emiliy wasn't paying attention to him, as she began flipping through the book he had prepared. "IT HAS EVERYTHING!! ALL THA PLACES!!"

"Almost." Alamexis chuckled, restraining tears. "There is one section missing."

" 'Temple of the Three Winds'...what's that?"

"It will be your task to find out. And to complete the book. There are a great number of empty pages, as well, in case you find anything I've yet to discover. Emiliy, you are far more adventurous than I. I have agonized over not being able to travel with you about, but hopefully, now that you have my words to guide you, you won't be so restrained." Alamexis smiled warmly at his sister and took the final sip of his coffee, sighing. "This is the most wonderful coffee on the planet."

"Ya...but you gotta come here from now on! Just ta meet me!" Emiliy left her coffee half-finished. "OH NO! What about Amacia?!" Emiliy exclaimed.

    "What about her?"

"She's in Newland waitin' for me! I was gonna surprise her and show up at her apartment in Tir, but...what if tha guards are there?" Emiliy was being overcome with guilt.

"Tell you what, Emiliy" Alamexis knelt before his sister as they emerged on the streets of West Athen. "Go and unpack your things. I'll go to Newland and tell her to meet you in front of your new place. I won't tell her it's for you, though. So you can still surprise her."

Emiliy exploded with glee, and wrapped her arms tightly around her brother's neck. "Thank you for everything, and especially tha book, Malcom!" Alamexis smiled back, ignoring his flashing comm.

"I will contact Vixentrox for you. Now, go - get settled in." Alamexis stood, and watched his sister wave and jog towards the entrance of backyard 4.

"WAIT!!" Emiliy screamed, just as Alamexis was about to turn to the grid terminal. She quickly ran back to him. "Now that I can have all tha Tha Cup coffee that I want, I think you should have this. You know, just so ya remember me." Emiliy pulled open her backpack, and, without thought, handed Alamexis the coffee given to her by the Omni-Pol officer.

    "What's this..."

"It's real Tha Cup coffee!" She was beaming with happiness.

    "Emmi..."

"HEY!" She exclaimed, a sour look crossing her face. "...okay, one last time..." she huffed with defeat.

Alamexis smirked and leaned forward, kissing his sister on the forehead. As he watched her pass through the doors into backyard 4, Alamexis smiled, as tears burst from his eyes. He stood in the middle of the street, weaping heavily. She was going to a better place, among better people, after all... Despite these words of self-reassurance, he could not help but wish she had not left his side.

Knowing full-well that he had to clean himself up prior to meeting Amacia, lest he be taunted beyond recovery, Alamexis walked back into The Cup.

  13. #73
He stood in a corner of The Cup, after having entered and seen an Omni-Pol officer. It was foolish to cower from them; none had even attempted to approach him, let alone question him about the allegations made against him and his sister...as of yet... Alamexis reminded himself.

Vixentrox had been quite insistent to Emiliy earlier that Alamexis contact her, and after exchanging a few messages, it became all too apparent why she had been so forward.

    "That's outrageous!" Alamexis cried out.

"It is true. Templus and a squad of her goons were searching around backyard 4 earlier tonight. Cyani is the main suspect."

An Omni-Pol officer is murdered, and Cyani is the main suspect?! The shock and absurdity of it all made little sense.

"One moment. There is an officer here - Neboja. I will see what I can find out. I will contact you shortly." Alamexis tapped his comm off, and moved from his corner to where the officer was seated.

"Might I have a word with you, officer?" Alamexis asked.

"Greetings Alam. Of course. In private?" Neboja responded.

"That is entirely up to you. It is concerning the murder of an Omni-Pol officer today. Is this true?"

"Yes. We investigated into it and ran a search through this area. Do you have any information?" The officer's training kicked in full-force, as he fully turned to face Alamexis.

"I may be able to help. I am under the impression that Cyani Kerans-Shone has been implicated. Am I correct?"

"You would be correct in that assumption."

"How are you certain of this?" Alamexis struggled to contain his outrage at this accusation.

"Eye witness accounts. One from a very credible source, I understand."

"I must know - who is your "witness"?"

"One moment. I am sending a message to my commanding officer. I need clearance before giving out any information." Neboja steeled with resolve, hiding his discomfort at Alamexis' question with absolute mastery. He tapped at his wrist twice, and Alamexis became furiously impatient.

"Tell your commanding officer that whether or not I receive this information determines whether or not I assist." Neboja nodded, still listening at his comm for a response.

    "Awaiting clearance. Pardon the delay."

"And please do not stall for your commanding officer to arrive. I have an important meeting in less than 15 minutes." Alamexis crossed his arms defiantly, knowing Omni-Pol's tactics all to well.

"General Templus has requested you meet her personally in 10 minutes. She will brief you on all the details. I am not at liberty to say."

"I will do no such thing. I haven't the time."

"You have information concerning the murder of an Omni-Pol officer Alamexis."

    "Your point being?"

"You will go to Borrealis and meet with General Templus."

"I will do no such thing." Alamexis glanced at his comm, quickly checking the suppression gas levels and sighing with relief.

"I have the authority to take you in for questioning."

"Pity you lack the means to do so, officer."

"Any information you have on an Omni-Pol employee murder is required to be given to Omni-Pol."

"And never once did I admit to the possession of information. You make far too many assumptions, fool." Alamexis was furious, and he glared coldly at the officer.

    "Really?"

    "Indeed."

" 'Tell your commanding officer that whether or not i receive this information determines whther or not i assi---" Seizing the opportunity at the officer reading a quote from Alamexis on his comm, he seized the opportunity. Alamexis' eyes grew wide with alarm, purposely glancing over Neboja's shoulder.

    "Look out!" Alamexis shouted.

As the officer spun quickly around to where Alamexis was staring intensely, Alamexis whirled around and bolted for the door. Behind him, he could hear the rattling of the officer's armour, and, once on the street, Alamexis ran rapidly for the grid terminal.

Glancing over his shoulder, and seeing the officer close at his heals, Alamexis pounded at the terminal's access button, and within seconds was digitized and thrust into the grid.

Without a second thought, he lept from the middle platform down to the floor below. Having done this very thing many times beforehand, he instinctually knew the direction of the exit he chose. His triangular grid form whirled around, and took flight through the lower level of the grid towards the exit to Newland.

Alamexis ran out of The Cup with an OmniPol officer running after him. Christopher, in his Yalm outside The Cup, wondered what was going on. He open up a commlink to Vixentrox and asked her. She replied that an OmniPol officer had been murdered and that OmniPol were searching BY4 earlier and that Cyani, Nelida's wife, was the chief suspect.

Christopher contacted VoF and told them the relevant information. He added this as his public statement:

"OmniPol did not lift a finger when a my cousin was found permanently murdered in my apartment and a horrorific message scrawled on my apartment walls in blood, aside from the fact that the entire flat was shot to hell. I inquired to a couple OmniPol officers why nothing had been done and I was told that the clans and clanners were none of their concern. If this is so, then they have no right to search for or arrest Cyani or any other clanner for that matter. If they believe we do not fall under their jurisdiction, then we do not fall under their jurisdiction. They are attempting to illegally kidnap Cyani Kerans-Shone and unlawfully imprison her. I call upon all people to do whatever they can to hinder these illegal activities. Until OmniPol makes up their mind about what falls under their jurisdiction, they cannot prosecute this case. They cannot be allowed to pick and choose which cases involve them. If a murder happens in the clan lands, its up to the clan law enforcement, according to General Templus and Sergeant Tikon of OmniPol. Therefore, we do not fall under OmniTek jurisdiction and they have no right to touch Cyani or any other clanner. Any attempts to do so while I am around will be met with violence. I am not a violent person. I am working for peace. But picking and choosing which crimes ot investigate and deciding when we fall under OmniPol jurisdiction cannnot and will not be allowed."

The moment his senses had returned to him after being reconstructed by the grid terminal in Newland, they were overwhelmed by two contradictory, and yet oddly complimentary, impulses.

The first was the explosion. It had errupted from somewhere beneath his black trenchcoat, creating a hole the size of a coffee table in his clothing. The blinding flash of light overcame his eyes. Yet, oddly enough, he felt no pain.

Pain thrust itself upon him less than a second later, as the sound of something shattering, coupled with a burning sensation in his right temple, forced his knees to buckle. The burning slowly dulled, and all that Alamexis could feel was a warmth within the confines of his skull.

As the darkness began to creep upon him and overtake his mind and body, Alamexis turned his head upwards to the sky, staring directly into the purple borrealis high above Rubi-Ka. Rubi-Ka. His home. The planet he had worked tirelessly to bring some sense of sanity to. The planet he loved.

Love. As his mind, and heart, turned to this encompassing, pervasive emotion, only one image flashed before the darkness around him. Emiliy... He could see his sister's face as she ran crying to him when they were still children, her lip swollen and bloody, her eye bruised, after one of her bots had gone awry. Emiliy... Alamexis watched again as his heart was torn apart when she finally passed through the doors of West Athen backyard four.

Frantic cries errupted around him, but he cared little. Knowing these moments were the final instances he would ever see - ever feel - he focused his concentration on Emiliy - on the little dove, dressed all in white.

A smile crossed his lips, ever so slightly, as he collapsed to his knees and then fully to the grass below. Emiliy was safe now; she had his words to guide her.

Darkness finally seized at him, and in that painful moment, when the light of love finally receded and the darkness of death overcame him, Alamexis gathered his strength, whispering "infinitum" into the darkness...

Lynar sat quietly on the hill side beneath his blind. "The mark should arrive soon."

A man with blonde hair came out of the Grid Terminal, a small pain shot through Lynar's head as the DNA sequencer activated and flushed his instincts to fire, "This is not the mark... what is going on." At that same instant Jimmy emerged from his own blind and pressed an activator switch on a tiny thumb remote tucked neatly in his hand. The man stared at the agent garbbed in a full suit of InterOp... a puzzled look crossed his face as the agent held out his hand and clicked a button.

A swirl of of nano bots erupted from within the small package of "coffee" that the gentleman was carrying, the colors began to shine as the nanos knitted a life trapping field around the individual... sensing his fate the unfortunate individual reached out only to collapse as poisonous gases invaded the field ridding his lungs of oxygen and rapidly eating up his moisture from the inside out.

Lynar burst from his perch and raced to the scene, arriving a few onlookers started wondering their way... "Jimmy lets go... nothin we can do about it now." growled Lynar. Jimmy nodded and started on his way to Newland City where they were to disappear. Lynar raised his rifle and fired a round into the dry husk that was once Malcom "Alamexis" Age... "So long Mr. Age, how unfortunate that you somehow gained your sisters place... have to discuss with the boss on this one."

Lynar whirled around and shout at the crowd, "Omni-Tek traitors are everyones concern! Nothing to see here, but remember we were never here in the first place."

With that Lynar followed Jimmy into the city. Lynar immediately headed for West Athens to go 'blend' with the locals within the Cup and get lost amongst the regulars.

    Very Early Morning
    February 4, 29477

Today should be a national day of mourning for clanners who had followed and supported the democratic cause. The chief OmniTek supporter, Mr. Malcom Alamexis Age, was murdered today in a brutal act of terrorism.

Witness reports say that two men in OmniInternOps uniforms were nearby in masks carrying rifles. They shot teh dead body of Mr. Age and yelled, "Omni-Tek traitors are everyones concern! Nothing to see here, but remember we were never here in the first place."

A statement was made by Mr. Christopher Uwen MacGreggor, a friend and associate of Mr. Age. He said the following yesterday:

    He added these words today:

"OmniPol caused the death of Malcom. They harrassed him and threatened to kidnap him forcing him to run out of The Cup and into the grid. He instinctively ran for Newland, where he was murdered. The thugs in OmniPol have killed one of the greatest Law minds in OmniTek. They didn't actually pull the trigger or set off the detonater, but they were the ones that forced him, through brutish tactics, into running and therefore dying. One would hope they would rethink their brutal tactics and criminal behaviour after this incident.

We don't know who actually killed Malcom. Whether it was InternOps, OmniPol, or perhaps even militant Sentinel supporting clanners who disdain peace and democracy, we do not know. The one witness who claimed to have seen the entire event, an agent by the name of "Lynar", has disappeared. I call on all clanners to assist in finding these brutal terrorists and eliminating them, whether they are OmniInternOps, OmniPol, or Sentinels.

Malcom had nothing if not a desire for peace between the clans and OmniTek. For this, he was killed. Is this the kind of world we want to raise our children in? This kind of nightmare where the good are murdered and the evil are powerful? This is a disgusting state of being here on RubiKa. I hope that Malcom's death will at least help show people that something is seriously wrong here. We must do something to change this, lest this good man's death be in vain."

The Voice will let you know when we have more information or are able to contact more people about the issue.

(PART 1 ... Trying to catch up )

    Monday night...

His comm kept buzzing incessantly as he passed through Borealis and Newland...and his stress level kept rising...

"Can I hav sum credits?" a strange voice asked.

Sometimes, the adventurer hated suppression gas.

Finally, Braedon made his way to ICC where Wulfven of Gridstream Productions was broadcasting his show. Lounging in sabretooth form, Braedon took some time to ponder the events of the previous night. He was tired...stretched thin...and, on edge. So much had occurred the last couple of days, and he needed some time to sort through it all.

    Flashback to Sunday night...

He had wandered to Reets and met with Vixentrox of Whisper's Edge. As the new Vice-Leader of EndGame, he had hoped to have the opportunity to speak with Vixentrox to guage her interest in the Alliance. Taking advantage of the opporunity, the two talked at length. Braedon came out of the converstation hopeful that Whisper's Edge might soon find a place in the Alliance. Yet again, Braedon was amazed at how much the two leaders saw eye-to-eye on many matters. Formalized alliance or not, this was one friendship he felt fortunate to have, and one that had survived the test of time.

Braedon and Vixentrox spoke of much more than Alliances that night, however. She relayed the threat she had receieved from an unnamed source. Braedon felt his fists clench in anger as the words were repeated to him, and he offered to assist Vixentrox in any way he could. The two leaders then compared notes on what they knew.

During this conversation with Vixentrox, Sezmra approached and greeted him. The Omni Agent had the effect on him he had come to expect, but also another he didn't...one he didn't like one bit. He felt distrust. The information Vixentrox and he were sharing was of a...sensitive nature. His heart cried out that he had nothing to worry about from this agent sitting nearby, but his head screamed otherwise. He had responsibilities...and, he made certain none of the conversation could be overheard.

Doing his best to block out the distractions, both pleasant and otherwise, that the alluring Omni brought about...he continued his conversation with Vixentrox. A few minutes later, he watched Sezmra's form as she slowly departed the dance floor area.

Always she walks, as if stalking her prey, he thinks to himself, shaking his head.

After the two leaders complete their conversation, Braedon decids it's time to track her down...and address that uncomfortable feeling of before. He found her in the fireplace room at Reets. Pausing a moment, he stared at her silhouette in front of the flickering fire, then moved to take a seat.

The backrub....was that a selfish request on his part, or truly a ploy intended to distract the agent from his plans to gather information? He tried to convince himself it was the latter.

Sighing softly, Braedon found himself pleased that the Omni agent knew more about the human anatomy than merely which parts are most succeptable to a bullet. Much more. Her touch was actually doing a great deal to melt his tension away, but he was still troubled. He needed information, and assurance....at least as much as he could get against such a worthy opponent.

This would be a dangerous conversation.

Having his back turned to her put him at a disadvantage in that he couldn't see her face, but the rhythym of her touch could reveal a lot. Closing his eyes, he focused on her hands running over his back, and let loose the first name...

    "Lesentia"

A pause in her movements, and some agitation. He did his best to thwart her inquiries, and went for the next name.

    "Alamexis"

Braedon winced a bit as her strong hands dug into his back. Yes, that struck a nerve...and, striking a bit deeper than he intended.

He spoke to her a bit about the Omni lawyer and his recent goals. Some of her answers gave him pause...there was admiration in her voice, which he also felt for the man. Yet, her guard was going up quickly...the corporate shell came out in full force.

"I don't question my corporation. It's not my place."

"That's just the way it is."

How those two simple statements from her set his teeth on edge. Everything he stood for and believed in raged against those words.

Yet, he expected it. He may be an optimist and a dreamer at times, but he's not a fool. Omni is Omni, and Sezmra isn't some novice employee. He more than had his hands full.

Turning abruptly in his seat, the President of Valor Eternal faced the SPARTA agent. Distrust aside...there was a respect and affection between the two that could not be ignored. And, there were some things that needed saying...

Braedon made it clear that he knew of the increase in Omni surveillence, and who the agents were. He also informed her that threats had been issued, while not specifically towards him, or her....he felt confident that anyone supporting or involved with Alamexis or Uwen is inviting danger. He mentioned the rumors of Sentinel involvement, a group that the two could likely agree on as an enemy. All this he volunteered, doubting he was telling her much she didn't already know, but hoping his openness would lead her to take his next plea very seriously...

"I need you to tell me what you might find out, and I will do the same," Braedon said firmly, his eyes intensely locked on hers. "But, most importantly, I need you to promise me that you will be careful."

That last part was filled with a bit more emotion than he intended. Flashbacks of the nightmare filled his head and lowered his own defenses. She seemed to take his words to heart, however...and, that was all Braedon could hope for.

The two decided to head off to Borealis falls to unwind to a GSP performance and then call it a night.

Braedon prayed he hadn't said too much....

And, that he had said enough....

    Monday...

Maephina stood silently on a hill just outside West Athen. It was a place many had come to know well. The night air brisk and soothing on her skin, she relaxed a little, her breath escaping in a sigh into the wind.

The night had been a long and terrible one. Lexus had revealed her self to be in league with the Sentinels. A confusing yet not wholly unpredictable turn of events. She wasn't entirely sure how to proceed in the face of someone who had come to know her so closely turning to the path of fanatical neo-facisim. The thought was overwhelmingly disturbing.

"I almost wish I had stayed on Earth..." she told her self quietly. The thought of the loneliness she had endured there taking hold of her mind. She could see the lights, hear the sounds and smell the air in her mind almost as clearly as she breathed the air on Rubi-Ka...whispers of a place she once called "home."

She had often mused at the idea of what if...what if she found her self opposed to someone she once held dear. What would she do? How should she proceed? She never imagined it would actually come to pass...not like this.
"Ahh but who better than her...It makes sense in an ironic and seemingly inevitable sort of way..." the thought trailing off as a lump caught in her throat.

She had thought many times since last she spoke to her friend. The conversation had not gone well as she recalled. Two nights had passed since then and not a word from Lexus. She was deeply conscerned.

Her moment of recollection was interrupted suddenly by a comm signal coming through. "Yes?" she said softly, her voice wavering slightly as she addressed the caller. ".....Yes, the merchandise is still yours for the taking. We are still agreed on the price? Good. "

The female on the other end spoke quietly, her voice almost completely inaudible over the winds on the high hill Maephina stood on. She had to focus to make out every word clearly.
"Where would you like to meet? ...yes Harrys is fine...one hour? Agreed..."

She closed her comms and lifted her gaze once more to the horizon. The three moons passing into seclusion behind an encroaching cloud bank. She knew she had work to do and very little time in which to do it.

She reopened her comms and made a call to make sure the last preperations were in place. "It's me...she's agreed to take the equipment off my hands...is everything in place? ...good. And you're certain they won't be easily detected?....Excellent. I'll need the gear in thirty minutes. "
She spoke clearly and firmly to the person on the other end, her voice almost a tone of anger and disgust. She tried not to let her emotions get the best of her as she continued... "You'll be payed as promised. Just have the merchandise ready for me in thirty..."

She closed the comms again. She had spent the past 2 weeks in preperation for this moment. She had arranged to sell some OT equipment back to the company through a rather well known and increasingly infamous member of Omni-Pol. This had been delayed when Templus had apparently arranged for the demise of her clan's leader...but it was only a temporary set back. Templus had once again agreed to the transaction. Several pieces of OP Elite and a top quality Battle suit were hard to pass up...even if it was a clanner who was selling. Of course, Mae had made certain the equipment had been slightly "enhanced" before she'd be making the final sale. The thought made a little smile cross her lips.
"Silly Omni-cops...always think they're ahead of the game. Predictable."

Her time among the coporation had taught her well. Taught her how to survive in this world. But some things Mae realized, no amount of training could prepare her for. It's as if she was realizing this more and more with each passing day.

She focused her thoughts and activated her nano-bots, the program Quantum Wings taking life in her NCU. She lifted effortlessly off the ground and flew high into the night sky, her destinations and objectives clear in her mind.

As she soared, her thoughts crept in on her again..."It's ok Lexy...It's ok...You have your Sentinals...have them all you wish. I hope they fill your needs...your desires...that's what makes us different you and I...I learned a long time ago that in the end you only need your self. You've still got a lot to learn. "

    (PART 2)

    Back to Monday night...

Braedon was spralled out in sabretooth form with Kirasha leaning against him. This was a favorite form for Breadon, and feeling Kirasha's lithe body laying against him always had a way lifting Braedon's spirits.

Sezmra was dancing nearby to Wulfven's tunes, and drawing appreciative glances from the couple. Glances that were occasionally met with a smile.

ICC traffic came and went, but there were no distractions. The night seemed to be calming, and so was Braedon's mood.

Until the voice came across his comm...

    "Have you heard?"

Immediately Braedon's stomach lurched, recognizing Vixentrox's voice and the urgency in it.

"Heard what?" he asked...fearing the news to follow.

    "Alamexis...he's dead....permanently," she responded after a pause.

Braedon's hand slipped off of his comm a moment. While he honestly never got to know the man, he felt the loss. From afar, he had admired the lawyer's courage and vision. And, now the Omni diplomat with a vision of peace...had died for having that dream.

After asking Vixentrox for any details she knew, he agreed to meet with her as soon as possible. Seeing Kirasha staring at him with concern, he shares the news with her. As he finishes telling what he knows, he notices something very wrong. Sezmra has disappeared.

Cursing himself for not paying attention, he apologizes to Kirasha and sets out in search of the Omni agent. While he was still uncertain just how close Sezmra and Alamexis were, he knew this news would hit her hard. And, his senses warned the danger from this was far from over.

"Brae, two of the individuals you mentioned are at The Cup right now," his Advisor, Aameul, suddenly states over his comm.

"Thank you, Aam," Braedon says, glad to have friends he can trust giving assistance. "Please let me know if they leave, I'm going to try to swing by there."

Aameul passes on what information he can overhear as the two individuals talk, but they quickly depart from The Cup. Braedon's search for Sezmra was leading nowhere, and she wasn't responding to her comm. Irritated and feeling a bit helpless, he decides to swing by The Cup on his way to Vixentrox.

Braedon meets with Uwen briefly outside of The Cup and the two share their remorse for what had occurred. Uwen explains that he had just conveyed the news to Alamexis' sister, and his lover. Seeing there's no more to be done here, Braedon wishes Uwen well, and offers to help in any way. The Adventurer then activates his yalm and heads to the West Athen cliff.

Upon arrival, he finds a visibly upset Vixentrox, as well as her General, Maephina and an unfamiliar atrox introduced to him as, Rockshaww. After sharing some information on the murder scene and the rumors that have been flying about, Vixentrox suddenly switches subjects.

"Braedon," she says in a very business-like tone. "I have something I have to tell you, and I don't think you will like it."

Can this night get much worse?, the frustrated Clan leader wonders.

"I think a Clan General wants to see you dead," she says, a bit hesistantly.

Why would she hesitate to tell me something like this? Braedon wonders.

"What?!? A Clanner? Who? And, why? This doesn't make sense," Braedon retorts, his anger mounting.

Vixentrox and Maephina both look suddenly uncomfortable.

    "Lexusstreak," Vixentrox finally answers.

Braedon went from shocked, to angry, to disgusted in a matter of mere seconds.

    Lexusstreak?

I mean, sure...she always came across as coarse and billigerent to Breadon, and she had made a very rude comment the previous night when she saw Sezmra with him at Reet's. But, wanting him dead? Lexusstreak, Vixentrox and Maephina...they were rather "close," and now this woman wants him dead?

Seeing Braedon's total confusion, Vixentrox and Maephina begin explaining about the changes they've seen recently in Lexusstreak, and her apparent growing admiration and involvement with The Sentinels.

The Valor Eternal leader just shakes his head, feeling sympathy for these two ladies who so clearly are hurt by the recent changes in a person they cared deeply for. Braedon barks a couple of orders into his comm to org members...

First, any members are to report the location of Lexusstreak should she be spotted.

Secondly, all members are to keep all eyes open for the SPARTA agent, Semzra, and report here whereabouts immediately.

Braedon barely had time to finish those orders when he heard the slight hum of a yalmaha behind him. Spinning quickly, he stood face-to-face with Lexusstreak...

BEGIN VICINITY LOG, WEST ATHEN CLIFF, MONDAY NIGHT...

Lexusstreak: what are you looking at....

Braedon: I'm not quite sure, Lexus...you tell me.

Lexusstreak: i know what I see

    Braedon: Do you?

    Lexusstreak spits at braedon's shoes

    Lexusstreak: a traitor

    Braedon looks down and chuckles

Braedon: If anyone is a traitor...it would be trash allying themselves with the Sentinels.

    Rockshaww raises a brow

Lexusstreak: we don't need people like you in our new order

Braedon: Good, because whatever this "new order" is....I want no part of it.

Lexusstreak: you won't live long enough to see it

    Braedon: That a threat?

    Lexusstreak: no

    Lexusstreak: it's a promise

Braedon: I hope you have a helluva army at your back...

Vixentrox hands Uwen a chemical collection kit

    Braedon: Because I do.

    Braedon grins slowly

Uwen puts it in his backpack

Lexusstreak: don't you have omnis to kiss?

Braedon: Not just this moment, no.

Lexusstreak: hopefuly fisk wil deal witht he traitors first

Braedon: I hope he tries it.

Lexusstreak: you'd last about 2 seconds

Braedon: I'd be the least of his worries.

Lexusstreak: I can't wait until he piles the filth like omni and traitor clan into a pile and burns them while they breathe

Braedon: And, who else is going to be in this burning of traitors...those that stand here with me as well?

    END VICINITY LOG

Braedon hated bringing the personal feelings shared between the three ladies into the "discussion," but he had to guage just how far Lexusstreak had fallen. The three ladies exchanged words for some time, with Lexusstreak showing no signs of hearing their words to her, only ranting on about The Sentinels and her hatred for both Omni and Neutrals

Lexusstreak specifically brought Sezmra's name into the discussion as she again addressed Breadon, and it took every ounce of the Adventurer's willpower to avoid testing the suppression gas level....a move that wouldn't have been terribly wise should it have somehow dropped.

The soldier continued to spew her hatred, lecturing all of us about our lack of understanding of the war...

RESUMING VICINITY LOG, SEVERAL MINUTES LATER...

Lexusstreak: if you oppose me, you are against me and that makes it war

    Maephina: Oppose you.....

Braedon: Who are you to oppose or not oppose?

Lexusstreak: someone who is far better than you

    Braedon: You're a fanatical individual...and, you'll fail like any other fanatic...period.

Lexusstreak: better that then living on my knees in omni's shadow

    Lexusstreak: like you

Lexusstreak: so what have they offered you hmmm?

Lexusstreak: a full pardon when we are all wiped out?

    Lexusstreak: a comfy desk job?

Vixentrox: what have YOU been offered?

    Vixentrox: Colonel

Lexusstreak: the future of this clan

Braedon: I don't live on my knees, lunatic. I live my life free, amongst Clanners who I call friends...and, who believe in me. I wonder, can you say the same? Are you a bit bitter about that?

    Vixentrox: promotion to general perhaps?

Lexusstreak: THAT IS WHAT i HAVE BEEN OFFERED

Lexusstreak: I have been offered a future free of the disease that infests this city

Lexusstreak: Omnis coming and going as they please, making a mockery of us, our guards

Vixentrox: you have been offered a delusion

Lexusstreak: and nw the neutrals, that indecisive trash, is aligning with omni, they will die too, I know now why fisk never trusted them

Braedon: We're wasting our time...she's more brainwashed than the most loyal Omni employee...

Lexusstreak: we'll see who survives this

    Lexusstreak: the weak will fall

Braedon: I'll not lose any sleep...

Vixentrox: Braedon...when would it be posible to meet with the EG council?

Lexusstreak: and hopefully when you close your eyes one night, they will not open again

Maephina closes her eyes and takes a deep breath

Braedon: Very soon, Vix...we can arrange it.

Maephina opens them slowly looking at Lexus

Vixentrox: will they all be coming to the RMC meeting?

Lexusstreak: seems I'm wasting my time here

Lexusstreak: just more fodder for the war machine

Maephina slowly kisses Lexy on the cheek softly

Braedon: I pray you see the errors of your ways, Lexus...for your sake and those who care for you...before the evil you've alligned yourself with betrays you...and, they will...

    Maephina: Good bye friend

    Lexusstreak: don't touch me!

    END LOG

With that, Lexusstreak stalks off. Braedon offers what comfort he can to Vixentrox and Maephina, who were both understandably upset. Realizing there was little more he could do here, he excuses himself and resumes his search for Sezmra.

Finally, he finds the Agent walking the halls at Reet's Retreat, her training masking her feelings well. She, of course, had heard of the tragedy with Alamexis. Leading her off to a private spot, Breadon tries to crack the facade she has up, but to little avail. It's clear to him that Sezmra is hurting, and angry...but, she says little.

Breadon tells her of the confrontation with Lexusstreak, and Sezmra doesn't seem surprised. He mentions that her name came up a few times in the little discussion, and again...she shows no surpise. But, perhaps a hint of sadness in her eyes?

Or, are you seeing what you want to see?

Guessing that the opifex would prefer her privacy, Braedon nods to end the talk, and rises to his feet. Standing next to Sezmra, he pauses...reaches down....and takes her hand in his, holding it a moment.

Letting go, he vows to be in touch and walks down the hall and out of Reet's, exhaustion calling him to his apartment.

I won't be bullied or told who I can or cannot associate with, Braedon vows to himself upon finding his bed and closing his eyes.

    It's not black and white...it can't be....

Breadon falls into a fitful sleep, filled with dreams of death....and loss....
