Making LOTS of money as a new player

I'm level 34 and I have 200k+ credits. Only once did I ever ask for money and that was from my clan. The reason? Well there was this nice Yalm that had a air req. of only 175

Air req 175 is quite high for a low QL yalm ...



Thanks to the IS passes, I made like 30M credits. And guess what ... I was not selling them for 1M+ each but for 300k each or 1M per bundle of 4.

Those passes created a lot of overgreedy low level doods.

Newbie here...I have a lvl 10 Omni-Adventurer on Rubi-1...just read your guide and got a few items from missions yesterday. My understanding is that the lower the QL, the easier it is to equip and thus the higher the asking price?

That being said, I have 2 Old-English Trading Co. pistols...a QL13 and a QL10. And a QL12 Concrete Cushion. Do these still have a good sale value?

The only time when lower QL has higher value is when the benefit of the item is the same but the lower QL is easier to equip. Thus a QL1 Second Hand Old English Trading Company pistol is worth more than a QL13 because the QL1 can be dual-wielded by almost anyone for +10 Intelligence, but the QL13 can be used by fewer people for only the same Intelligence buff.

For Concrete Cushions, QL12 should still get pretty close to what you could get for QL10.

Thanks for a great post, even though I am not an active participant in the player to player economy I found your tips and info quite helpful. They gave me as a newbie a sense of direction and grounding in how to approach the game and enjoy it.

I only wish I'd started playing before I paid SOE another year upfront fro EQ.... Oh well, live and learn. thanks again!

I gotta say this. Nobody owes you anything, no matter how much they have and how little you have. If you can understand and learn to accept this, then things will go a lot smoother for you in this game.

We were all new at one point. Every level 200 person you see with uber armor and a godly weapon started out in a backyard with nothing but a bat, a solar pistol/rifle/shotgun…..or their bare hands. No armor, no money, no nothing.

I started playing AO at a time when nobody had anything. We were all new, hell the game was new. Back then, there were even fewer ways to earn money than there are now, because, well, there wasn’t much money in the game to begin with.

I'm sure there is some useful info in here but the first post, the original poster, peeves me. He makes it sound like some people don't know these thing. However, that's probably the truth. I myself started in those days when there was nothing but I don't mind begging, it's fun! Hehe. I agree with him, I just am annoyed with the way he puts things.

That said, AO should teach all the lvl 200's that being a socialist is wrong and being a libertarian is good

I was a bit upset when I originally posted that, all those months ago. Back then, begging for credits was horribly common. I literally could not enter a town or strike up a cnversation without being asked for credits. If I refused or if my donation was not large enough, folks said the most god awful things in return.

I believe that when a situation is bad enough, you need to put things bluntly, get your point across hard to open folks' eyes up. The wording was harsh, but at the time, the situation was far worse than harsh. The moment someone said "hi" to me, my stomach would sink because I know they wanted money from me and I'd have yet another ruined day by getting cussed out for not giving away everything I owned.

As a result of this thread and others like it, every high level player's gameplay experience has improved markedly. I definitely respect your point of view on my wording and if I were a new player I probably would agree with you, but I'm hesitant to change it for the above reasons

I can't tell you how useful this thread has been to me. I'm now the pillow queen.

I wasn't sure how well med suits would sell. I brought only three back from my smuggling run. Oh boy, did I screw up. I'm sold out, 2 at 50 and 1 at 300 (their offer! "need medsuit now, paying 300k") and saw two people begging at 100k last night.

My 14 MA is going to buy me (92 doc) a yalm!

Thanks for this INSANELY useful post. As a newbie starting out, I've been able to afford up to Q50 implants with my currently 32 fixer. I know I NEVER would have been able to do that before.

And just a note, if this hasn't been mentioned. Tried to sell some Galahads today, and the recent restriction on dualing them really hurt their overall price.

This is a great post topic. Sadly this begging goes accross most games.. I can honestly say, I have never done this.. But I have been rewarded many times by "uber" players. Why. I just play, I do the best I can to RP (I love that!) and have met high level pple who have said, hey that s good, or thanks for trying to heal me even tho I am so high, or help or whatever... and been rewarded. I met a guy last night Slashomatic, who was soooo cool, and fun to chat with, he rewarded me and guided me around just because I was running around RPing my Doc and helping pple just because they were hurt,,, He came up and said here... Lots of high level folks will help n00bs like me and others, but like most folks, they dont want there doors knocked in all the time with begging...you 'd be surprised at the folks who are just generally glad to see new folks learning, and falling sometimes, and will be glad to help.

I dont have much time playing but i seems that 1 to 10 do missions then at 10 go to the subway ..i level there all the way to 24 then came back cause i camped inside and got level 26 then i got killed and i could not get in oohh well from 26 went back with my keeper to nascence and killed a few more but no cash drops from there so i needed cash for implants fast..a sold a few pearls that drop from some mobs and thats it ..all went to nanos pr my keeper so at 28 i was doing missions when a guy told me about the temple ...omg yes is true ...is credit mine there mobs drop from 300 and legos hte ones im killing now at 48 drop 1 k ..did 150 k just in one day got a few q 50 implants to equip the frozen scite the one that drops from legos now and today i just play about 2 hours and already got 38 k im starting an eng. on second acount to use the beacon and a doctor also cause i really want that sword that uklesh drops ..I seen a high keeper and adoc solo that thing kill the first one a tree thing appers then the other big red thing with the sword in hand. man that hing hits nasty ..

also did not knew that pillows have those stats duh duh duh ...and i sold a few duh duh ..great post ,,,temple is awsome ..only bad thing is the trains that others make ..is there any safe spot ??
