The umbrella could also help you fall slower if you were to jump off a bldg or jet to escape danger.
The umbrella should also shield you from lag in a storm...especially in BS.
I think maybe when you jump the umbrella could open. Then, with the umbrella equipped, you could fall a further distance without getting hurt.
