Thread: Best attack tactic?

    Best attack tactic?

Anyone know the best way to take down a controller:

    1. Go straight for the controller and ignore the towers.
    2. Just clear enough towers so that you are relatively free of interference while you pound on the controller.
    3. Clear towers until XX remain, before attacking controller (define XX).
    4. Clear all towers and then go for controller.
    5. None of the above (because...)

From what I understand, #4 is generally the best strategy because each tower either a) adds more health to the controller than it has on its own and/or b) lends too many advantages/firepower to defenders to make a controller attack viable until it's gone.

Obviously, each situation is different, but I was hoping for generalities here...

Clear enough towers that the damage shield on the CT becomes manageable. Then go straight for the CT. Not sure how much a tower adds to the damage shield, but in higher levels it is around 50 or so. And you obviously don't want to hit the CT on a 60 tower base, being hit back for 3k damage every time you hit the CT. If you reduce it to 6 towers, you get hit for like 300, and that is acceptable.

Also since the boost, the healdelta of the CT is affected by the towers... it's usually best to take out nearly all of the towers before going for the CT... otherwise it's suicide.

Yea but *cough* to make it a little easier on your healers, clearing all surrounding towers before attacking the Control Tower is a really nice thing to do. Unless you're just totally pressed for time and the suppression is changing soon, its best to just get the towers out of the way and kill the damage shield entirely.

In case you're wondering why it makes it easier, a Doctor can only team heal himself and the people in his team. The Doctor is probably also doing /assist on the Controller and chain-healing the tank.

If everyone else around (his teammates, and everyone else) is getting constantly hit by a damage shield of 300 points, they'll be dead unless they're being personally babysat or can also heal.

Towers QL200 and under take under 2-3 minutes each to kill anyway. Just get them out of the way so the fight on the Controller is anything but hectic for anyone

The problem (fun) with tower wars is always the fight against time. If you could go in and kill every tower at a base within 5-10 minutes, it would be no fun because the enemy would not manage to muster their defences within that short period of time. So, the goal: attack and bring down as many towers in the shortest period of time, if not the result: the enemy will get more and more people into the area (including support from other guilds.)

So, how do you achieve this? Naturally you plan, plan and plan. You decide upon which tower to attack long before it is attackable. You talk on the guild channel about the attack and you organize supporting guilds to do the same. Then you assemble at a certain point and strike.

As for tactic; take out support towers until attacking main becomes bearable. Have a group designate defence against the enemy.
