Solo player OT dept. affiliations?

can a single player be affiliated with a particular omni tek department? or is this reserved for organizations? i mean, i'd like to have omni engineering or omni IO or omni r&d missions come up on my mission computer all the time. like to think i was doing something to help a department. a part of the machine you know? thanks for any answers

To my knowledge, a single player cannot be affiliated in this way. However, I also don't know of any effect such affiliations have in the game, other than role playing. So, you're really not missing anything here.
