Let's imagine for a second that titles meant something. I camp at arena for a while, waiting for a fight, listening to others ask for fights, listening in on guild chat.
"No, I won't duel you, you're a Engineer!"
"No, I won't duel you, you're a Fixer!"
"No, I won't duel you, you're wearing {such-and-such} armor/weapon!"
"No, I won't duel you, {insert reason here}!"
I think it sucks for people who actually deserve a title beyond the ones they have. (Yeah, flame away, titles don't mean anything, blah blah blah.)
Seems to me that a lot of people are just discovering PvP titles, and want to come to arena or 25% zones to get a title and hold on to it, just to say they have it. They won't fight to keep it, they have the oh-so-respected title of "freshman" and will never put it up for grabs again. My personal perspective on the matter is, come play for fun, not for titles. It helps to be good, yes, but even the noobs who just wanted to keep coming back for a whoopin, because they were having fun - that's the kind of attitude you need... not this, "Well, you beat me once, I'll never duel you again" crap. Learn from your mistakes, come back and try again. Don't just hang out waiting for a noob weaker than yourself for you to prey on.
But back to my original point, a LOT of the title holding imbeciles REFUSE to duel other people holding a title, for fear of losing the one they have. The same skilled people that deserve the highest titles they can achieve are the same people that CANNOT get a fight anywhere, except against unwitting Omnis in a tower raid. (Mostly untitled anyhow.) Off the top of my head, MJ, Cathawk, Ryu, and a host of others who consistently can't find a fight cuz' of title huggers.....I just think it sucks. But, we know how good you are.
