(reposted from another thread, more appropriate here, and kinda just hoping ideas like this will be read by FC)

I have fantasized about this concept since i started my trader on release day .. customizable weapons would give AO content to brag about that would rival it's graphics and skill system.

I know it would be a fairy large undertaking
with many of the original Devs now on other projects
but *eventually* tradeskill options that allow creativity like this
would turn AO into the undeniable masterpiece of MMORPGs.

The idea of taking a weapon base to determine type
then piece'X' to determine damage type then piece'Y' and
pieces'A' and 'B' to determine specials etc etc etc

I understand that no restrictions on this process would allow
'uber' weapons to be constructed but a few *carefully thought out*
limitations that do not limit the creative roll-your-own ideal
would be. . well, enough to keep me and many others interested
for the next 4 years

IMPORTANT: if you really want tradeskills to develop,
the manufacturers should be able to take credit for their work . .
gain fame through thier work ..
I think there must be 2 parts to the name of any player-made weapon.
first who made it. then the name they give it.
so an example would be 'Traderjoe-Made BoomStick'
with a little pop-up box (like that when you chose your characters name')
appearing after the succesful completion of each weapon.
here you would enter my example 'BoomStick' and an
automatic prefix of <playername>-Made would be added.

you already have /pet rename functions
(that remained changed on creatures even after nano expired)
so im assuming naming items wouldnt be out of the question
from a game-mechanics standpoint.

/me begs
infact, feel free to double-bill me every month if you ever implement the above
